Can you hold it from the crank pulley to keep from moving?
@Mad_Rass.mk6gli
@Mad_Rass.mk6gli Жыл бұрын
Holding it by the crank would work but not recommended since the cam itself can jump time when tightening the spool valve back into the cam. I’ve heard of it happening but I’ve done chains on my tsi twice now and it’s never happened. Although I have the ea888.3 which doesn’t have anywhere to hold the cam.

Thank you so much for this video. A garage told me my bearing shells are broken and the chain might be worn and made a quote of more than 6k for repairing. After your video I've replaced both the valves (intake and outlet) and followed your instructions. The valve of the intake was the problem. Now my S3 8V ist running like nothing happened 👍.

Pressed on parts such as this plunger, cam timing gears, and cam lobes was a great waste of engineering and a real crime to American auto buyers, all these types of parts should be replaced free of charge to the car owners, a serious case of recalls around the world and one of the worst ideas ever implemented into a production vehicle, so sad engineers are allowed to get away with these crimes. My usual saying is, the car manufacturer is laughing all the way to the bank, put them in prison is what I say today.

Idea is that the design should outlast warranty and only quality VW workshops have adequate knowledge of engine components service life and sufficient access to the VW parts distribution network to make the maintenance task a relatively affordable task. (And not all VW workshops are quality, far from it in Australia) Most local workshops not usually associated with VW engine / drivelines, will need to outsource steps of the task to specialists and/or VW, of which each option will be prohibitively expensive. And VW will deliberately make thier services to 3rd party workshops expensive and lengthy, to make the consumer choose to simply have the VW workshop undertake the entire task. And local workshops will have to purchase a licence to access specific data for the vehicle/task and if the workshop doesn't already have a licence.... It's yet another task it will choose to outsource to VW.... So yea, VW are playing thier cards close to thier chest. Different business model to our normally accepted and used one I guess. Which sucks because they are good vehicles but designed so that our local markets unable to use it as it does with non-European brands

Hey Richard! First of all, great name! lol I have a question about the p0016 code on my CC. I just recently replaced my pcv, because of a lean code. But after, it started to run rough on idle. It may have to do with battery might be starting to die (had to throw it on a charger). I checked the camshaft timing (channel 93), is it normal to have it at 10ish degrees? I recently just replaced my timing/balance shaft chain. The solenoid is new as well. The only thing I didn't change was the adjuster itself since it it looked fine (flush). Thanks!
@CoolAirVw
@CoolAirVw Жыл бұрын
If you dont have a code you dont have a timing problem. When you say you didn't change the adjuster???? Does that mean you didn't change the timing chain tensioner? The timing chain tensioner is the most likely component to fail. Get back in there and change it.

Awesome. This is EXACTLY how my 107k mile 6 speed manual 2009 Eos is acting. Same codes and all. Upon inspection of the oil control valve it’s exactly like this. VVT is good though. Im told the screen on the bridge is what causes this oil control valve issue. That it’s highly possibly the s teen has come apart from the bridge and can clog an oil passage way. Did you inspect this?

If you have a misfire then diagnose it. Loot at misfire counters on scan tool to ID which cylinder, then maybe swap coils and plugs. Check for vacuum leaks including crank vent valve and rear main.
@FoxiferTheWhite
@FoxiferTheWhite 2 жыл бұрын
@@CoolAirVw I have a scan tool unfortunately it's not vcds so I don't get nearly the detail but I can tell you indefinitely it's a detonation knock/misfire , but I guess I'm going to have to find somebody with a vcds tool
@CoolAirVw
@CoolAirVw 2 жыл бұрын
@@FoxiferTheWhite Dont know. A good scan tool will tell you in measuring blocks which cylinder is misfiring or if multiple cylinders are misfireing. If its one or maybe two you can diagnose it as a "single cylinder" misfire, but if its all then you look at fuel trim, vacuum leaks, fuel pressure. There's a lot to know, and everyone gets stumped (yes even youtubers like me). Watch my misfire videos. I got a few of them.

Hi, my automatic 2007 audi a4 2.0L turbo has some acceleration issues. Intermittently from a stop it accelerates very slowly. To go from gear 2 to 3 i see the rpm goes to 4000 but car is not moving fast at all. Going up a slight incline is a big struggle. There are two codes P0016 and P0459. Can this be transmission, turbo, or timing problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Than you.
@CoolAirVw
@CoolAirVw 11 ай бұрын
code p0016 makes it seem like a timing problem. I dont have p0459 memorized. Timing beeing of can definatley make lack of power. Stop running the engine if it jumps time your engine will be damaged. From memory 2007 would have a timing belt then a chain at the back of the motor that goes from cam to cam and its very common for that chain to jump time.

if it runs flawless at 2k, it hasn't jumped time enough to damage anything. If it jumps time and wont run then chances are good the valves are bent due to contact with pistons causing no compression.

@12:05 you show that the new oil control valve requires a different tool… than the oil control valve you just removed. Old one had indents at 12:00 and 6:00 (clock positions), and the replacement oil control valve had them at 12:00 and 5:00! Why in the world would VW make such an odd change? Any thoughts? Hii I am writing to see what the problem could be with my car. My garage is out of ideas, so i would be grateful if you could put in your views. Its a Skoda Superb 1.8TSI, 2011 model I got a head gasket replaced and a few cam timing chain guides replaced (only the chain guide and not the actual toming chain) The car is running just fine. There is no misfire or rough idle or any visible abnormality and there is no overheating now, due to which i had to have the head-gasket replaced, but the EPC light comes on intermittently leading to an MIL light (check engine light) and the scanner gives the code P0341 (Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance Bank 1 or Single Sensor) Now we replaced the oil control solenoid as well as the sensor. Voltage at the connector is 4.7V., yet the fault code refuses to go away. Plzzzz help !!!!

Hello guys. Very helpful video. I am currently trying to resolve a P0014 issue and most possible reason is a VVt valve as some genius guys put 5/40 instead of 0/20 oil and let me know only 9000 km after. I changed oil and cleaned camshaft position sensors who had a small amount of dirt on them. Now a logical move would be to take out VVt valves and clean them as this dirt could clog them also. I have a 3.0 tfsi engine and these valves look slightly different, with a star shape bolt. My question is, should I just unscrew them without any other steps? I mean could I break the timing or I can freely unscrew and screw back the valves without fixing the shafts and finding proper alignment?
