Love the Bike! Im a huge Vtwin/V4 engine lover due to the sound. I AM IN LOVE WITH THE CROSSPLANE WITH SLIP ONS! Sounds like a race V8 going through the gears! This is the bee's knee's as far as best sounding bike around. Cant stand the bumble bee sound of all other inline fours and the torque is so linear on this bike. better mid range and low end than the other inlines making it so much more fun in corners and on the street. I am on the market for a 2009 & Up myself. Nice job!

John I bought an r3 about 8 months ago. I was looking to upgrade to a r6 or 636 but my dream bike is an r1. I ride my bros gsxr1000 comfortably but I'm still debating if I should skip the 600 and go straight to liter. There's a sexy 05 r1 at a dealership near me. What are some opinions?

@cobaltss072011 жыл бұрын
I almost went with the TB Y pipe, but I had some concerns about the polished pipe holding up, and not looking like carp over time. Although, I personally haven't seen any bad things about the TB Y pipe, that was just a concern of mine, and why I went with Graves. Not only that, but the Graves Y is titanium and saves some weight. Personally, I'd go with a PC5 over the juice box, more tuning capabilities. check out flash-tuneDOTcom for the ECU tuning interface. It will make a huge difference!

The SFM can run two ways, advanced and a normal mode. Advanced will give the SFM its own table to run off of, normal will just use what the PCV maps show. Personally i have mine set up as advanced, so i do see numbers in the SFM tables.

My buddies 2009 R1 that has a akrapovic 3/4 system is a bit quiter than mine, and not nearly as deep as far as the tone goes. Personally I like the two brothers system better than the akraprovic system. The carbon fiber does have a different pattern to it, but I do like it. I have about 1500 miles on this system and I love it, I personally recommend it to anyone that's looking at an exhaust system.

haha ya man thats not a bad idea, i will once i get her done. im currently fighting some/all striped and seized exup bolts. Its such a pain in the ass, im just drilling them all out and going to pull the damn stupid exup valve off and make a plate to put over it b/c im fed up at this point with it. figured id simplify things and just remove it, no exup one less thing to break right? i plan on changing both sprockets eventually so i figure i wont miss that lil extra power down low after my sprocket change anyway, its a hell of a pain in the ass though.
@cobaltss07208 жыл бұрын
+Tyler Dirden Fuuuuckkk I just changed out a header on a R1, where the guy bottomed out, and shoved the header through the oil pan. I was going to put the exup in the new header he bought, and had the SAME problem smh. Blocked it off, and it runs great. Took me forever to find a gearing I liked. :(
@tylerdirden34168 жыл бұрын
Ughhh... Really? thats what i am most worried about, spending 300 and then not liking the gearing of the sprockets i just put on and having to spend more money and more labor to essentilly guess again. What did you end up going with?
@cobaltss072011 жыл бұрын
Yeah you will be okay with running the PC5 with the Y pipe. The reasoning behind it is to keep the bike from leaning out too much. Hope this helps you out, take care.

@cobaltss07208 жыл бұрын
Yeah its a Motodynamic sequential tail light. My old camera hated LEDs, and made them look like they were flickering. However, when i brake, they strobe 4 times quickly.

i have a 2bros slip-on on my 2013 zx10r.......should i get a full system with the pc5 or no?
@cobaltss07209 жыл бұрын
Personally I didn't do the full system, because the benefits didn't out way the negatives. On my personal bike, it's about a 1-2 hp increase, but the time it takes to change the oil increases as well. Because the header gers closer to the oil filter, I'd have to remove the header every time I changed the oil.

Basically the tuning allows you to compensate the fuel, and timing for any changes that you made to the bike (short explanation). I'm not sure what you mean by the fuel modulator, could you explain? The light only flickers in this video, probably because of my camera. But it does strobe 5 times fast and then stays solid when the brake is hit. Thanks for the compliment man!

