The Prado has been dominating the SUV segment for a while and now we have a new participant in the list-The Everest has managed to outshine the prado in some crucial and important departments like the engine, ride and handling, dynamics and value for money. The Everset is the direct choice for me. Well done Ford.

I like the toyota LC Prado better it ages well, reliability is the key in 4wd Prado delivers that and prado has been around for ages so. So yeah i trust Toyota Prado.

Ford must be crazy to compare its Everest with Prado, younger brother of the King (Land Cruiser). There are always pros and cons for each car and each brand. The key question is whether you as a buyer want to be in the minority or the majority of users. Think about reputation, reliability, services after sale and importantly resale value. Those factors may vary from market to market. But one thing to remember is that most of people use Toyota than any other brands in the world. That might tell you something in relation to this comparo, doesn't it?

no problem M.A., im filipino but it's an off for me of what Mr. Victor Sarmiento said... i mean yes, a lot of 4x4 out there who have history to back them up... but again isn't the everest already making history with all of the segment firsts in the new everest?.. i think they are. Ford please place the everest in a Dakar rally so it can silence it's critics... it's the only way.

I own the Ford Everest 'Trend' which is the middle spec just below the Titanium. The Trend has 18" wheels so the experience both on and off Road is better than the Titanium. The higher price tag of the Titanium is not worth it in my opinion as the extra features do not make it a better vehicle, so why bother, unless you really have to have a sunroof, Model Name on your dash, a button to lift & lower the 3rd row seats, bigger rims with thinner tyres (madness as this is a 4WD) plus a few extra electronic features including the auto parking feature! In summary, the Trend should have been used for the comparison as it would have not been identified as rougher to ride in off road, plus, if you did not know, has been given the prestigious title of Car if the Year!

Agree...Prado is a proven offf roader for many years...Everest may look and drive great but Prado is still in my opinion a great vehicle...

The worst thing about the prado is the seating. In the front its wide compared to our territory but the 2nd row is tighter than the territory and the only good thing about the 3rd row is its easy to remove. Then the second row dose not fold flat making long items hard to stowe. For example 1.8m lengths of wood did not fit in my prado. I had to fold all the seats up and stack it on an angle and it was hitting the boot and the passenger door the territory would swallow it easy and the second row fits the two kids seats and a large adult but the prado can't. Then you will say oh you can use the 3rd row but I left them at home because their shit. Give me an Everest.

Prado has proven its realiability for many years on and off road. Everest is new and it has a lot to prove as yet.In my opinion Prado is a legend!

I am using ford Everest (which is called Endeavour in our country) for almost 6 months and can tell you this machine is superb. Ford has offered this vehicle with best in class features. I don't know what is wrong with all the haters of Everest, just think Prado is offered with same engine as Fortuner. Put Prado and fortuner side by side and you will see even Fortuner is offering better features then Prado. If you talk about reliability, think, if you would have in place of any other competitors of Toyota what you would have done to win the reliability test of the people. Yes, you would have done the same as Ford has done, they have tested the vehicle in 3000+ conditions. And mind you, today, reliability is the key to success and every manufacturer is well aware about this fact. They have to be reliable if they want to be in running, after all huge money, their hard work and their image is on the stake.

they used criteria here and the overall winner is ford everest. yup prado is a knot higher SuV segment and also much expensive. everest is value for money with all that stuffs. I buy car because I would want to use it and I feel good about it. reselling it after 5 yrs or so is a long time to deny myself of a little joys in life... btw, naturally prado should have better resale because it cost higher, too.

I do not know why in Australia you all compare the Everest to Prado.. Here in our country, they are not on the same segment/level.. The competition of Everest in our country is the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Challenger, Even Isuzu Mu-X, they are on the same level also with regard to the pricing... As with the Prado, it is priced differently, or should I say, it is priced very much higher and its size is bigger than those i mentioned.. And I'm talking about the new Everest.

+Motoring Australia I don't know where Ford is going with this kind of strategy.. Are they aiming for the "elite" when it comes to off-roading? Because if they do, I think they've already lost... Some of the best off-roaders today have a lot of history in them and they are a product of years of off road experience and development. I don't want to judge the Everest that much since they offer a lot in paper, but some of the elite off-road vehicles do better in real-world than in papers.. If given a chance to choose between the Everest and Prado? I'd definitely go for the Prado, for the reason that Ford has a lot more to prove.. Otherwise, the numbers alone can't convince me.

+Victor Sarmiento I think its Ford's marketing team way to validate its high pricing. I think something went wrong in their calculations when developing the Everest because all I hear from whoever test the car is that it is excellent in every way but they all complain about the price. Comparing it to Prado in this particular market can help them justify the cost and help change consumer perception of the car category. I think this was a great comparison and in fact spec for spec (specially safety and driving aids) it does compete with the Prado in this price range. The only remaining question is will the fully specd Fortuner be that much cheaper than the Everest limited?

Toyota prado has been in the market for so long and many has been sold. Everyone knows it's not perfect but it never fail the buyers. Pound for pound it's tried and tested. There maybe a new chalenger in the face of everest, but its still remain to be seen if the everest will hang on long enough to really knock out the real king of the australian bush the Prado. Everest maybe the best seller this year but what about next year, but Prado has always been there done that kind of situation for years. The only one thing i hope toyota would add is they should name their Prado (Toyota "Reliable" Prado) next time. :)
