Honestly listening to both recordings, I prefer finals because without the mic it actually sounds fantastic and full while in the semifinals recording with the mic it sounds really empty and emotionless, just like a punch of notes being played to a high level with no emtion. Not the player's fault, the speakers kind of ruined the sound imo.

+Dorian Sensat No they shouldn't have. BD was cleaner in almost every aspect. BD's percussion and guard were head and shoulders above Crown, and with a more demanding show as well. However, if Crown's semis and finals runs were switched, I'd agree with you. Unless you're talking about just brass; in that case, Cadets had a very, VERY challenging book this season, and really deserved the Ott.

I remember hearing the brass between Crown and Cadets... and I have to say the judges got it right. I'm not talking from bias....Crown did have a hard book, however, it wasn't as clean on the field as Cadets. Regardless, Crown has been pushing the limits on achievement and should continue to do that. I heard snippets of the 2016 show and my god, it's insane....

+colin busick You're totally correct about the percussion but at the end of the season, Crown and BD were basically tied in the guard caption. I believe crown actually beat BD's guard on semis. On finals night BD got lucky and got a guard judge who happened to love them. Both were amazing but BD capitalized on the subjectivity of judging.

BD was physically cleaner and their percussion is always great. even though BD had 3rd place brass and GE its not enough to compensate for Crowns 5th place percussion. Add all that to the fact that Crown had their cleanest run on semi's not finals. and you have a pretty good reason why BD should have won and did win.

This will always and forever be the biggest snub in DCI history. I already had major doubts about the judges and judging community in WGI and DCI and this literally sealed the deal for me. I had seen RCC win WGI in 2007 with a PSW level show and the blue devils win in 07 over the cadets with whatever their production was. They almost gave BD the title in 08 over Phantom, but the activity may have imploded if that happened. I just can't believe this show only got a 97. What a joke
