Just a quick to the point video on how to change the oil and oil filter on a newer generation Subaru WRX STi. Mine is a 2019 STi.
I'm just predicting that the 2021 will be the same as 2020...so yes, 2015-2021 models :).

I'm looking at getting a 19 or 20 sti in march and have shopping list of things I wanna buy for it, one been a new sump plug from import image racing, the plug as lever on it where you just flick it over and the oil drains so it saves taking plug off. Dont know if you seen this sweet little contraption.

Do you have to change the oil filter and dump out the oil every 3k miles? Real question is do I have to get under the car and do all of what you just did every 3k miles. I’m a new sti owner and total noob.

@CarModGuy 10 ай бұрын
Yeah. Sometimes even sooner depending if your engine burns oil. At the very least keep checking oil level and add on until 3k mark and then change.

If you put too much oil in the crankshaft can dip into the oil while spinning and turn the oil into a frothy foam which can't be sucked up by the oil pickup resulting in loss of oil pressure and can lead to a blown motor
@mred9161
@mred9161 4 жыл бұрын
Ideally fill the filter first before you fit it. You’ll be surprised how much it’ll take to fill it, normally takes several top ups before it settles. Also before you start the car, take the cam sensor off first and crank the engine until the oil pressure light goes out before you then reconnect it and start the car; prevents any potential damage 👍🏻
@JesusTorres-zu8wz
@JesusTorres-zu8wz 2 жыл бұрын
You would only need to do that if you take the turbo off, take the engine apart and rebuild. The engine already has oil on the bearings. With that logic, a person would have to do that after each time they leave the car sitting for hours.
