Managed to wangle the new S1K and give it the traditional 'London' test.
Finally its been injected with a touch more 'passion' and all the electronic jizzy jizzy bang bangs make this an ultimate road weapon with everyday usability.

I just picked up a 2015 S1000RR yesterday, what an incredible machine. Cruise control on a sports bike is totally worth it. The suspension is incredible. The stock exhaust is amazing.

You're correct Sir Grumble. My DDC suspension failed on my HP4 after 8k miles and cost $2200USD to replace under warranty.

Saw last night on Ebay 2014 RSV4 APRC models now going to just under 11K... Some real bargains to be had with last years models at the moment which must be worth considering.. Come on 11K for an RSV4 is a dam fine deal!

it's great to see someone testing a bike in real world conditions I've been riding bikes for nearly 40 years and never been near a track nor do i have any interest in doing so... however what i do like about sport bikes is the protection from the wind at speed....great stuff.

Hmmm - its a complex discussion. Put it this way, all experiences that improve your bike control make you a better rider. However, track riding is so totally different from road riding that it could lead to over eagerness on greasy, unpredictable roads. Equally, if you get your fix on a track, you could calm down on the roads. So it depends on your own mentality. A track is pristine and predictable - the road is anything but.

The Ice Man machine becomes a bit more passionate... Just hearing the new model's engine go up and down the rev range compared to your other vids (HP4, Gixxer etc etc) it's noticeably sounds smoother. Extra gravy on this S1000RR!

I felt the same after a defective fuel pump recall/repair. I'm not sure how much of all that you can really feel in stop and go traffic though, except for the mid-range part. One thing is for sure, if I get another supersport, it will be another BMW.

When you talk about the cheap looking plastic I totally agree. Although I was looking at a cheaper model 800 r (still a £9000 bike), it just looked plastic. You could flex the plastic on the sides and where the tank would be normally with your finger. Totally uninspiring for something on the expensive side.

Using the quickshifter in a low RPM can set some problems. For downshift also. You need to use it for the track, and for high rev's.

Some of your maneuvers dude, let me just say, it's a matter of time before you get a surprise. Case in point, 3:50. If any of those 2 cars decide to turn right, you will crash while attempting that dangerous overtaking. You didn't even wait properly to see if any of them were actually going to the right lane. Don't push your luck while riding. It's all fun in games until you crash.
