I have a 2016 technology package. 80k no mechanical issue. The only annoying thing is that the hard plastic latch that holds the center console/arm closed has broken 2 times. But that was an easy fix and it costs less than 5 dollars for the new latch. Other that nothing else.

My parents made the switch from Toyota to Acura in May of 2014 with a brand new 2015 RDX. It was fun to drive with lots of power but the ride wasn’t the best. The dealer ended up replacing all 4 struts under warranty which helped. About 6 months later one of the rear struts completely failed so I ordered some KYB replacements and that really helped. Other than a battery (warranty) and I think 1 set of pads all around and a set of front rotors that was it. They ended up trading it for a 2017 MDX Elite which isn’t as quick but rides a lot nicer. No issues with that either!

How much is the typical worst case, but relatively common, fix on the 2013 rdx? Is the torque converter fix or transmission fixes due to poor maintenance expensive? How about replacing suspension? Looking at one tomorrow and like to try and have an estimate on costs!

Awesome content as usual! We own 13 RDX , currently at 102K Miles, purchased it at 77K miles . Our 13 RDX did encounter the VCM Spool Valve leakage that damaged the alternator 😢at 95K miles or so. I actually bought the spool valve aftermarket gaskets from o’reillys (Mahle brand) and replaced alternator with OEM alternator. Car currently at 102K miles and still dry. I do 3K mile oil change intervals also. At round 90K miles did the timing belt job and water pump and tensioner pulley replacement also! Ty for all your content. Thanks for this amazing video. I'm curious if 7 yrs should be followed strictly on timing belt changes, or 105k miles is more important. From the RDX user manual, there is nothing on timing belt replacement other than following the Maintenance Minder system. Should I just wait until the MM system tells me to do so? Thanks.
@BCautosutionsАй бұрын
@@archieju3856 general rule of thumb. If you do 8 years and 105k should be fine but I wouldn’t go 13 years for example on the belt

I've test driven several 2nd and 3rd gen RDXs, the 2nd gen is nice to drive but 3rd gen is WAY more engaging while still being very comfortable....I thought 2.0t and 10 speed auto has proven reliable so far, and with 2nd gen at this point if you buy used and belt hasn't been done yet, that's $1,000+ right off the bat you need to dump into it, prob can't go wrong with either option tho

Put a shield over the alternator... Those transmission fill hole plugs can get super tight. I had one that wouldn't budge and I didn't want to use a ton of force as it seems to be aluminum so the dip stick tube was used.

What's your opinion on the first generation 2007-12 RDX? I know it's not a common engine, but I haven't heard about too many major issues with the K23A turbo engine. Also, have you came across any issues on the Prologue? I have one in the shop with the evaporator leaking with requires removal of the dash. It's a dealer car that hasn't been sold yet.
