I had a 2014 just like this, with the i-eloop system. It is one vehicle that I always wish I had kept. The miata bug hit me and I traded it for the 2016 when it came out. I really like your style of review, it was really easy to watch.

Saw someone else with a pre refresh 6 with the i-eloop and without skipping a beat mentioned it already went out, but the rest of the car is problem free. My 2016 6 just hit 70k miles and other than increasingly audible general wear/tear items, absolutely nothing even moderate other than the low profile tires needing replacement pretty quickly...

@ Matthew Norton, with your current mileage have you had any issues associated with carbon build up in the sky active engine? Since these are direct injected only, I was wondering if people with high mileage have experienced issues? I'm asking because there have been a few for sale in my area but I've held back only for the issue of carbon build up. Thanks!

I got a black 2014 iSport hatchback back in 2015 brand new - so the most barebones Mazda 3 you could get. I've had it for almost 10 years now, and only put about 75k miles on it. But it still drives like an absolute dream, and is still BONKERS FUN up until this very day! I have so much fun bullying a lot of fast drivers on the NJ, PA, & NYC highways around me🤣 While I will never be able to literally keep up with most cars on the road, you'll still catch me blast 80+ mph on the highways often, blasting by most drivers. The car only really "feels" slow when you're trying to accelerate. But when you're already flying fast, and you still feel how much control you have with this car, that's how you know you are driving an incredible machine ❤ I feel bad that I want to trade mine in for the new Mazda 3 Turbo....

If our family hadn’t made a priority of camping in a travel trailer, I’d still be driving my Mazda3 hatchback. Like you, the only down side I knew for my mid-level version was road noise. Even mine with the 2.0L was plenty fast with the 6 sped auto. You just had to make the request with a small lead time so the trans dropped a gear and let the motor spin up. Sweet ride, and great review!!

I've got a 2014 GT at the top trim and engine level. Only 3 problems in 6 years. There was an issue with the belt tensioner having a sharp edge that snapped the belt twice. The battery froze, which I actually think is caused by my block heater possibly not working. The infotainment center sometimes goes haywire and selects random functions. Other than that it has been a very reliable car for 140,000 km. Very happy with it. Now if only Mazda would build a pickup truck again I would trade it in.

I mean....I'd say having "I wish" and "I enjoy" notes is a decent long term review. Sure the content could be a little more thorough, but overall it's not bad. I'd say maintenance and reliability would be the only thing I'm really missing. That said, the fact that nothing stood out as particularly bad? That says good things too. Same with the materials.
@kasevr
@kasevr 4 жыл бұрын
Theres not too much to say honestly, the mileage and maintenance has been what you would probably expect. around 30mpg as advertised and nothing but regular maintenance. The only flaws with the interior are the center console armrest hinge which breaks easily and some creaks and rattles.

The torque converter locks right away which makes it feel way more “sporty”, sense itll keep revs sense the motor and trans are in linked together, plus it responds pretty fast when using it in “manual” mode. Big plus when in cruise control, itll downshift and upshift as needed to maintain speed. Its got some dunlops and its very nice. Handles great. And rides well.

I do like the side view styling of the Mazda3, this one shows that. I have never owned a Mazda, although I do like the design of the models,..here where I live, it just seems that the one dealer in my area, is not 'hungry' enough for business, and friends I have, find the same 'feeling' when we visit the dealership,...strange! ( but that's a local issue here, I know ) This '3' as shown here, (owned by Case) has the right color to attract and add to it's looks, it is too bad it's not equipped with a manual transmission,.....but that 2.5 engine is apparently, bullet proof. Good video Case, you've presented it well!

184 hp, not a lot?? I drove compact cars with 4 cylinders from GM in this class in the late 90s and 2000s that made anywhere from 140hp-155hp. The Mazda3 makes a good amount of power especially for a car it's size. It's especially torquey in the low range. Hatchback is only better if you're hauling a lot of stuff.

My 2015 Mazda 3 Grand Touring i Soul Red hatchback looks like yours without the add-ons. My quick review. I chose the 2.0 engine. It's pretty peppy and doesn't leave me wanting. The gas mileage is very good. I've never re-set the gas mileage meter since new and it says 34.3 MPG and that's with all sorts of driving. The Soul Red looks good but scratches easily. The original Yokohama tires got super noisy around 30,000 miles and the upgraded Yokohama tires I installed quieted things down. The command knob must be used for navigation, radio etc when driving and it's a pain. You must navigate through a long list of "favorites" you set up to find your station among all sources. Much scrolling. All told though, it's great handling, handsome and reliable car with great gas mileage.

Ive kept mine completely stock same castrol 5w30 oil always but ive only had to top it once... It doesnt burn oil i am just worried theve never changed the transmission fluid or spark plugs. I want to keep the car forever. Its really had no issues beside premature brake pad wear and a few cracks on the driver plather seat. Was also wondering that since its a GDI will it benefit from an oil catch can?. It jerks very slightly when i pull away after a cold start

My 2014 is on its second transmission. Due to a manufacturing defect, most automatic transmissions of this year experience bearing failure in the differential, and begin making a loud whining noise that is speed dependent. I am considering buying a manual 3, because this car is otherwise very reliable. But im also afraid if the differential in the manual might fail too.

You should talk Kase into joining 3rd Gen Mazda3 Owners on Facebook. A lot of people in there would enjoy seeing his car. This video has been shared in the group twice that I have seen. Also, I have a 2016 with 94,000 miles and I still love it haha

Hi, I have a 2016 mazda top spec which I bought new, please consider your options carefully before buying. Don't rely on looks. I have had a few issues with my mazda 3 that the dealership refused to fix for free in spite of the warranty. Currently there's my tensioner that needs fixing, mazda fixed it for free about a year and a half ago, but the same issue is happening and now they want $800 to fix it. There's also my starter motor that they say is noisy and reccomend that I change at the "low" price of $550. Last year I changed my serpentine belt at mazda for the "cheap" price of $650. I love my mazda and the way they drive and always drive it very conservatively, but for the sake of my pocket, my next car will be a toyota.

Those wheels, so much nicer than the standard 18s. The black trim was standard on a special edition sport black in the UK.

Bought my 2015 I-Touring in Mar 2015 and 8 years later and the only breakdown were some speakers. I have an extended comprehensive from the Mazda dealer out to 2026 so the speakers were covered. Love the car. The blind spot monitoring on side view mirrors was standard on the I Touring then. Love the car. No reason for me to get rid of as I cannot replace my satisfaction with this car with another I know of. Of note, I replaced the standard antenna with a shark fin with no impact on the high def radio. It looks like a a Gran Touring with the shark fin antenna.

They much have changed it for the 2015 model year because I have a 2.5L with a 6-speed manual transmission in my 2015 3S Touring Hatchback and I love the car. As of this morning i have just over 97,000 on it and it's been flawless as my daily driver.
