Have had my 2013 Scion iQ since 2016. It had 28k miles when I got it and now has 170k. It has been by far the most dependable, most practical, and most lovable car I’ve ever owned! I’ve also driven it on long trips multiple times. East coast to west coast and back 2 different times. I think adding the after-market cruise control set would make the long drives even more comfortable. I highly recommend this car for people who need an affordable, reliable ride.

Loved my IQ. Had it 2017-2020. Great city car, & handles absolutely fine on highway, road trips, country roads as well Great on gas, good storage w/back seat folded down, good safety features(13 airbags I think) Drove it wintertime n upper MI, thru Great Smoky mountains & red river gorge, always handled just fine. 2020 I was tboned by a truck. My IQ tipped over onto drivers side, slid into oncoming & was then hit by another car. Walked away without even a scratch. Definitely a great little car!

@gotham613 жыл бұрын
I think you kind of missed the point with the cargo/rear seats thing. This car is barely longer than a Smart, but if you fold the rear seats flat, it has a way more useful cargo area. There are storage compartments under the rear seat bottom cushions specifically designed for the rear seat head rests. Most IQ owners use the car this way, as a two seater, with some useful cargo space behind the front streets. The added bonus is that you can also flip the rear seat up, and transport another person for a short trip. The front passenger seat is designed to slide forward further than the driver's seat, which is why the dashboard is pushed further forward on the passenger side. If it was touching the rear seat, it was all the way back. Rear seat room on the driver's side is very restricted, and should only be attempted by small children, not XXL men.

My main issue with this review is that you didn't move the front passenger seat forward. The dash is off center so that the passenger seat can slide further forward than the driver's seat. You can fit a 6ft tall person in the back passenger seat. Behind the driver there is no room. Hence the 3+1 marketing. 3 full seats plus one seat if you need it.

I have a smart car. One day I decided to put the daystar lift on it. I quickly discovered that I absolutely hate the front strut design. I reversed the lift because it rode like s**t. Anyone who says that it's the best thing ever is incorrect IMHO. In order to lift it you have to lower the suspension so unless you plan on cutting up the front of the car you don't gain much ground clearance. I had to replace my front struts and they still clunk because they loosen up. I ordered some new strut bearings and I will be taking the front struts apart yet again so I can put loc-tite on the nuts to stop them from backing off. My smart is RWD with the engine in the rear. I would prefer FWD with the engine up front. I drive 22 miles back and forth to work on narrow back roads alone, so I don't need an SUV or truck. I bought my smart because it was cheaper than the toyota but I wish I bought the scion.

Toyota iQ in Europe as well the Aston Martin Cygnet is even rarer than a Ferrari I think they sold obvioulsy not that much: You could have gotten the iQ with a 1.0 VVT-i 68 hp 3-cylinder engine as the base model, you could upgrade to a 1.33 Dual VVT-i 4-cylinder with 98hp so I guess it's the same unit as in the testcar or get a 1.4 D-4D diesel 4-cylinder with 90 hp. 5-speed manual as standard in the 3-cylinder gasoline engine, 6-speed as standard in the 1.33 and the 1.4l engine. Both gasoline engines could've also been combined with a CVT. The Toyota iQ was sold from 2009-2015. Most models were sold in 2009 due to the scrappage program (nearly the as the Cash for Clunkers Program). Sales feel every year ever since. Personally I think it's the best mini/micro car in the segment for it's money; a Smart Fortwo was less practical, was a little safer in case of a crash due to the metal safety cell but in every other point the iQ was better. Better value, they offered a manual and a CVT not an automated manual like Smart, they had cooler interiors, a lot of extras if you want and most importanly the are super reliable. The 1.0l engine came from Daihatsu; a car manifacturer that's part of the Toyota group and is a specialist in building small reliable engines. The 1.33l engine came from Toyota and was also used in the Yaris, Auris (a different style more european like Corolla) and the Urban Cruiser (second gen Scion xD) super quiet unit with more than enough power for the little iQ the diesel was rare and a little bit noisy but still a reliable and pretty fuel efficent unit. I personally like the interior individualisation brown or light beige parts, part leather seats in black or dark violett. It's hard to find beige interiors in Europe because it's not that popular over here and in the iQ is pretty mixed between black, brown and beige and I like personally like that. Also Smart Key Acces & Start, power folding mirrors, Bluetooth, Cruise Control. Stuff most Smart Fortwo's never offered or rarely had.
