I would love to see NBC have covered the event finals. I *NEED* to hear Tim and Nastia's reaction to Mustafina winning bronze on floor and Hong Un Jong winning gold on vault.
@Lana2k69 жыл бұрын
Cody S. Or how she managed to win a bronze on beam despite losing 0.5 for not completing an acro series (she was supposed to do two aerial walkovers, but turned the second one into a front walkover, which is only an A skill and does not fulfill the requirement).

Lana2k6 well on beam Mustafina was very lucky, that all the others had much bigger mistakes. The beam final wasn´t great, only Biles and Yawen were good that day. (and I think maybe if Yawen would not have been the 1st to go she might have beaten Biles) Maybe at this day they should not award a bronze, because non of the rest was medal worthy XD

I'm okay with the guys, they crack me up. I mean Tim, he's been with us forever and I love him. It's Nastia who could climb into a toilet and flush herself for all I givva. I prefer either Elfie or Shannon Miller for the female commentator. Watching Shannon and the team take first ever team gold in 1996 was absolutely AMAZING! :oD

I love how the US won the Bronze and are still grateful for it...we got a medal..thats what mattered..for Japan they look super pissed. I think when you come in second you can be a bit pissed because you were almost at first be thats better than nothing..couldve been the UK
@jeanneevans92999 жыл бұрын
Ashanti Edwards I was totally thinking the same thing. I liked how the American's were happy with the bronze. :) I have heard there is a huge rival thing going between Japan and China, so I guess that was why Japan seemed mad. I think it would be far worse to be 4th though, because you barely miss getting a metal.
@MsPiepanda9 жыл бұрын
+Ashanti Edwards Like the last person said it's because they have lost behind China so many times. People believe that this year. It was difficult for them to accept it because they were so close. But hey they won in Glasgow and their faces were priceless

The little gymnast comment they made about Shang Chunsong bothered me. She's actually even even smaller than her teammates because she suffered from malnutrition.
@katertot464310 жыл бұрын
I have to agree, it'd be so nice to see the Chinese team put on some weight so they could really compete on vault and floor. Yao was looking physically well but the whole team needs some muscle.
@trinitystar969 жыл бұрын
I don't know about all of them but Shang's family are very poor so she grew up malnourished and now cannot easily put on weight
@Aizhaqueeni8 жыл бұрын
Her family can't afford to feed her? Really?? If she's competing for her country, I'm sure they can swing more than a bowl of rice for her every now and again, I mean really.
@trinitystar968 жыл бұрын
AJ McCane no, when she was younger. if you are malnourished when you are very young- it can affect your body shape and health as you grow older. look up any story about her and you can see that it is true.

I have to believe that the commentators are told to talk as if everyone watching is new to the sport. New to the rules, new to hearing their banter. That’s the only way I can tolerate listening to Tim and Al repeat the same lame comments over and over again.
@russiangymfan10 жыл бұрын
Tim Dagett is so biased! Chenglong's high bar score is well deserved with no any major form breaks and he has the highest start value! Tim loves to use magnify glass to point out every tiny imperfection in Chinese routines, typical double standard comment.

