you buy diesels for life, not because you might want to sale it later.

No you don’t. You sell them before they become too expensive. Diesels are a false economy. By the time they’ve amortized their added cost in fuel savings, they start costing big money with injectors and fuel pumps and other issues. Their durability is a myth. Any gas engine will last as long.. it’s just that people refuse to throw money at them because they are worthless. Meanwhile people tolerate diesels doing things they’d never tolerate in a gas engine. Oh it’s hard to start in the cold.. better get that ether. Oh it burns a quart of oil every week.. well, diesels do that. Good thing that I junked my gas vehicle when all it needed was a tune up.. I’m going to throw away thousands of dollars on a new turbo. Unless you really need the torque for towing and hauling... or you are driving 30,000 miles or more a year (in which case you need to change your lifestyle or have a company pay for it), you don’t need a diesel.

It will run without. However I wouldn't do that unless you want a warning light, and a damaged emission system.

Ive heard jetta diesels suck. I dont know how true that is. Hopefully chevy wont let us down with this 2.0 diesel engine

Pick up a MKV Jetta TDi or MKVI Golf TDi... Steer clear of the depreciation machine that is the Chevy. Also they look better.

why there always need to be automatic gearbox? is it cause in 'Merica there isn't but straight roads? Then again I live in Finland and as a rally people we love serpent sand roads and manual boxes.

Most people have 15-30 min commute to work, on long straight highways lol. So auto's became the choice of most people.
