I love how they are showing a red gt/cs and then in the interior the car has an optional panoramic roof that the gt/cs didn't have.

@@cm-hoops7275they are not wrong. The video of the car driving has no sunroof . The video of the car with Matt driving has a sunroof. Red car is exterior video is not the same as the interior video.

The 2011 will always be special because of the return of 5.0. The coyote is the best engine block Ford has ever built.

@beachaar we've said this before, like 15 times already in the comments section. The car I was testing was the blue GT with brembos and glass roof from the intro. The exterior shots are of a red GT C/S without a glass roof. Logistics prevented us from shooting just one car.

@subykid13 hey kid. You need to get your facts straight. The Camaro SS 6 speed has an entirely different engine than the automatic. This is for fuel economy reasons, since the auto has cylinder deactivation that can't be used with a manual gearbox. You're wrong, and that fact can be looked up anywhere. The auto has a 6.0L engine, the manual has a 6.2L engine. Facts are facts, and if you're going to be an online bully, you should get them straight.

@Kingsoupturbo the reason this video is short is because all the changes for 2011 that were implimented into the V6 and the GT were covered in the previous V6 review. Rather than repeating myself, for all those people who would watch both (which view counts show is about 80%), I left all that crap out of the second video.

I just got one too in the dark silver metallic or w/e. LOVE IT so far. My god it pulls. Brother had a 2006 GTO that i loved, but this GT is too fun.

I just got my 2011 5.0 three weeks ago. Black California special with the six speed, 3.73 limited slip, Roush CAI and axle back, nav. Have to say I absolutely love this car and what a car for the money it is (especially used with 20,000 miles). Anyone who complains about the interior especially with the California special touches with the big nav screen etc is just crazy or in denial.

@forcedls2 the exterior shots were of a car driving slowly so they could get a good shot, the car I was actually driving, I was beating the crap out of it. It's surprisingly good at the limit.

The recorded exhaust note on the V6 was the actual V6 I was driving. The GT video, I drove a blue car and the exteriors were obviously shot of a red car, without the glass roof. This was because of logistical reasons, and we had to share cars with people. Doesn't affect the review of the car.

we make (tiny little bits of) money off our youtube videos, both from the ads we place in the videos and from our KZbin partnership agreement, which generates the "lower third" ads. That means you need to either purchase a commercial license for the track you want ($50-$50,000), or surf through the royalty free music sites. KZbin has software that will immediately recognize if you use copyright music in commercial videos.

@turbo311 There's a good reason for that. The car I was driving on the inside was the Blue GT from the intro, which has the only wheels you can get that fit around brembo's. The C/S wheels (from the exterior shots, yes we used 2 cars) don't fit around the Brembo's and can't be configured that way.

@davidpanderson the brembo's won't fit under the C/S wheels. It's not stock footage, we shot the footage for Ford to use as stock.

@mit10956 No, it can't. Here's why: I was actually driving the blue GT from the intro, which had a glass roof and brembo's, but the red c/s car from the exterior shots didn't have either. The Brembo's calipers are huge, and can only fit underneath one specific set of wheels (again, see blue car from intro). The California Special's wheels don't fit. If you wanted to get the Brembo's and wheels dealer installed, I'm sure they would be happy to sell you those parts.

I completely disagree with Matt, the 4.6 sounds much better than the 5.0. It's worse in every other way, although the 4v DOHC 4.6 does have tons of potential. The 2v was a joke, a really good sounding joke.

That's where you're wrong, the 2v was much better when it came to power/$ in the aftermarket world. The 2v was the opposite of a joke kiddo..

Karl Melvin Compared to what? A 4v? Yeah, parts are generally cheaper and there are more of them. The 4v is the much better engine though. Those heads flow like crazy. Compared to an LS1? Nope, and I'm not even a Chevy guy. You can get heads/cam installed WITH LABOR for like $2500. Try 2x that or more for a 2v and you don't get nearly the same power gain as the LS, and on a motor that makes less power to start with... kiddo. The only way to make good power and keep it streetable is a supercharger.

kingcrimson234 they have hci top end kits that dyno at 340-350 whp for 2v. a 302 top end kit will get 300 whp if ur lucky.

