A slightly backwards video of how to remove/change the alternator and the water pump on a 2013 Toyota Yaris 1.3L 16V petrol/gasoline engine, I have to say I have changed a few water pumps in my time but this one did try my patience quite a bit.
Sorry for the slightly out of sync video but it was one of those hard to film until you have worked how to do it...hope it helps

Thank you for the video. I have the same car and engine. A question: the manual says that after the first replacement of the belt after 6 years, it should be done every year. It sound strange to me. Probably it's an error? Or they mean only inspection? Do you know anything about it? Thanks again 🙂

Excellent video, helped me heaps - would you recommend a particular brand of wipes for cleaning the old parts, before re-fitting

I got the thermostat and the water pump out today. I did not want to struggle with all of them bolts and bought an electric Milwaukee ratchet. None of the bolts got stripped and it still took me a while to get everything off. 😅

Hello, Trevor! I find this video very helpful. I am about to do about the same procedure on my 2010 Toyota Urban Cruiser with 100000 miles on the meter. The rubber hoses were in terrible condition so I am changing them as well. The worst hose (hard and brittle) is the small hose going to the thermostat housing. I’ve got a new thermostat too. I see that you unscrewed the motor mount there. Did you have to take any precautions regarding that? Do I need to jack up the engine if I were to do the same? Best regards from Sweden 🇸🇪

Hello Jonas.... to be honest I can't remember jacking up the engine... but it is a wise precaution if you remove engine mounts...be careful where you jack it up, spreading the load with pieces of wood is another precaution...the urban cruiser is fairly rare in the UK...RAV4's are everywhere! we had one featured in other video's of mine has winter finished in Sweden or dose that happen in June!! ...all the best...Trevor

@@jetblack11td Hello Trevor! I’ve been stubborn enough not to remove the engine mount. That electric ratchet was a really good investment. We’ve got two Toyotas with that same engine model 1NR-FE. Both are pretty uncommon in the EU and in the UK, I’d reckon. The other car is a Toyota Verso-S. It’s called Ractis in Asia and ,oddly enough, in Malta. Winter is about to end. It’s still considered to be winter, but the sun is warming. There’s hardly any snow left and the temperatures are slowly picking up. I wish you a really nice weekend. Be safe and take care.

Hello joker … thanks for the comments….ours failed at about 75K miles which is about 120K kilometres….. so at 175k kilometres there is a fair chance it’s probably pretty worn out…. All the best…..Trevor
