Thank you for taking the time to highlight this issue and updates. A bought a 2014 model and it's the same ticking, less noticeable after it has warmed up but still there.

I have a street triple rs 2018 and it does the same ticking sound. Dealer said might be the exhaust muffler but from what I read in your videos probably not right?

I've read the ticking is common on the street tripples. But was for the older models. But seems to be a common fault with all tripples. There are some YT videos on those. I'd say have a look on them and if you think it's the same it sure will be the chain tensioner. Also make sure to use OEM oil filter.

19y street triple here. Replaced the tensioner at 20k km, pity that the ticking sound is never away. Have tested many combinations of oil and filter, nothing really help. Even worse, the clutch sound terrible when starting cold. I think the engine is only happier when it revs high.

I have this also, I have did same repair like you Brou, but ticking is still there, it is less hearable, but it is there. Weard because my friends 1200 xc does not do this. If someone can find the root cause of this , a lot of tiger users will be really happy if you share. Cheers

Hi Martin, I've tried to talk this with dealership but they do not acknowledge that there is an issue. They said there is no affect to the bike's performance and it's just the engine noise with use. I couldn't say much after that actually. But I agree with what you say. Replacing the cam and chain helped a bit with rattling in a cold start for me. I think the initial issue could be build quality.

2023 rally pro owner. Mine sounds hust like this. Close. It goes awa if you're not next to it. Sounds clattery. It's fine. I was checking my oil level, thinking it all drained out 😂

After checking the first vid and comparing the sounds ... for me it sounds the same :/ Have the same one as you for 2 Sec after start its a bit noisy but it calms after that. I need to get used to that and Triumph machines.

It happens recently on my new tiger 900 rally pro. I’m thinking it might be normal..

Hi, what's the mileage of your bike ? Have you checked if it sounds the same on other bikes with similar milage and model

Same in mine tiger 900 rally 2020 - 13.600 kms

As far as I know for both 800 and 1200 it is a normal sound of the engine and does not affect anything but our ears, I got worried about it whe I first notice it so we’ll have to get used to it

Is it the case for newer models as well ?

I have a new 24 900 GT PRO sand the engine sounds awful at idle. Sound like everything is rattling inside. I think it is just the way Triumph builds these bikes. Tolerance is not that of a Japanese built motor.

Hi @robm3357 I've not ridden a 900 before but have had 1000+ kms on the 2023 1200. I never really like the new engines after they changed the whole dynamics. The sound the smoothness is better in the older generations. However I didn't hear rattles and lot of noise from this engine. I assume the 900 have the same-ish too.

@@rider_bravo I used to complain about how noisy my Victory Vision was. But not since a purchased the Triumph. It’s hard to explain as there is so many noises from the bottom of the engine. When you let the clutch out there is a lot of backlash gear noises also. When it’s idling all I can think about is this is what gears would sound like if you threw a handful of sand in the crankcase. Having owned a massive amount of bikes and repairing and rebuilding many I don’t know how they managed to get a motor to make so many strange noises.

I can't even find part 1 to be able to hear the difference
@rider_bravo2 жыл бұрын
Hi, It is quite hard to hear the difference from the recording. I only used my phone to record these videos. Sorry for that. But after replacing parts the noise did die down but not dramatically. Everyone says TEx motor is loud. Cheers
