2013 Bentley Mulsanne Mulliner Test Drive & High-End Luxury Car Video Review

In 2010 Bentley revived the nameplate. Now this High-End luxury car comes with a hefty $296,000 price tag that puts it in the top-echelon of automobiles. The name Mulsanne comes from a stretch of racetrack at the famed Le Mans in France.
In the world of the 1%'ers there exists a decision to be made: do you want a driver's car or a car to be driven in? But with the 2013 Bentley Mulsanne you can have both. This is a car that you can very comfortably be driven in or give your chauffeur the day off and hop into the driver's seat and have a good time. The Mulsanne is the biggest and most expensive Bentley currently on the market. Add on the Mulliner Driving Specification Package and the price swells even more.
The Mulsanne has big bold styling on the outside. The first thing you notice is the gorgeous flying "B" hood ornament. The large dual lights have been a Bentley design cue for many years and the prominent matrix grille has been a staple for decades. There are dozens of exterior color choices and the one seen in this video is called "Fountain Blue". The mono-block style wheels measure 21-inches in size. The overall package screams Bentley.
Under the hood is a big, bad 6.75 liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that makes 505 horsepower and 752 lb-ft. of torque. Bentley says the car will go from 0-60 MPH in a little bit over 5.0 seconds. The transmission is an 8-speed automatic. The fuel economy is only 11 MPG in the city and 18 MPG on the highway thanks to the huge engine and hefty 5699 lb. curb weight.

My first choice would be the Ghost or Ghost EWB. Less dynamic yes (but still more than a Phantom, it's a Rolls to drive), but we're talking about limousine not sport car. And the Ghost has more power (570hp vs around 520hp don't remember). She is more comfortable with the "carpet ride" and a better noise insulation. And she has a bigger boot and with almost the same rear legroom while being shortest (if you go for the EWB she has A LOT more rear legroom) and she had more headroom. Fuel consumption is lower has well ;) And it look better I think, more unique. It's the Rolls-Royce of the limousine ;) Still, the Bentley would be my second choice.

nah, the RR ghost is the same as the phantom, a car to be driven in. the ghost doesn't come with a lot of the amenities you'd find in a driver oriented car (no paddles or manual transmission control in particular)

Trini Boy The Mulsanne has a 25.4 US gallon tank, that is quite large. You could easily get 350-400 miles out of that with mixed city/hwy driving. Most people don't drive that in an average week.

A superb car, however, the exterior execution seems to look a tad 'plastic and cheap', this type of car demands contrasting paint options of either a darker contrasting royal blue or maybe champaign grey. Heavy chrome fittings should adorn this massive front grill as well. Another thing that bears mentions is that all the exclusive six-figure motor coaches are 'step-down' platforms, I'd prefer the old fashioned step-into or step-up configure carriage systems of decades past. I guess I am old fashioned.

No other car in the market can match the Mulsanne's finish. Not a single chrome part is plastic, even the black buttons are made of crystal. And some people would rather get a more understated presence on the streets while enjoying this supreme luxury at the wheel, choosing a serene light hue like this one or silver, which is more elegant yet subtle.

Jeff Puha You are the one who obviously have never had the chance to compare both vehicles side to side -or are pathetically biased, and I have numerous times as my uncle owns a 2008 Phantom and I own myself a 2013 Mulsanne MDS. Phantom exhibits tasteless details such as a few plastic chromed buttons, BMW E46 shiny plastic belt buckles or a plastic steering column shroud among others, which would be unthinkable on the Bentley.

Jeff Puha Phantom II has only removed the plastic chrome hardware on the dashboard, everything else remains as I said. And you clearly stated the Phantom in general, not the latest update. Get over it. My serial number? Why not my ID card number as well? I have always been a RR fan, my dad owned a Silver Shadow II in the late 70s and the Phantom has aged remarkably well in my opinion just as I have been harsh towards Bentley for using a FWD platform on the Continental/Flying Spur saga and its inherent bastard proportions vs the aristocratic RWD stance on the Ghost, so I am not biased unlike yourself. Just stating verifiable facts and, like it or not, Bentley has paid more attention to small refined details than RR has.

Please check some videos first before u write. Pls check bentley mulsanne specs. Hyundai for me is bulky and plastic all over the car. Bentley are special with its own hand made leathers and engine. The uniqueness of bentley are simply superb compare to Genesis.
