Quick tip: Do not spray cleaner into or on electronic throttle bodys. You risk damaging the servo motor. Instead, spray throttle body cleaner on a towl and clean the throttle body with the towl.

Thank you. I cleaned the MAF sensor first and that solved the problem. I then cleaned the intake using your instructions. I accidently stripped the front bolt holder of the air filter housing. The one in the back looks like it will hold it all together. I subscibed to you VIDS.

Henry Taylor try testing the coils here is a video I did on scion it didn’t show me any ode but I checked by removing coil connector on each coil to see which one is the problem then swap it to diff cylinder and see if difference is on that cylinder kzbin.info/www/bejne/gn2of4StjtyJgKs

thank you! I followed your vid and was able to do this myself. The only difference is that the last boot did not have a #10 it was clamp ring that was easy to take out but a pain in the butt to put back in because the space down there is so tight. Thanks again!

@@RBTheMechanic i spoke too soon. After putting everything together the car had a few instances of the revolutions go down, car vibrates and shuts off. I notice the vibration as it sat idle. I replaced the MF sensor and spark plugs. The car is behaving more normal , i started the engine, sat idle and after 3 minutes i turned the AC on and it vibrated as if wanted to shut down. Is the a relearn process or is this automatic? Could it be a weak fuel pump?

Now i noticed fuel usage has increased I'm starting to suspect and O2 sensor P0171 was the code I got and replacing the MAF helped but P0171 makes me wonder if now i should turn my attention to the O2 sensor, what do you suggest? Samuel Coronel yeah the car has air fuel oxygen sensor that can be the cause you can try cleaning it maybe it will help

My car has been running rough, idling low and stalling out. This started when I disconnected the battery, in order to replace the radiator and the water pump. After I cleaned the throttle body I got a little bit of power back. I cleaned the throttle body again and got more power. I then cleaned the mass airflow control sensor. It immediately started shifting better and I got even more power. It has stopped stalling out but it still doesn't have a lot of power especially with the air conditioner on. The air conditioner works fine. 👲 Do you have any suggestions of what I should try next? 🤔

Thanks for the video. Think i need to do this, my camry has been doing that funny idle drop too and also its doing the engine knocking. Its fuel consumption has dropped to 1ltr for 6.7 from 1 ltr for 8.5kms. But does this help remove the carbon build up inside combustion?

2 Questions. I’ve never done this, and i’m approaching 130,000 miles… is it time to do it? car idles below 750 rpm. clean the maf sensor and it lowered idle rpm a bit. i have a 2012 4 cylinder. also, i notices the car was leaking oil, and I need to change the PCV Valve. I looked at the valve, and where i could see the hose from the top, it was wet… lost 1/2 quart over 600 miles. do you think i could tackle this on my own. parts would less than $30, and the dealership quoted $551

Well do the throttle cleaning defiantly that will help and the pcv valve this car pcv valve is located in very very difficult place so u will not even be able to tackle it urself

I will try to see if works for me. My 2011 camry sedan engine is off during the driving. The error code shows p0101 (mass or volume air flow circuit range/performance )and p0170 "system too lean (A/F lean bank1). I replaced massive air flow sensor but the problem still exists. I will try to clean throttle body as you showed.

Did this and car runs great, but the following day my engine check lights cames on and the slip indicator lights came on as well. I try resetting but it did not work. I replaced the air mass sensor but check lights and slip light didn't go away. Any recommendations besides take it to the shop?

The fat one is crank vent hose and the skinny one is purge valve hose but they will not make cylinder misfire

Yes key need to be turned to to accessories also to add I have noticed the newer Camry’s their idle goes very high after cleaning but in few drive cycles it comes back down to normal it relearn on its own so u don’t have to do anything

I have an 11 scion tc think the same engine. Mine just started stalling out and doesn't have full power when accelerating it's a 6 speed manual. No check engine light has came on yet could this be the problem? My mechanic says it sounds like a timing chain issue please can use advice before I pay 1200 dollars for something that's an easy fix??

If u can make video of the stall I can take a look for better answer try to catch rpm when it dose the stall ... how ever timing chain would give u codes for camshaft sensor or timing retart... I would defiantly give this a shot maybe it will fix the issue

I drove without the side canister valve solenoid hose for a 2 hr trip. Car rpm when stopped or parked was really low. Noticed I forgot to put hose back on. Problem kept occuring and even started turning off. So I cleaned the throttle body with wd40 and it just stopped it from turning off but still shakes alot. Should I just try replacing canister valve solenoid? Getting emissions error codes

I don’t clean throttle body but MAF sensor which is easy to access. My idling RPM return to normal. Reason I don’t clean is I don’t have tools to remove them. In the end, RPM works like magic. Please use top brand cleaner to clean it. Be careful with your cheap investment.

@@RBTheMechanic I cleaned the throttle body. It was filthy, but even after cleaning it the idle is still rough. While in drive with AC & headlights on rpms are abt 800. Will check it with OBDII when I have time to get exact RPM but its approx 800. I also tried what you said abt the AC & heat & the heat is coming out of all the vents but it doesnt seem to blowing as hard as the AC. I noticed with this last tank of gas I only got 200 miles. And it should be over 300. I filled it up right after I cleaned TB and will check it again after I use the current gas in my tank.

Ok so when u disconnect the battery u loss all power and idle memory and now it will stall and have low rpm. What u need to do is since u have already loss idle clean the throttle now so u will not have to do this again … after ur all set Now it’s time to build the idle memory 1st find a area where there’s not lotta traffic or people .. Then u going to drive the car about half an hour with everything off radio off lights off wipers ac heat all must be off and u just drive the car around it will re learn idle u might have to use both feet if it try to stall use gasped to keep it alive How ever if u don’t want to try this watch this video of mine and try building idle that way

@@meoshawoodruff this can be caused by low rpm since everything works off oil pressure and pressure will be low due to low rpm so reset the light and go for a drive let the idle rebuild take its place after that if codes reappear then u can replace the sensors

My gas pedal on my 2010 Camry got stuck today when I was driving, it scared the crap out of me. Had to put it in nuetral and brake, brakes were not working too well because the gas pedal was to the floor! I then just switched the car off. Will cleaning the throttle fix this?

@@RBTheMechanic I checked my mats, as I thought that too initially, once I got out to check the mat wasn't stuck under the pedal. It almost felt like cruise control took over without me pressing it.

Your Mass Airflow Sensor needs to be cleaned, had the same problem -when it was cleaned -it should give you a lower rpm

Doesn’t matter. I dropped staw in the intake manifold as well. It’d burn out cuz it is plastic

Martin Go u need to use scan tool they sell cheap scan tool at Autozone good to have. Do not use old school trick to remove battery the ecm will loose memory and car will keep stalling till it relearns

@@RBTheMechanic yeah no mechanic could find any leaks and there is no check engine light , I pretty much replaced all the sensors , idle, air mass , throttle position sensor and cleaned the throttle body very good

Just take the throttle body off, way easier to clean

Yes you can do that but you will loose idle memory and it will stall immedialty after you put all back together and start you will need to do relearn idle

Don't do this, take it off and clean it properly as the inside needs doing as well. Also the TB motor has a lot of torque. It will crush your fingers if it closes on them while powered.
