I tried this trick on my 2006 Trailblazer. I had some dumbass fold my drivers door back for me in a parking lot. He decides to come up on me as soon as I opened my door. But that's another story. I had it fixed at a body shop or so I thought. Years later the door started rubbing on the fender, so I seen your video and decided to give it a try. And I be, it worked. And better than what the body shop had done. Thanks for the video.

Done the same with a broom pole. Broke the broom pole but fixed the door. Entertained the neighbours as well.

Thank you!!! We backed our Suburban's open rear door into a basketball post. Both doors on that side are damaged and we couldn't even close the door because the latch was misaligned. Drove it with the door held shut with a nylon strap until I came across this video. Now at least we can close and lock the door.

2011 silverado 1500. Wind caught the door and swung open really hard. Started to rub afterwards. I did what you showed in your video and its fixed. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the post. Last week, I unloaded my 2000 GMC Sierra, and stupidly left my third door open. As I drove through our narrow driveway, the open door ran into the corner of our garage. It squashed our rain drain pipe, and bent the door back. It still closes, but it's f*cked up. It probably bent the hinges or the door itself. There is still about an 1/8 gap at the bottom, and no gap at the top. Going to try your fix. Thanks again for posting this. Rick in California

2005 Sierra and wind blew door open bending the hinge. Air was getting through the seal on the freeway and door wouldn’t always lock. I have just been annoyed and doing nothing for the last year. Just fixed it in 2 minutes. Thanks!!

Thank you. I came looking for help and hoped for a quick fix after the wind blew my door open and it wouldn't close right. Had a good 1/2" to 5/8"gap at the top of the door and the wind blew in while driving. Mine was a '07 Dodge Ram 1500 but the sockets worked just right. Thank you. Thank you. I used a shorter 1/2" drive socket and almost lost it in the crack so you might want to tie a piece of string through it to help retrieve it when it falls down in the gap. I was able to fish it out with a wire coat hanger.

Good call. I accidentally hit one of those poles while turning out of a parking spot along the wheel well and door hinge, and now I get a lovely scraping sound when opening the door. Going to give this method a shot.

I had high winds today where I work and it flung my door open. I found this video thinking nah probably another one that’s not what happened to me but the circumstance was similar so I kept watching. Your fix worked! I said “fu*k me it worked” when I tried it. Thanks for making a video on it.

Great video . My girlfriend was out driving my 4th gen Camaro yesterday. When she returned with the car the first thing I do is inspect it for any kind of damage.. So I open the driver's side door and there a terrible freaking noise.. I look at the hinges and I notice the bottom one is bent out wards almost 3/8 of an inch.. She of course has no idea how it happened. I have a feeling she used her foot to push open the door and she pushed a lot to hard and ya.. So thanks for the quick fix. It seems completely legit and I'm gonna go do it. Thanks for the video and your time...

Thanks for sharing! My car was hit from the side while door was closed. The gap is very wide from top but is good on bottom (sagging below). Kinda the opposite to what happened to you. Hope I can tilt the hinges somehow to reduce the gap on top and left the door back up! Or maybe if I push the door outwards similar to your incident I would be be able to reduce the gap?

Honestly, I was skeptical at first. The passenger door of my Forester got caught on a dirt hillside while I made the mistake of backing up. The door was too high as a result. To lower the door a few mm I put a small socket in the gap of the top hinge. I tried it about 20 times pushing not too firmly and down on the door with the window open. I did not want to use too much force. It worked....I was shocked to tell you the truth. Thanks again. One more time that KZbin came to my rescue.

Are you sure your wife didn't do it lol? Almost every video I've clicked on they start off so my wife jacked my door up😁 just messing with ya, I tried several other methods but yours was the one that worked, my wife must have lied to me on how she messed my door up cause I had no clue it pulled the hinges and body out enough to close the gap between the fender and door. Ok i messed it up but thanks for sharing 👍🏻

Awesome. Midas bent my door and I didn't realize until over a year later. Pretty sure they left the door open while lowering it on the lift so the nature of my bend is different. I saw them almost do that same thing while I was there which is how I later come to conclude that's what they (someone else there) did. I didn't notice until over a year later when rain started pouring on my arm like a small flood after the water built up on the roof. Given all the things I have found messed up on my cars/Jeeps over the years I don't trust ANYONE anywhere to work on my vehicles. I am extremely mechanically inclined and it's usually months to a year after I've had work done that I realized they destroyed or damaged something else. For someone who doesn't know anything about cars, you better look hard to find someone reputable, and be sure the guy that's the master is the one that will be working on the vehicle, not one of his underlings. I have no idea how I can possibly fix my current problem. I live in Florida and it rains like a mofo here. It's been raining all week for 2 weeks and I have to clear out about half an inch to an inch of water in it every couple of days with towels.
