Thank You for this video, it was extremely helpful finding those hidden bolts. I especially appreciate you calling out the sizes of each bolt. I have a 2011 Kia Sorento EX, and this is the same engine. There are painfully few videos on this topic, but yours was perfect for the job!

Replace the gaskets between the surge tank and the lower manifold when you have them apart. Cheap insurance against leaks.
@trackerrrr4 жыл бұрын
You can take out the three bolts holding the throttle body to the surge tank and then completely move the tank out of the way, much easier too.

Thanks for the video. It was my place marker for me to change the plugs on my 2012. The only difference is there are two more wire assemblies that plug in right where the 14mm bolt goes in the back. Also you left out the plastic piece in the front (with the three wire assemblies) anchor points. Mine had 3 bolts; two on the top and one down front and to the right. For some reason however I have one bolt left over... Maybe when I put the air filter cover on I'll find where it goes!

The PCV valve is easy to access and change out with the tank and throttle body out of the way at this time.

Welp, this shows how much of a pain in the ass this job is. Since this is my only vehicle, I will take it to my independent shop when the time comes.

Haven't watched it yet - do you go into the gap on the plugs? I know there were a bunch of service bulletins about changing the ceramic length of the plugs due to heat on a bunch of Kia vehicles. See: www.kia-forums.com/threads/sx-plugs-r-d.279210/page-7
@WWOOTEN4 жыл бұрын
No I didn’t do that. There is a small tool you can get at Advance or Autozone they are like 1$ that can correctly gap the plugs if needed but most of the time the plugs are pregaped correctly. Mine were fine when I bought them but if someone is having an issue or wants to make sure then gaping them with the tool prior to installing them is super fast and easy.
@arthurspontiacfieroblog4 жыл бұрын
@@WWOOTEN no, I mean they changed the plugs, entirely. Did you read the link in my post?
@trackerrrr4 жыл бұрын
@@arthurspontiacfieroblog Those plugs are for the 2.0L Theta engines, not the 3.5L Lambda engines in the 2011-14 Sedonas. Most of the plugs you can buy aftermarket are pregapped already.

@@trackerrrr also: I know that those specific plugs on that link were for that engine. I was advised to at least check to see if there had been an update for the 3.5L, because that can and does happen. I called my Kia dealer who advised that there have been no updates that he could find.

For PLUGS?!?!? Wow. Mine wanted $450 to change the oil pressure sensor, which is a LOT more in-depth than the plugs - but, more cost involved with the parts.

@@tomkruze2749 jeepers! I've had to do it twice, now (the oil pressure switch). The first time took me a few hours because I didn't know what I was doing. The second time took me 45 minutes. I changed my plugs when I changed the oil pressure switch the first time around. I mean, everything was already open and they were factory with 200K+ on them. Amazingly looked practically new.
