I've owned a '14 F-Type V8S (later rebadged the R) since 2016. Has about 45,000 miles on it now. Car runs flawlessly, has been nearly bullet-proof and still gets tons of attention wherever I go. It's also ludicrously fast and the engine sounds like thunder. And yes - I've never once used the speed limit function (other than to see if it works). It's kind of pointless because anyone you lend the car to can just disengage it by touching a single button. PS - I'm in NEPA if you ever want to take it for a spin.

One of the important things to note about this car, and all Jags in general, is their warranties go absolutely batshit hard. 5 year 60k mile full warranty, that includes batteries, trim pieces, the convertible top motors once those take a dump, you name it. Plus, a lot of these had additional year or two year extended warranties you could tack on, which covers most of your important shit save basically batteries and cosmetic stuff. That meant, if you bought this in 2014, your repairs could have been anywhere from 95 to 100 percent covered until goddamn 2021, POST PANDEMIC. Which is absolutely mind-boggling, very very few manufacturers offer that, let alone in the luxury space. Granted, it's a Jag, so you're gonna be using every last bit of that warranty when it breaks lol. But it really did make a compelling buy case for these, you were 100 percent getting your worth in terms of performance and upkeep. Its a shame Jag basically doesn't exist anymore.

@OnboardG12 ай бұрын
The soul of Jaguar is encapsulated by that Super Bowl advert with Mark Strong and Tom Hiddleston. A Porsche is the CEOs car. A corvette, the hero’s. The Jag is the villain’s car. Not the Lex Luther, Elon Musk style of villain. The quiet chap in the bowler hat with a sabre in his walking stick and a brandy waiting at his club. Ruthless, polite to a fault and probably more respectful to the leading lady than the hero. The sort of villain you wouldn’t mind winning. The sort you’d imagine yourself being.

Jaguars can do that. I had my '86 XJS for about a year, and used it as a daily driver. Apart from being gorgeous (subjectively, I know they're not everyone's cuppa), it proved to be a damned good car. While it did start to become /ordinary/ in that not every drive was a special occasion, it never became dull. I ended up selling it for more than I paid for it, and don't regret one day of ownership. I felt like royalty behind the wheel. Other Jags of all eras and price levels feel the same.

I rented this exact year and model on Turo for a 3 day weekend around wine country in California a few months ago. Sound was amazing, had nearly 0 tread left on rear tires which made it step out at 40% throttle and seats were so uncomfortable. It also threw a check engine light on the 2nd day, about a dozen electrical codes about misfires and sensors failing. None of the faults mattered when you put the exhaust in LOUD MODE and hammered it.
