2013 - 2016 Ford Fusion Antenna Replacement - No Headliner Removal Needed!

Today we are fixing the broken antenna on our 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Ford Fusion using a great little unit from Visual Garage - shop.visualgarage.com/

These come paint matched to your vehicle and are quick and easy to install with a few basic items; check out their website as they have many different OEMs available.

Tools we needed normally would have been a Phillips head screwdriver to attach the antenna wire lead to the OEM antenna, but since that was broken off of the OEM antenna we had to improvise a little which you will see in the video. The rest of the tools were basically a microfiber cloth to dry wipe the surface of the paint, a hair dryer which we did not need because the car was already nice and warm, some Dawn dish soap and water to remove the wax from the paint surface, and finally some alcohol as a final prep and some masking tape.

You are Welcome! I could see a kayak taking the antenna out pretty easy too - there is not much there besides one screw in section holding it onto the car.

The antenna cover on my 2013 Ford Fusion was cracked and partially broken off at the car wash. Is the base that is exposed during the carwash cycle destroyed? It looks just like the one you replaced.

Thanks for watching and Subscribing! In our case the screw in part where the antenna screws in was broken off in the car wash. You will need to see if that is still there, and that will determine if you need to modify the Sharkfin antenna wiring connector like we did.

Thanks for watching and Subscribing! The antenna was already broken off along with the mount (it broke off in the car wash) and we were left with the spring sticking out and the antenna base still in the roof of the car. I believe this is designed to sit over top of the original antenna plastic.

Thanks for the video! Mine broke off at a car wash yesterday. I am somewhat unclear on where I could find a flat blade terminal that will fit the spring perfectly. Spring appears to be 4mm wide and I could not find a 4mm flat blade terminal. From the video, it also appears that the connection was covered by something that looks like a heat shrink-wrap (possibly to hold the flat blade terminal and the spring together?). Help!

I feel like I should not have cut the metal circle connection off the shark fin as this video recommended. I could not get the tiny wire stripped properly to add a new connection. Also, this video skips over how to actually add the new connection. It was very very difficult to attach a new connection. Mine is barely connected and most of the time the radio works...but not as it should. I am thinking that just using electrical tape to connect the silver hoop to the spring left on the top of my Fusion's antenna would have worked much better. I so wish I had tried before cutting it off. The instructions that came with the fin are also seriously lacking in connection instruction. Ugh.

Thank you for watching and Subscribing! I'm sorry to hear about all the trouble here too - in our case/our installation the spring was the only thing left. We cut the circular connector off, stripped the wire, added one of the female quick wire connector ends to it, and then that quick wire connector fit perfectly onto the end of the spring for a solid, reliable antenna to radio connection. If you search for "TICONN 100 Pcs Nylon Spade Quick Disconnect Connectors Kit" on Amazon this is the kit we have listed in the description of the antenna install video. You could purchase this entire kit from Amazon, or take this to any parts store to explain what you're doing and they should have a small package of these for a few dollars that you can buy to finish this yourself 👍 I would also guess that you could take this to almost any stereo install shop and they would have these laying around and probably charge you $10 or something in about 15 minutes for them to finish the wiring connection 👍 Let us know how you end up finishing this! 😊

@@freshvintage I was able to buy a single female connector at our local hardware store for $1; but after having 3 different people using 3 different wire strippers, we could not get the wires exposed fully without breaking at least one. It is installled, just not sure how long it will last. I still had to tape the female around the spring. I just wish I had never cut the original connection off. I too only had the spring left on the car, but I think I would have been better off just taping the original circle connection to the spring. Maybe? Who knows. It's done, radio is working. That wire was so very difficult to strip.

My Ford dealer wanted $1,600. However, this company is completely unresponsive to inquiries so ordered something on Amazon for a lot less. Just had to not have color match.
