My 2015 RDX had 77K in December of 2015... Great vehicle, super quick and fun to drive!

Nice great tip is keep the crank half / a tooth off to take the slack off. I figured this when i changed the belt for first time 5 years ago. Another tip for ameature or new bie is take old belt , put a timing mark on old belt for cam and crank and transfer the mark to new belt for alignment.

I use to do that when I was a first year apprentice. Also helps when you find out parts got you the wrong belt when I worked at a general repair shop.

Wife's 2018 Rdx is at 140k and 20K will be needing TB and WP works. I have done TB and WP for 4cyl but figured better to leave the 6 to the professional. Quote from Acura was $4G+ for both, guess they are charging as 2 separate jobs. Going to get a quote from Honda for the job. Thanks for the tip.

I did my 2009 Ridgeline TB/water pump a couple weeks ago. The belt and tensioner was 9yrs/115k kms old and the water pump was original (219k kms)with no leaks. Tensioner looked like it had been leaking for a while but the belt was still in very good shape. This truck has alway had a pesky oil leak, I thought it was the oil filter housing, did the seals on that last year but that leak continued. While doing the TB service I found that it was the oil pump leaking... Did the reseal on that, pretty easy job all in all... GRAVEY as some would say... LOL!

Those gaskets on the oil pump always go hard and start leaking. Waiting for one to come in to make a video on resealing the oil pump on the Honda V6.

Great video! Nice to see it done by someone who does it for a living, but without the convenience if having a lift! Really good for the DIYers. Also, are the torque specs really that critical (on the covers and such)? Or are they pretty much based on the bolt size standards? or even the German "Good en tight"? Lastly: Good on you Sir for helping out your expecting friends.... I know they certainly appreciate the $ you saved them... Good job indeed!

But the Acura dealer give you a free loaner of a type S TLX, free coffee, all the little bottles of water you can drink, and work desks with LAN plugs.

My Acura dealer gave me a 2023 RDX as a loaner when I had my T belt done. Though that car got rear ended by a tricked out FJ60 and I now drive a 2019 RDX A spec.

you said to pull a grenade pin? I'm guessing you mean a rig pin or cam lock pin? I tried to find one to buy and the ones I seen are for K series engines. Is this the same?

You do not show this pin in the video and I have the same suv

It's the pin to release the hydraulic tensioner for the t-belt to put tension on it. The k series has a holes on each camshaft for a pin to keep the cam in place.

my 2018 rdx is having something strange: when the temperature is lower than 10 C (50 F) degree, the first time cold starting in the morning, I can hear clear knocking sounds lasting for 2~3 mins and disappear later. my friends said it may be the timing belt issue, I have no idea at all. Not sure if it will become worse when it gets colder in the winter. Do you have some intuitive thinking?

How many miles or kms do you have on your rdx I'm assuming it's the V6 and not the 2.0t yet.

$2k for a timing belt at the stealership! Good reason to go with a Lexus.

The crank bolt magically came off. I wonder if it was bored loose. Yes, breaker bar against unit body and a blip of the the starter is the real unrevealed answer.

I had a 2003 Honda Pilot. I had the rear rotors turned and had the same chatter marks. Shop told me the silencer pad or silencer belt was broke so they turned the rotors without it. Maybe similar situation.

It's due to vibrations without a dampener it causes the bit to jump and loose contact. Funny that the shop couldn't just get one from the Autoparts store as they are inexpensive and easily available to be still cutting rotors like that. To give you an idea what that dampener is here is a video kzbin.infoTkoINDNxo5o?feature=share It's basically that skimming the surface of the rotor while the bit is cutting the rotor on top.

@@theoffroadingmechanic Thank You for replying and the link to rotors being turned. I see the silencer pad you mentioned. I have a 2007 Honda Odyssey and a 2009 Honda Accord. I love your viewing your content and I'm learning on my vehicles in the meantime.

Is it the end of the world if you don't level the car to do the transmission drain and fill?

My jack stand barely had the vehicle off the ground. Hardly was able to get my chest underneath. I checked the dipstick once I had the wheels back on.

75W-85 gear oil is same as 0W20 motor oil???? What the heck!!!!!!!!!!
@theoffroadingmechanic
@theoffroadingmechanic 2 ай бұрын
Yea if you're comparing viscosity. Gear oil and motor oil are on different scales but in terms of viscosity they are about the same. You can look up this information it's no secret people just think the 75w85 means it's a thicker oil but it is technically not, gear oil is different.
