bought an exactly same set up but in white color...fixed that nav button from online purchase and had friends helped me installed it...less than $500 and a six-pack got the job done and now i have tomtom

I've been looking for a review of this car in the snow for ever!!!! Thank You TFL!!
@brian5o10 жыл бұрын
The reason for the navigation button on the car stereo is that Mazda has designed it to allow navigation to be added a la carte, all you have to do is purchase the navigation module from Mazda and plug it in. I am not sure where the port is for the nav module on the 6 but on the CX-5, it is on the dash to the left of the steering column. It is great to see a review for a 6 with the manual. I do wish that Mazda would begin passing out a few additional colors besides the red though.

The Fast Lane Car You guys should change the ending chime, the winding down. Doesn't sound nice and it gives the viewer a weird feeling... Just an suggestion
@gregorywills223110 жыл бұрын
I just bought that very car and its great. But I agree with her comment about the MP3 player. Every time you start the car the MP3 player doesn't pick up where it left off and instead starts over from the beginning. That is by far my biggest complaint about the car. The NAV button that doesn't do anything is kind of annoying, too. The car doesn't have a sunroof.....why doesn't it have a sunroof button that doesn't do anything? ; ) But still.....the car drives beautifully and has been great so far.

Peter P. - You should check your facts. Mazda offers the manual transmission in both the Sport and Touring models. Emme is correct on this fact.

Finally someone on TFLcar who says to get Winter tires. All season are good for 1 year only & after that everyone should get Winter Tires for Winter driving :-) As for the Mazda 6 I had a '89 626 & it was a smooth little rocket & space for my 6.4" frame. Zoom Zoom :-)
@Bruningable10 жыл бұрын
So Winter tires are not required by law in the US? In Austria we have in the period from November 1st to April 15th a "situation-dependent" obligation to fit winter tires. Fines: 35-5000€ ...
@bigfatengineer10 жыл бұрын
Bruningable No, winter tires are not mandatory in North America other than the Canadian province of Quebec.
@sgbradley10 жыл бұрын
Bruningable In Canada it depends on the Province but #Quebec is like Austria you get a fine of $2500 CDN plus you get it towed home until another tow brings it to a garage to get them on. Studs should be allowed in Canada too but are only allowed in the North where its dirt roads.
@sgbradley10 жыл бұрын
bigfatengineer I think NewFoundland also its mandatory

Being in Alberta, Canada, the only thing that stops me from buying Mazda sedans would be the lack of AWD. Ever since I bought my Subaru in 2009, I've pretty much decided that AWD is imperative for any year-round car I own (and winter tires when November hits).

Emme mispoke on availability of 6speed manual transmission. It's available only on the Sport model. Touring and Grand Touring get only 6speed auto transmission with flippy paddles.

Seems like Mazda may have a bit of Zoom,Zoom left in them. Nice that they added a little touch of sport in a segment where sportiness has been bred out of the other cars. Many of us do not use laundry baskets so I have to ask- would Nathan fit in the trunk? :-)

Finally a somewhat sporty car to review. Best of all we get to admire the beautiful Emme Hall! :-) If I had to lug around more than 1 person, and use the same vehicle to get stuff from the Home Depot or IKEA, I would take the 6 in a heart beat.

Love the car. Great review. Just a heads up, the 2.2 diesel Skyactiv is on old because Mazda isn't hitting their performance benchmark under required federal emissions testing. I'm waiting for that engine too.

I bought a sedan recently and test drove the Mazda 6 back to back against the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord Sport (6-speed), VW Jetta TDI, Subaru Legacy, and Hyundai Elantra/Sonata... The Mazda 6 was the best of the bunch but there were two reasons I didn't get one: 1) the seats were awful (absolutely no lumbar support to speak of and the seat tops pushed my shoulders and head forward...gaining adjustable lumbar required a jump up in trim level which cannot be had with a manual) and 2) the dealership only had slushbox equipped cars and could not give me a timeline for when they could get a manual on the lot. I ended up buying the Accord Sport 6-speed instead mostly because the seats were far more comfortable.
@TheCobruhAlienat0r10 жыл бұрын
You could have went to a different Mazda dealership and tell them about how the other dealership didn't really want your business and I'm sure they would have worked with you.
@AlexVenz10 жыл бұрын
TheCobruhAlienat0r There was no point in going out of my way to find a manual Mazda 6, the seats were a dealbreaker. A different dealership would have been no more able to conjure up a 6 with decent seats or a manual transmission trim level combination that Mazda does not manufacture.
@AlexVenz10 жыл бұрын
Bud Light Drove it separately and wasn't interested--I didn't really like the interior, the handling wasn't bad but wasn't particularly good, and I hated the CVT (which is the only transmission option).
@markosgervacio10 жыл бұрын
I have the 2014 i sport base model and it does have adjustable lumbar support. Maybe you just missed it on the left side of the seat :)
@AlexVenz10 жыл бұрын
Mark Reposar Interesting... I recall pressing everything on the seat's side and not coming across adjustable lumbar (also don't recall it being listed on Mazda's site until you hit higher trim levels). Either way, the head/shoulder push wasn't comfortable for me and my wife was having even more issues with the seats than I was. It's a great car, the seats just didn't fit me or my wife well. I'm sure they'd be great for some people...just not us.

I never thought that there will ever be a good looking Asian car. Well, I was wrong. This Mazda 6 looks a b s o l u t e l y fantastic. :-) (But the stick holding the hood up is nothing but ridiculous in 2014...) The Diesel is available here in Europe with 150hp and 175hp.
@fakeappellation734310 жыл бұрын
Is it just me or when you drive automatic, you put the seat all the way to the back but when you drive stick shift, you put the seat a little bit closer to the steering wheel so you can put the clutch all the way down? Therefore seating position behind the driver isn't valid in manual transmissions.
@TheCobruhAlienat0r10 жыл бұрын
You should have the seat as far back as possible but where it still allows you to comfortably reach the pedals and the steering wheel. So I don't get why the seating position behind the driver isn't valid because she should have the seat at the same position for both manual and automatic.

It's worse to not have the Nav button because you'd have to pay way more to upgrade the unit. Also your talk about 4-door sedans is quite silly. I'm sure you are well aware of the countless performance cars that come in that shape.

OK, I live in Southern California and snow tires here are about like 36DD breasts on a nun, nice, but when can you use them? I love my 6 and recommend it highly.
@DrDsIT10 жыл бұрын
The dash and head unit are boring even if the exterior styling and handling aren't. A Bluetooth system that can't successfully stream music is a major reason to pass on the Mazda 6. When I test drove an iGrand Touring the Smart City Braking assist never worked for me or the salesman after 2 dozen attempts.

Well, I never! haha. Oh Emmy if it were not for the fact your so damn cute and I want to squeeze you I may have noticed the car in question. OK, I did notice the car and I love love love the styling the interior over the top on the black and the touch screen looks after market. I think the Mazda 3 looks like a better set up with the touch screen. I have to say when I see a loaded Mazda 6 Touring Premium with those beautiful lines and wheels I want to run to the Mazda dealer. But you know I thought the same with the 2010 Sonata Limited or the SE Turbos.
