2012 Ford Edge remove headliner for Vista sunroof

THIS VIDEO DESCRIBES HOW TO REMOVE THE HEADLINER FROM A 2012 FORD EDGE FOR THE PURPOSE OF GETTING TO THE SUNROOF MOTORS TO FIX MY SUNROOF THAT WILL NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. THE MAIN REASON I MADE IT IS I COULD NOT FIND ANYWHERE ON THE INTERNET HOW TO DROP THE HEADLINER ON MY FORD.

Thank you for the video! Very helpful. It isn't easy to get information like you said. I had the brackets break off on both sides of my Vista Sunroof recently and it has been painful to figure it out. Did you ever get the roof closed? Did you find out how to order the part to replace the brackets? Thanks again!

Yes, I got the roof closed finally. I have not tried to order anything. I just closed it up for the winter and will deal with it in the spring.

Elizabeth Zermeno I had the same issue with these little plastic parts breaking. I think it’s a common problem and the only way to fix it is by replacing the whole track ($350-$450 each) and they come with plastic parts again. I too had a sunroof problem on my 2012 MKX; the inside headliner below the glass would not seat fully to the front. The dealer quoted $3,500 to fix this. You read correctly...$3,500. After seeing this video and the effort you experienced I can see where this can be quite expensive but not $3,500. I declined the dealers quote and went to a local sunroof specialist...he hit the left button and VOILA! The headliner came forward as it should. Now my faith in the dealer, through whom I had purchased two cars, is shattered. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the demo. This is a huge issue with these model ford sunroof. Mine wont close the cable Broke it will open but it wont pull it close.

This really help thank you for making this video. My sunroof will not close on my edge 2011 and it's a panoramic. The left side has no power and the right side seems to be the only side working. Now I'm not sure if I should try to fix it my self or not

It is very important to lube all of the tracks and hardware on theses sunroofs every year with Fluid Film. It will greatly increase the life of the motor and hardware. Spray everything you can reach. Btw, 3:45 lol

Thanks for the informative video brotha. I need to get my headliner down to replace those brackets like the one you broke. Sunroof doctor sells the brackets as a set. Also if you took this whole time to take this headliner down to calibrate the motor assuming you didn’t have the broken clip you could have done the calibration procedure with the button.

How were you able to get the pin back into the broken clip? I loosened the glass and saw no way it would go in and keep the guide in the rail. It didn't seem like the pin goes into that part of the clip but rather a part that was broken off.

For anybody wondering about the sunroof aluminum machine guides i replaced my girlfriends friend guides out of her 2011 ford edge work great. They are well built and were easy to to install. Well worth the 135 for both over what the dealer is asking for the plastic replacements

I know this was a few years ago, and you probably don't have this car anymore (can't say I blame you, haha)., but did you take out the sun shade, or did it break and you had to pull it out to get the sunroof shut? I have a Focus, and one day I accidentally hit the open button with the shade closed......and the whole works got stuck. I ended up having one of my coworkers help me pull the sun shade out so I could close the sun roof. Well- that was over a year ago, and I need to get that thing back in- our heads get roasted by the sun on hot days, lol. Do I need to drop the headliner to get that back in too? #notlookingforwardtothat

I need the same clip for my headliner a 2013 Ford Explorer my head Line Stay still. It don't go back and forth be cause of the broken clip . My Clips are broke on both sides I'm going to try to glue something together

My vista roof does not open at all.. it was for a bit making a sound like the motor gear was stripped and the first little bit where only the front part opens worked, but now there is no sound and no movement at all.. you say that you have to open everything to work on it, but there is no way I can do that.

I have a 2013 ford edge sport here are some part numbers that might help you 7t4z 78502c06 b 7t4z 78502c07 b This is for the front rails and plastic guides that go on them..as far as I know you cant buy the front guides separately you have to buy the whole rail.. Here are the part numbers for the rear guides..you can buy them separately and they aren't too expensive 7t4z 78502m78 a 7t4z 78502m79 a
