The boom is mounted to the helmet in the centre(ish) with a counter weight on the opposite end. If you watch the tight circles, the weight, which is heavier than the camera makes the camera stay in the centre of the circle, through centrifugal force.

what determined where the camera was around his head? I get how it always is aiming at him, i just cant determine how its orbit was changed.

Thank you. I had no idea, and could not conceive of a mechanism to do this. I thought it must have been a very skillful remote control helicopter (toy sized) pilot, with a Go-Pro or something. Thank you.

Depending on the mount used that rubber piece doesn't work.

If it wasn't for the shadow of the camera I was dumbfounded on how this was being filmed.
