If you have electronic rear emergency brakes on a 2016 ford fusion you are not going to be able to just screw the caliper piston in all the way. You must put the car into "emergency brake maintenance mode" to do this watch this video. 2016 Ford Fusion rear brakes with EPB. This guy saved my butt.

Make sure to put it in brake maintenance mode before taking off the wheels and always remember to lube those “caliper guides”, That’s the main reason the brakes go out so fast
@WheresWaldo052 жыл бұрын
The main reason brake pads wear out fast is due to buying aftermarket brake pads that wear out at best 50% of the stock/oem brake pads life capacity. Also if the rotors have defects in them. And lastly the caliper cylinders sticking so the pads are always or partially engaged.

At 0:57 the EPB did get disconnected, correct? Or did you just move the wires out of your way? On a Ford with an electric parking brake per Ford you need to place car in brake maintenance mode, a very simple process no special equipment required. Once you do that the rear caliper piston is easily compressed even by hand or with screwdriver or small pry bar. If you’re going to make a how to video you should at least look at the ford service manual for the car. Lot’s of KZbin videos showing how to put you electric parking brake car into brake maintenance mode.

I don't understand why the rear piston needs to be rotated back in the caliper. Then you drive a car and apply the brakes, the piston moves outward , pushing the brake pad on the disc. I've always gently pressed in the piston using the old brake pad and a C-clamp.

Dumb question... Did you use pad grease? Is that still a thing?

khumprp Lol no questions are dumb here. Certain “schools of thought” will have people using grease on the back of the pads. The truth is brake pads now have an insulator (thin pad) on the back of most of them that functions the same way grease would virtually eliminating squeaks.

Thanks for the video! Saved me some money even though it was a pain in the ass the first time. Lol.