@Brewskies24 no, we used a different car for the exterior shots for logistical purposes, but it's not a V6. The car I was driving was the blue car from the intro, with 19" wheels, Brembo brakes, and glass roof. The exterior shots are a Red GT/CS with no glass roof. Apologies, but logistics prevented us from using the same car for those shots.

@nachtkriechen so I drove a blue car and we used exteriors from a red car... so what? how does it affect the review of the car? Not at all. We didn't have our own car at the press launch, and had to shoot with 2 different cars, so it doesn't match perfectly. Again, so what? it doesn't affect the review of the car at all.

@undecidedend02 the red car is the California Special package, which comes with the billet grille and black side scallops, neither of which I particularly like. The blue car in the intro is the one I actually drove, with the 19" wheels that come with the Brembo Package, and the grille has the innner foglights, which looks much better.

@NigguhJason I don't make up what cars are in what class, there are actually government agencies that do that. THEY put the Mustang in the same class as the G37, Nissan Z, BMW 335, not me. There is no such thing as a "pony car" class nor a "luxury car class." The media just uses those as descriptive terms. The term "B-Segment Coupe" is the actual class those cars are in.

@ESPsandEmgs how does filming with 2 different cars constitute being "full of shit" yes, we filmed with 2 different cars, for a good reason: time constraints. I tested the blue car from the intro, and the exterior shots were of a C/S car because that's all we had time to film. If I'm such a big Ford fanboy, how do you explain the Corvette thats sitting in my garage right now?

@xMasterQueefx When we make videos such as this one, or the Fiesta review, we don't get to take the car home for a week and think about what we're going to say, write it out, that kind of stuff. We get a total of 2 hours with the car, on a specific Media Launch route, on a specific day. I have to do an entire review on the fly, in a single take, and with no room for creativity or error.

@Zimba9810 you should have read the video's description, where we say that we had to use two different cars to make this video. The one I was driving was the Grabber Blue from the intro, and the exterior shots were of a red GT C/S with no glass roof. Normally that's not how we do things, but it just worked out that way this time.

@oconnellv as I've said many times over in the comments, we didn't have the opportunity to use the same car for me to test as to shoot the b-roll. it's just the way the shoot went. The blue car in the intro is the car I tested, and the red one is the "california special" version.

@Marioamdz we use titles and descriptions in our videos, so you know exactly what each video is going to be before you watch it. It's very simple, if the video is of a topic you're not interested in, don't watch it.

@Ensilvanation to me, creaks and rattles are a clear indication of poor build quality. You can always add horsepower to an engine, but if the body and interior of the car are screwed together like shit, the whole package is pretty much hopeless. What did you expect me to do, "restore" a 2-year old car?

And the red car isn't a V6, it's a GT with the California Special package, which you can see by the side scallops, unique wheels, and billet grill. Next time you try to "call us out," make sure you get your facts straight.

@Qnickel27 The burnout in the intro is a CLK63 Black Series, and your guess is correct. The Mustang has a better power to weight ratio than the Camaro, especially when you consider the 5.0 engine is underrated at 412. Inside Line dyno'ed the car at 395 wheel horsepower, which is more like 435-440 at the crank, compared to the Camaro's 426. Factor in the 'Stang's 200 lb weight advantage, and there you go.

@subykid13 I never said the Camaro had 426 horsepower. It's an automatic, which means GM handicapped it with a smaller (400hp) engine. This is neither our fault, nor Ford's, so blame GM for handicapping the auto cars. Plus, it has been proven that Ford underrates the 5.0L engine by at least 20 horsepower, so the 5.0 makes more like 430 (even with an automatic) to the automatic Camaro's 400. Factor in the Camaro's additional 200lbs of weight, and the results of the race shouldn't be surprising.

