Would it be possible to route the power straight into the fuse box instead of the parking light cable? The parking light (strip bulb on headlight) only comes on at night if you keep it in automatic. I want my fog lights on all the time from the time my car is turned on.

Yeah that can be done. Just find a power source that is powered when you have the ignition switch on.

Can you wire this to the regular headlights instead of the parking lights so they can come on with the headlights instead?

Yes you can. You just need to tap into the power wire for the headlights

Check your wiring connections. Make sure they are all tight. Sounds like a connector might be loose