Hey, great video and nasty looking R1. Maybe you can help me out with a few questions I have. What exactly does a Y pipe do other than join the mainifolds? Is the soul purpose to eliminate the catalytic converter? Is the y pipe added to create a full exhaust effect? I'm asking because I'm planing to buy a BMW s1000rr next year. I'm coming off a 2006 GSXR 1000 :) I'm not a fan of the Akra shorty evo full titanium, or yoshis r77, and Brock's just does not hit the spot. They're all great but, it seems like every s1000rr owner has them. I'm a fan of the deep sound. I found BODIS Exhaust has just what I'm looking for except they don't offer the full exhaust, just a slip on. Would stock headers and a y pipe plus the BODIS slip on be the route for me. To create that full exhaust sound. Keeping the stock cat would just be a waste I think as it does not make slip ons sound any better. Especially on the s1000's. Please any help would be amazing, thank you in advance and ride safe everyone...
@cobaltss072010 жыл бұрын
Thanks Man! The Y pipe purpose is to eliminate the cat. With the cat eliminated you save weight, heat, and remove a little restriction in the exhaust flow. The header on the 09+ R1's are titanium from the factory and flow rather well. With that in mind, changing out the header is not really worth it for most riders. Typically a slip on and Y pipe (a 3/4 system), is good enough. hope that helps, take care!
@BrianBoykin9 жыл бұрын
will my 2014 r1 with 2 bro slip ons sound good with stock cat? or just bang out ceramic
@mikeplaysit9 жыл бұрын
Dude. Fuck the sound. You bang out the exhaust and shit you're going to start screwing things up with the back pressure and who knows what else. You're going to do nothing but make it louder, and chances are it's not even going to sound good at all. And worse you're pretty much guaranteed to lose power. It's not worth it bro, trust me.. Just save and wait and get something proper. Not Two Brothers or any crap like that. At least get something from Yoshi or Leo Vince. Most places who sell Leo Vince can get really good deals on it.

@cobaltss072010 жыл бұрын
Hey man, sorry about the late response. Personally in my book, the top three are, Graves, Akraprovic, and Yoshimura. These companies have done tons of research and have developed a lot of great parts for the R1s.
@bigkev71810 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply dude....still tryna figure it out...but i think that i'm just splitting hairs and i'm trying to get an answer that is impossible to attain.
@cobaltss072010 жыл бұрын
bigkev718 think about it this way bro. Graves is the dedicated performance research and production company of the top AMA riders. Also, Akraprovic makes the motogp exhausts. These two companies have by far the best performing system. Graves probably a bit more, they're more in depth with engine work and other things.
@bigkev71810 жыл бұрын
NoxImus I'm on the fence, i just love the look of that toce and the more and more i hear is that the hp differences in each are maybe 1-2 hp. I might do the graves no cat mid pipe to the toce slip on.

Two Brothers......... I bet anything you're losing power. I made that same mistake when I got my first bike. Went with a Two Bros slip on and a Power Commander and some K&N filter. I should have just left it the hell alone. A PC is really usually only going to take advantage of a full exhaust system. If anything I would bet that the PC you have on your bike is simply making up the power that Two Bros kit is robbing from you.
@mikeplaysit9 жыл бұрын
greeek777 Well of course if you tune the bike to compensate for having the freer flowing exhaust it's possible to make power. I'm just saying that in general, newer riders and squids will buy TwoBros because they're cheap, flashy and loud. And that's all they care about. If you do the rest that's fine. But at the same time, if someone's going to go all out and dyno tune the bike and make all the other necessary adjustments and changes, why go with TwoBros rather than a proven, quality full system. Akrapovic is good as hell but expensive. LeoVince are great and a lot cheaper. Especially if you go to the right place that is able to get them for a steal....
@mikeplaysit9 жыл бұрын
greeek777 I like the Crossplane models. When I got mine, I should have waited SLIGHTLY longer, because the very next year they came out with the crossplane crank.
@cobaltss07209 жыл бұрын
Mike, you're correct. Graves does offer a better product and more power, than what two brothers does. Why? Because graves works with yamaha directly for their race teams. Also, they work with yamahas satellite teams.
