This car is wildly underrated because of its size. Its actually one of the most satisfying daily driver that you can bring to the track for under 45,000$ used. I scoffed at it but when i test drove it and saw how much luxury was packed into this car, along with the gas savng thing it was a np brainer

I can still say it's the best engine ever. I have my 55 for 3 years now. some cooling pipe O-rings replaced, the line feed at the back of cylinder head with a newer part and all just fine. also the exhaust flap problem sorted. great car.

The SLK 55 was my first presscar from Mercedes and soooo much fun to drive and review. Always great to see a new video of this car, they are pretty rare here in germany compared to Boxsters and Z4s. Most people buy the 350 or even 200, but that's a completly different driving exoperience to the 55 :) Great video as always, Kyle ! ***** !

350 with the v6 is also lovely driving! Over 200km/h over the autobahn is really fun, and with your roof down in the alps is the best experience! Never go for the 4 cilinder!

Very much enjoyed the tour. I have one purchased in '16. It is a BLAST to drive. But the steering is much heavier than the SLK 350 previously driven. Ultimately, for me, the 350 handles better on windy roads and accelerates fine, but the 55 moves. Recommend it. Love the start up sound - even the tach goes beyond redline for effect. Likely ticks of the neighbors. I don't care. Sport mode is great fun. Especially with the top down (mostly it is; CA car). Would prefer an SL but garage space in old buildings is somewhat narrow. Best garage ever! Saves lots of money.

Good review but there is one major mistake. The R172 SLK55 AMG Does Not have the MCT Transmission it has a traditional torque converter.

I really don't like Mercedes' decision to retire the 6.2 V8 (one of the best engines ever) but what an engine to replace it with. I've heard the turbocharged version in the E63 in real life and it gives an awesome bassy rumbling grunt. That was just a slow acceleration too.

6.2 have problems. the 5.5 bi-turbo is much more robust and reliable. but lately, they only make the SL 5.5 and 63,both have the 4 liter V8 burbo

I love the cars you do videos on because they aren't exactly the kind of cars you would be able to get an in depth 'review' in real life unless you are rich or are watching Top Gear. Now, the reason I put the word 'review' in quotes is because they don't seem like so much a review as they are something you say in every car before it. It's like you are reading off the brochure or something. Give us your likes/dislikes, pros/cons, and just general opinionated reviews. I just feel every video's 'review' is a rehash of the previous with just a different car to sit in. Make the videos a little more dynamic.

Greg Simoneau Yeah, they were the standard offerings for 2014 and earlier. The LED BiXenon lights are much prettier and were apart of the lighting package. For 2015, they're standard. I with they came on this one (2014 model) as it had just about everything else.

Just out of curiosity, why is it called the SLK55 AMG instead of the SLK63 AMG? I get that they used the same number as the engine displacement but all the other AMG models that use the same engine call it 63 AMG (even though it's the 5.5L V8).

Because it's naturally aspirated where the other 5.5L AMG offerings are usually bi-turbo. The number, in this case, relates to the power output equivalent of the engine.
