A magnetic spark plug socket is really helpful. Good call on the gap. Most of the time, the gaps are inconsistent out of the box. Just a note: always start threading the plugs by hand. Cross-threading is a common and costly mistake.

Exactly in great point there's one other one ALWAYS PUT A SPARK PLUG IN THE END OF A RUBBER HOSE NEVER EVER EVER PUT A SPARK PLUG BACK IN WITH A TOOL ALWAYS A RUBBER HOSE MY GRANDFATHER TAUGHT ME THAT AT THE AGE OF 10 IT IS LAW!!

@@peachyclean93 I used to do that, but now I just put the plug in the socket. I use just an extension to gently guide the threads until they go in pretty far without resistance, then I use a ratchet to tighten them.

@@DiligentDave1966 Yeah that's not a good idea I told the neighbor next to my father that was doing a Subaru to make sure he was using a hose and he said no no I'm fine All of a sudden he came over with his head down I said what's wrong Josh he says I broke a spark plug off he put two of them in wrong $4,700 later! Some people don't listen

@@peachyclean93 I learned from my mistake when I was pretty young. I’m saying that I don’t put the ratchet on the extension until I get the plug pretty much hand tight with no resistance. I haven’t had any issues, and some spark plugs are so deep in the valve cover that it’s really difficult to get them to thread properly with just a rubber hose. I’m so gentle that, if I feel any resistance at all, I back the plug out and start over. I only use my finger tips to turn the extension until the plug is threaded in.

Depending on where I purchase the plugs, usually they all have that information. But you can always do a Google search, year make and model and spark plug gap

The recommended spark plug gap is 0.047
