The car has stellar reliability and loyal and happy owners, the most satisfied of any vehicle GM has ever made. It comes with a $7,500. fed tax credit and may have additional state energy rebates. Notice that the Volt can save approx. $7,600 in gas cost over 5 years and is proudly made in Detroit. For some drivers, the monthly gas savings can cover the cost of a lease! And, unlike pure electric cars, there is no range anxiety so you can drive the Volt anywhere an ICE car can go. Fantastic!

Just picked up a 2013 Premium that originally sold for $45k for $9700. Had 125k miles and a full discharge of the battery used 10.2KWH, or about 95% of original capacity. Used, these are a frikin steal. Heated leathers seats, power everything, navigation, back up camera, etc and will save you $800 per 10,000 miles vs a 35mpg car not including routine maintenance.

Firstly I must say this was a tremendous effort Kyle, in more than one way. The production value of this video is earnestly closing on to professional and aesthetically pleasing level. I particularly liked the introductory shots, the nighttime footage and the driving sequences. Your cameraman (or woman) deserves praise as well, because he or she meaningfully contributed to the sophisticated look of this presentation.

You got a lemon. How did you buy a new 2012 Volt in 2016? GM is surpassing Toyota and Honda in quality now... that's how good they're getting... I am satisfied with my 300,000 mile GM... I'd try to talk to Chevrolet. That's where GM is currently failing, in customer service.

Great review saabkyle04. Looks just like my Volt. I love my Volt and it's been over two months since I've added gas. The cost of a full charge is running me $1.53 a day. There are a few free public charging stations in my area to keep me going gas free. I'll direct those with questions to your video. You didn't leave anything uncovered that I can think of. Maybe just the lack of a spare tire but that is more common now days anyway. Keep up the excellent work.

@1bentley4ever yeah I saw that on the news. We didn't have anything like that just small outages that lasted for like an hour. Plus Texas is on it's own separate power grid so if any neighboring state has a problem we don't get affected.

Correction, on the eco orb gauge. The same goes for braking. I know this is for demonstrative purposes but you were mashing the brakes way to hard for effective regeneration. When the brake regeneration orb goes toward the orange bottom that indicates you are not receiving optimal regeneration.

Great video on the Volt, Kyle! Unlike what other people have been saying in the comments, I do believe that gas and oil are going to become exclusive resources and people are going to eventually buy this type of car. The interior of the car sure looks nice for what it is! Right now, I drive a 2005 Toyota Highlander myself, which has a MPG rating on regular unleaded of 19 city, 25 highway, but later, I could possibly see myself driving something like this. The battery in your laptop doesn't have a buffer that can't be used as in EV batteries. This applies to all EV's, not just the Volt. The buffer protects the battery from any memory build-up and excesive depletion. There are tons of EV's around with batteries that have lasted well over 200,000 miles. Some have been used by cab companies who have racked up over 300,000 miles.

I leased a Volt yesterday for $360 a month after paying the tax and dealer fees . I replaced a 6-cylinder car and it will save me $180 in gasoline per month . The Volt only costs around $25 a month more to operate than a basic car like a Corolla , Sentra or Civic . If the price of gas goes back to $4.29 , it would actually cost me less to operate than the most basic entry level vehicles . My calculations already include the $30 a month in additional electricity .

I pay $1.14 per 40 miles on average. 44 in summer and 37-38 in winter. That equates to about 150 mpg equivalent. It takes 10 hrs. @ 1.3 kwh's per hour to charge the car. Take the utility rate you pay and multiply it by 13. That is what it takes to charge a Volt. My last E bill was $72 dollars. That was for my whole house and 612 miles driving in the car. It saved me over $100 in gas plus payed my E bill.

No. The Volts took 3 weeks to catch on fire while being upside down with the battery pack and gas tank still charged/full. This was after a major side impact crash test. You'd think everyone would get out by then and the fuel systems drained! GM has since identified the issue and reinforced the coolant lines, and any Volt owner can have this repair done 4 free.

Wow, very nice informative, detailed info on the total car.....and without misinformation. Not really a review though, more of an infomercial. As far as the price, it will come down in time, especially after the federal rebate expires. Considering the technology that was put into this car, it's not a bad price, at this early period in EVs.

@mitchman2100 "It's not an electric vehicle, no beating around the bush, it's just a very good hybrid." The Prius can go about a mile on battery power, and not on the freeway. The Volt can drive on the freeway for about 40 miles. Do you see a difference there?
