The W221 generation of the S Class is probably my favorite in terms of the overall design, especially when it was facelifted in 2009. Also, I would say that the W222, aka the S Class that came after the W221, is a modernization of said W221 S Class.

I used to think that this S Class couldn’t be anymore perfect when it first came out, but then the new one now 2024 is just much better imo

W221 has something about design I don’t really understand. It somehow looks very massive even compared to competitors, almost like a tank. Its like it has very thick metal or something. Other models doesn’t give that feeling

That shifter design was not a Tesla style shifter. Tesla wasn’t even around when the W221 debuted and Mercedes gave that exact electronic shifter to Tesla for the first Model S.
