This is an amazing and well done video, i’ve been looking for information on how to do this for a long time this is the only one out there and it’s very well done, thank you very much. Is it possible to show a bit more in detail about the hose modification you did toward the back of the engine just before removing the intake manifold? I began the process and the passenger side if rather easy but the driver side is pretty involved especially since it has the computer, computer mounting bracket, and transmission dipstick to contend with. This video I very appreciated. Please continue to make more with this engine. I have a 2014 GLK 350 4-Matic and need to perform this job.

No need to pull the manifold bolts. Just loosen then lift the manifold as level as possible, the bolts will drop back into the plenum holes.

Is this mostly the same process with doing the other side? I need to replace the injector on cylinder 6, otherwise this is a really well put together including every step, and not having the camera pointed away from what your doing like a lot of videos are.

To do the back manifold bolts easier and safer, pull the rubber firewall trim off and flex the edge back. Then a straight setup works. Loosen fully, but leave the bolts in the manifold when you pull it. They can't fall out, they're in a sleeve.

Also if you can please do a video on how to re seal the valve cover. I think you was about 85% of the process. I can’t find a video like that and looks to be a fairly common problem

This was a fantastic video! Thank you! My front timing covers were leaking on my new-to-me 85kmi 2013 E350. So I grabbed the FSM (WIS/EPC) and figured all this out the hard way on my own to pull the covers and re-seal them. I also replaced both secondary timing chain tensioners and camshaft solenoid O-rings, installed tensioner check valves while I was at it and thoroughly cleaned the front of the engine. I swear to god, the first thing I thought of after all that work was how I was going to rig a vacuum adapter to that back hose with the yellow stripe! Removing and replacing that tiny bolt securing that vacuum line was the worst part of the whole job for me! Is that 1/8th inch fitting? I'm going to cut that line and throw that union in it as soon as I get the chance! Aside from that pain in the ass, yeah, the plenum and airbox are cake to pull. WIS states to replace all seals though, which I did.

@@CORZER0 Thanks for the reply. What is WIS EPC I know where the timing marks are on the right hand bank ( thats sitting in the car ) but i'm not to sure about the left bank. Did you use s special tool to insert the check valves or use some other means. Someone told me I would have to hold the camshafts in position but I wached a video of the right hand bank being done and the cam covers were not removed. Ps It's a right hand drive car as I live in the UK. l

@@jeffrobbins2318 You need a special tool, or you need to know what it is/does and build your own (others have done that). I bought my check valve tool on ebay, as well as WIS/EPC. Cam covers are not removed. Just follow the instructions in WIS/EPC. I did my 2013 E350 last April and I'm about to start pulling apart my 2013 S550 and install new tensioners and check valves in it as well. 80k mi on my E350, 40k mi on my S550. Neither needed the work done, but eventually they will, and I like to work on my own cars. @@CORZER0 Thanks again I take it that wis/epc is some kind of instruction manual. I've since found out how to time up bank 2 so thats one problem eliminated. As far as the insertion tool is concerned I dont no whether to buy one or try to make something. Anyway the big question is did the procedure work, has the rattle stopped.

Great video! Thanks very much. Can I add that you should replace the green plenum seals? They are very expensive for what they are but if they are re-used they can leak air and you'll get the engine management light on - if the air leak is bad the engine may not run at all. The worse bit is that the air leak tends to start after a few days. I know this because my Mercedes Benz dealer failed to replace these seals after re-installing the plenum.

Fel Pro sells a gasket kit for the upper and lower manifold on the M276, it is only $35 for both in one kit. No need to spend $10 each for 6 upper and 6 lower. I have used 2 sets of these so far and very happy with fit. Color is now blue rather than red for lower and green for the upper manifold gaskets.

The intake gaskets are rather pricey but can be purchase from FCP Europe for a lower price ($6.40 or so) than that of the dealer at a higher price.

To completely remove the fuel rail the fuel lines need to come off and some of the retainer bolts/screws are very hard to get to. It takes a lot of time.