I love the commentators, but the stuff they said about Shang Chunsong, intentional or not, was racist. Pointing out that she's small and saying she's unimpressive; that is the most ridiculous. RO + 1.5 (C) + 3.0 (E) + Punch (A) + 0.4 C.V. is worth just as much as Aly's first pass, which they obsessed over, rightfully so. To put it more in perspective, the hardest pass Kyla Ross does is a Double Arabian (E) + Stag Leap, which can't compare. It seems they are not giving credit where credit is due out of racism
@jeanneevans92999 жыл бұрын
I thought the commentators were extremely lame too. Not only what you mentioned, but in the men's as well they kept commenting on how the Japenese are so much better on the high bars then the Chinese. And they were acting all upset when the Chinese got the gold, because Japan is SO much better then the Chinese. (or so they thought) Both are good and China did good enough to get gold. And I've noticed in others where these same commentators will totally go off on how the Chinese aren't very great at the floor routine. And then they'll obsess over some of the others, yeah it's lame is all I have to say.
@rindaann68509 жыл бұрын
Joshua Paik How is it racism? They did not say anything derogatory. They simply expressed their opinion, which if you don't know, in the US it is allowed. I do not find that it was racism. They were simply talking gymnastics. They did not think of the actual scores when they said that, so bringing up her score and bringing up Aly Raisman was unjustified. They were not racist in any way, and for you to say that is semi-rude.
@monicaovalle1729 жыл бұрын
I agree with the commentators
@catriona52689 жыл бұрын
+Joshua Paik Well, she is small...she's tiny! She's only 1.4m and 35kg! And it's noticeable, especially on vault, that the smaller size really does reduce power. Some of the Chinese girls were really struggling to get their passes on floor around as well. Lovely form, but not so much power. The Chinese are generally more petite than Westerners, and gymnastics makes you small and compact, too, so their gymnasts can be particularly little. That's not racist, it's a fact.

I feel like NBC did a poor job of explaining why Max Whitlock was in the AA. Al kept saying over and over how Max "failed to qualify into the top 24", when he actually qualified 14th. Obviously, Keatings and Wilson qualified ahead, so he wasn't originally supposed to be in the AA, but that wasn't explained very well.

I don't get what's NBC's fluff is with Kayla Ross. She had no place in this all around, she just got EXTREMELY lucky! Comparing her to Shang Chunsong like If Kayla was unquestionably better on BB and FX. Uhh Newsflassh Chungsong is better than Kayla on both Floor and Beam (scored higher than her on both events) so idk what this MORON is comparing between them too. This international field is just said! there is something wrong with all of their couches is they fail to produce consistent gymnast. The only reason USA has been so dominant is because Everyone else ALWAYS misses. This AA was the perfect example.
@CBBtheLakota10 жыл бұрын
Everyone else always misses because USA forces everybody to up their difficulty.
@011cra10 жыл бұрын
CBBtheLakota True but they're not biting more than they can chew. For example, Mustafina fell on the double arabian. That's NOT a difficult skill for mustafina who has been competing this skill since before she emerged to elite gymnastics; she gets great height on it a clear indication that she can preform it. BUT she is inconsistence which is where the Americans get everyone.
@kaylajones435610 жыл бұрын
Its Kyla.
@gymbot46110 жыл бұрын
011cra Ross obviously had a place in this AA. A fall is a fall and can't be blamed alone on luck. In fact, luck has little to do with it - there is risk in every skill, but that risk is reduced by preparation and conditioning, which Ross has in abundance. It helped her hit 13 for 13 events while in Nanning. Mustafina had severe ankle problems all last year which affected her preparation before worlds. On the commentary, you are missing the point. NBC is an American broadcasting company - all broadcasters praise their own gymnasts more than others. Al points out that Shang Chunsong is tiny and they discuss her size in comparison to Ross - not their intrinsic gymnastic abilities. Dagget actually says that while Shang is very good, her size is a disadvantage for her in some respects - most evident on vault.
@jeanneevans92999 жыл бұрын
What a lame comment. Everyone has a fall at some point or a bad routine. Simone whose suppose to be the best doesn't do the uneven bars perfect or the beam. Must mean she shouldn't be in either, yeah Kyla is a great one too. You talk like your jealous or something that your not good like her or something. Fact of the matter is it's not luck, these girls are great because they train to be good.

Is it just me, or do Chinese gymnasts and teams "always perform so well" in their own country?? But when the competition is elsewhere, they end up elsewhere too. lol There were some obvious mistakes on both sides that were both overlooked, men and women's. And again, you couldn't pay me to believe their female gymnasts are of age. They're closer to like 10 -- MAYbe.