@NigguhJason I do prefer a 6 speed over a 5 speed, because in most cases, a 6-speed allows all the gears to be closer together, improving acceleration times. It may not increase power (what sort of idiot would think an extra gear increases power?), but it certainly improves performance to go from a 5-speed to a 6-speed, which is why the top of the line version of your precious Evo is a 6-speed, and the base model has 5 gears.

@meatloaf666999 so you don't think it's fair to round up to 5.0L when the actual displacement is 4.95xxxx? That last cubic inch really makes that much of a difference to you? Ford has built a ton of brand value behind the 5.0 badge. It's a very smart decision by them to bring back not only a 5-liter engine but the corresponding badging. Think about it, every magazine is calling this the "mustang 5.0" not the GT, because of what's behind that name. The fact that the displacement is

@apex020 The GT starts at $31,500. Our test car had nearly every concievable option, which can crank the price up to 42. Even still, that's about 7 grand shy of a base GT500. A GT500 with options will go in the low 50's (and is well worth it)

@thebossisheretostay ask who for more money? No one is paying us to make these videos (most of the time, unless you see a clear sponsor). We get about $50 from Royal Purple per video for running the ads.... If you know someone with lots of money who wants to pay us to make longer videos, I'd love for you to hook that up. @ESPsandEmgs we have made several videos where we've used my Corvette, as well as a video of the Pratt and Miller C6RS track test. But GM didn't like what we had to say about their Escalade Hybrid, so they banned us from their test fleets. And I don't prefer Corvettes over Mustangs. I love my Corvette, and I really like the new Mustang too. It's not always that one has to be better than the other. They are both good cars.

@kane91 BMW won't sell M6's with a Certified Pre-Owned program. Which should tell you something. And by "something" I mean "Maintenance is terrifyingly expensive and these cars are so unreliable, even their manufacturer won't offer extended warranties to second owners." That may have something to do with their low resale value.

@Greendude33 I have heard from Ford engineers that the GT will "hang with" an M3 on their test track. HOWEVER, they didn't say that the Mustang would beat it. If you look at the numbers (which, aren't the WHOLE story), they are very similar. Similar horsepower, weight, acceleration and braking numbers. I would love the opportunity to test both cars at the track, and we'll see if that happens, but it's a very compelling argument. Given the price difference, gotta give some points to Ford, no?

@ESPsandEmgs I don't have a response to that. We raced the two cars (under different conditions) and had different results. All I can say to that point is that despite those two tenths, the C&D article gives a clear win to the Mustang on all accounts except quarter mile times.

@BigBoyBato They are both fun, great performinc cars. I haven't raced them both on a road course, so that would be a tough judgement call, but in a straight line, it would be a slaughter. the Ford is definitely more spacious and made of better feeling materials, but the handling still isn't as "tight" as the 370Z. However, the Z I drove got super hot after about 5 laps around Spring Mountain, and the GT was run hard all day long with no problems, so I'd say the Mustang would probably be a better

@elements8er1234 It's light when you compare it to the Challenger and Camaro, which are the Mustang's closest competitors. It's also light by the general standards of 2+2, V8 powered coupes sold in the US.

@dodge69874 it depends on how much forced induction you're talking about. A basic 5-8 psi supercharger will deliver 550hp at the wheels, no problem, and the stock internals can handle that just fine. If you're talking a 20 psi twin turbo system, upgraded internals would be standard procedure for almost any build.

we had an eighth mile at our disposal, and two automatic transmission cars. I ran a 9.24 @ 79 mph in the Camaro SS and an 8.65 @ 87 mph in the Mustang GT (also auto). I'm no pro driver, and I only got 2 passes in each car, but I've got some experience drag racing and the cars were autos so little room for error...

@Greendude33 Why would you take an axle setup, that Ford has put millions of dollars of research into, and rip it out, simply because you assume that an IRS will make the car drive better? They tested GT500's with IRS and Live Axle, and they found the Live Axle to perform better. Case and point, the Camaro and Challenger have IRS's and they both handle worse than the Mustang. The new GT, with a live axle, will beat an 04 Terminator around a road course without breaking a sweat.

