You are the only person who actually posted a video showing how to fix my specific issue with my specific car. Please let me know how I can buy you a coffee

Ha, any time your down in Florida! The rebuild from this video only lasted 3 months. So buy a spare if you didn’t replace it yet! This was my buddy’s car it finally broke and I sent him this video to fix it, his only problem was figuring out the wire clip.

I just tried this in my 2012 beetle. It was a nightmare trying to start stopping it, but with your help, it works like brand new. 🙂👍

Cool! Love to hear that it worked for you!

Thank you! After hearing the problem came back in 4 months, I decided to try something else as well. I mixed white vinegar and salt together, and dapped my eraser head into it, mixed it up. Removed the visible corrosion on the connectors. Then let the connectors sit there with the liquid solution on them for a few minutes before I wiped them off. Someone reply under here a year from now and I'll respond with the longer term result

Followed your guide to access that button in my 2015 TDI SEL Passat. I like the pencil eraser trick but all my pencils that still have erasers are pretty old and brittle so I did the cleaning with alcohol and a q-tip. Works like new, thanks for the guide to get to the button! I did lose one metal retainer clip but it holds it securely. If it breaks or if the cleaning doesn't last long at least I know it's an easy DIY op to replace the switch with a new one.

Seems to have worked. I knew about cleaning contacts with an eraser but I was mostly looking at the FOB. Thanks for pointing me at the correct problem spot.
@RealityUniverse Жыл бұрын
It didn’t last too long after I cleaned before it needed it again, perhaps I didn’t do the best job cleaning the contact. I got a new one finally!

Do you know if I can apply this to my 2013 Golf Sportwagon ?It has the start/stop button by the steering wheel.
@RealityUniverse2 жыл бұрын
I would assume it’s the same, but I do not know for sure. If the button looks the same it’s probably very similar. Good luck!

Please let me know how did you put it back in mine just wont stay anymore!
@RealityUniverse2 жыл бұрын
There should have been 2 little metal pieces that held it in place. You should have seen them when you removed it. If you didn’t the may have fallen down inside under the console.
