Just wanna note you DO have to make sure the steering wheel DOESN'T SPIN, you can ruin the clockspring if the wheel spins completely around. I always use the seatbelt wrap around the bottom of the wheel and latch it in, pull the seat tight. Now your all set

I ended up soaking the joint with WD-40 instead of replacing. So far so good.. Well see how it goes.

Question- What's the reason to remove the battery negative cable? Is there a possibility of airbag deployment?

More of a fail safe. Even when changing oil some recommend to still disconnect.

That's what I've got going on. Thought it was the inner or outer tie rods but just got those replaced and still clicking/clunking when turning the steering wheel