@irivito1 the red car is a California Special, not a Shelby GT. there is no such thing as a 2011 Shelby GT.

@BradsAMG The Mustang's closest competitors, the Challenger and Camaro, are 600 and 250 pounds heavier respectively. The Hyundai Genesis coupe, which some would call a competitor as well, is 3389 lbs, but it's down 106 hp on the Mustang.

@Reaper87xx Having a LSD (which all mustangs now do, even the base V6 ones), doesn't have anything to do with the live axle. Live Axle vs. IRS is a suspension thing, LSD is a differential thing. Our test car had the 3.73, which I would recommend for sure, since the gears are more than tall enough to handle it.

@mellenjuice um, no. The 1994 and 1995 mustangs were rounded bodystyles with the 5.0L engine. The 4.6 wasn't introduced until 1996. If you're going to be a smartass, get your facts straight.

@Curveball 1) There's a huge difference between a $35k car and a $50k car. 2) The Mustang and Camaro V6 models both have 300 hp for under 30k. You want a V8 and 400+ hp? That's over $30k. Both are totally reasonable. In fact, the Mustang GT offers the most horsepower for the lowest price in the US today.

I repeat myself. The V8 mustang has class-leading fuel economy. Other cars in its class include the Nissan 370Z, Camaro SS, Dodge Challenger R/T, Infiniti G37, and BMW 335i, none of which get better than 26 on the highway.

I may not be a 20-year veteran of motoring journalism like Clarkson or Tiff, but I do my job the best I can given the many, many constraints in which we have to work. If that's not good enough for you, I'm sorry, and go watch another show. But we work damn hard at our jobs for fucking pennies, and saying I have no style or substance is a statement based on zero knowledge of how we work.

@Pre00 Top gear hasn't tested the 2011 Mustang GT. In fact, when they "raced" the old GT against a race horse, it wasn't even a GT. They tried to pass off a V6 mustang as a GT on the show, even though the single exhaust is a dead giveaway that they were full of shit.

@subykid13 The guys driving the drag race were both pro race car drivers. The camaro cut a .001 light, and the mustang cut a .008 light. those numbers can only happen by accident or lots of skill. The cars were both automatics, and both drivers kept their feet to the floor.

@Model192 If ford said the 5.0 is hard to modify, why does it come stock with the extra pulley you'd need to install a supercharger? The Mustang is the most modified car in history, and Ford would have to be very stupid to build a car that people can't customize on their own, as so many Mustang owners do. In fact, they really encourage it. Ford is not stupid, so the 5.0 engine will be as modifiable as any previous Mustang.

@E90lover I honestly don't remember, but the most expensive Mustang GT you can get is a Convertible C/S with all the options, and it's $48k.

@Ensilvanation I like good cars, that's all. Regardless of who makes them. What I left out was that, before I had my first 1994 Mustang, I went to look at a 1997 Trans-Am with half the mileage, because the performance numbers were great. I sat in it, closed the door, and heard more rattles than I had ever heard from a car door. I drove it around the block, and it was one of the sloppiest messes of a car I'd ever driven. I bought the older, higher mileage Mustang instead, and chose wisely.

@50StangsBlogspotcom Haha, that's it exactly. I didn't even know the car had that until I hit a bit of traffic on the way home after hitting the canyons. My Corvette came with the 1 to 4 thing as well, and i got a $14 bypass fuse to kill that feature, which I would do as well in the mustang. I was driving it so hard that I didn't even know it had that feature though, very annoying, but fortunately they make cheap ways to fix that.

dude. you're reading way into it. If you go to a driving school, like bondurant, skip barber, etc, they teach you to drive on racetracks using predominantly RWD cars. I'm not trying to insult people who drive front wheel drive cars. I've owned a few of them myself. You took my statement well out of context, I was referring to learning to drive race cars on a race track.

@SmokingTireSucks Clearly, you're missing the point. Performance isn't about power. It's about power to weight. The Mustang has a much better power to weight ratio than the Camaro, despite the Camaro's manufacturer stated 14 hp advantage. Let me guess, Camaro owner?
