I just installed Sequoia in 2015 MacBook Pro I7 with dual graphics like yours. I patched post installation and everything but it doesn't show both graphics cards in about this Mac section like yours. I also think that fans are working more than with Monterrey. So I don´t know if the AMD Radeon is working, can you help me? Thank you

I just installed MacOS Sonoma using opencore legacy patcher on my macbook air 2015 (8gbram, 128gb ssd), it's working fine, just a having a 5 seconds delay when opening settings, and a minor heating due to high demand of sonoma (might downgrade to ventura)

@@davidbaratech1484 you have to go into battery settings and somewhere you have an option to always use the integrated graphics, then it will show it in the about this mac section, but it drains more battery and it already switches to the igpu when needed.

I have same MBP mid 2015, if the fans spin up at max noise when you're doing any basic of more heavy task having the latest system is not a really good trade off. also the apparently unregulated fans behaviour can be cause a problem on the long run if you use the MBP for intensive processes like video editing/exporting and graphic rendering jobs. Did you try some fans management app to take over in controll of fans activities ?

Love your channel. I’ve been running Sequoia for about a week (MacBook pro a1278). I haven’t had any issues. I’ve loaded endeavour and worked like a charm. Would love a videos on how to load mint on the second ssd in the optical bay. Look forward to more content!

The fans start up when you start this Mac because the processor does not support the H.265 codec used in live wallpapers. Safari is probably limiting videos to 1080p due to lack of support for the codec. Try using a static wallpaper, and installing a Chrome extension to force the use of the H.264 codec.

I upgraded my MacBook Pro 2017 16 gb rn, i5 to sequoia and it runs fine. The only issue I’m facing is running heavy problems and virtual box makes the laptop heats and the fan makes noise. Not too loud noise but not as it was on the official supported OS of the mac

I enjoyed this video, thanks. I had a mid-2012 MBP 14 for a while and had a good time refurbishing and upgrading it (RAM, SSD, etc). It was very capable considering its age but I finally sold it when the M1 Macs were released.

Might try installing sequoia on my i5 macbook air 2015 too. Wanted to aks too, does installing sequoia directly from the software update works? I’m on a opencore patched sonoma for my air 2015, or should I still make a usb installer via opencore to work?

I appreciate the video on how it goes out of the box , I think everyone wants to know more about the fan issue and I’m sure that’s a great video to cover and u probably will get a lot of views, so that’s my suggestion, what u got to lose the fan speed ? 😂 thanks for the video I’m not sure I want to try it out until this point I just see too many issues and that’s my only Mac machine

Try to put a background Colour (grey for example) and the simplest screensaver you have on your system. I am time to time make tests on my macs (MBP13" from 2012, MBP15" from 2015) and currently the 2015 is on MontereyOS (latest version that installs natively). My 2012 MBP13" is upgrading now to VenturaOS and we will see if the last version of OCLP make his magics. I have 2 HHDD for the 2012, so if anything goes wrong I could install the 2nd HHDD with Catalina on it. When I upgrade to newer OSes on old machines, I always select a colour for background (or the simplest background image I have), put on the display accesibility features (minor movement, transprency off) to help the graphics charge of the system. A week ago I have purchased a new MBP13" M3, so I could compare the performances and features that work and not work. The M3 is on another level, like so many machines from above 2024.

It’s the same as my MacBook Pro 13-inch 2016 Touchbar. It only shows a black screen on my iPad, but when I connected it with a cable, it works (Sidecar).

The Phone mirroring just requires a Mac with the T2 chip, not necessarily Apple silicon.

Hi Eevnos, I installed Sequoia on a late 2013 MBP and it works fine but a touch slow. I then swapped its SSD to an early 2015 MBP. It booted but the keyboard and trackpad were frozen on the login screen. What do you think could have caused this?

Upgraded a 2015 macbook pro retina to Sequoia on an m.2 SSD. The system is slow to load/start. Just wondering if this is regular? It runs fine otherwise, only the starting up is slow. Has anyone else experienced this?

@@tanja-k it’s a little slow, at boot, for me as well. Once tit starts, and the fans calm down, then it’s fine.

@@Eevnos Well , the conclusion ; The install was tricky ( stuck towards the end , restarted , resumed ) lost the dock , but restart , appeared . BUT , it does work really well , very shocked considering i only have 4gb too play with , graphics are surperb , and did not get that hot . Happy Mac !

My mbp 2015 performs quite poorly for mobile dev, but works okay for FE and BE tasks, also, I cannot connect ios devices with ios > v17 on macos 13,14 on unsupported mac... Nice video, In the future, could you perform some ios related tasks in old devices with new os ?

@@Eevnos i mean just some annoying things that mbp 2015 on macos 13,14 make it poor performance: - like build/install/run ios app on emulator device slowly (can be fixed by using phyisic device) - android studio make me unable to boot android emulator, always run out of ram, at least ios emulator can boot (same as above ) - cannot connect ios > v17 to unspported mac (sometime) - window server use too much ram and CPU after hours of usage other than that, it runs well after 9 years which is quite amusing

i have similar problem with my fans on my hackintosh gpu GTX 680 4GB... i think its opencore patching problem that mess something up to cause the fan spinning and for me the fan spin all the time in sonoma and sequia when i let the system at idel and not do something or sometime when i start some youtube video which is a shame :( cause i cant really use the system so im hopping for better patching with 15.1 when it come out lets see what happen.. for now im writing this from mojave

Apple is moving towards many tasks as it has many cores. Old Intel processors have to run all these tasks on fewer cores -> more heat.
