Chrysler says to drop the whole engine trans together out of the bottom and then separate it. this doesn't look like a bad way to do it, however.

Getting it high enough is an issue ,and we have high ceilings

Lifting it is a hightop problem. I love this way!

@@kennetholiva641 Ah this makes much more sense! I work with an 18k lift so I can easily stand under a promaster at work. lol

I could only get it so high because of my rack, so had to try

Did you end up pulling the trans with it? Also, mine is a 17, I found a low mile 3.6 out of a 17 Durango for a good price. You know if it'll work if I swap everything over?
@ross11162 жыл бұрын
Its not the same internal parts so less power. It will bolt together and drive though.
@kennetholiva64111 ай бұрын
It came out together so easy, plus you may not be able to get the vehicle very high so the easier the better

So did you need to take all of the top end off to get the engine out ?
@kennetholiva64111 ай бұрын
Not really, but since I was just learning how to pull it I wanted to be as easy as poss

So did you rebuild it or replace motor. Bad valve is what I've been reading. Some people get lucky and go 400k miles so weird random motors go bad. Burning oil sounds like bad rings though. Did you tear it all down and find the issue? Hopefully better lifters are available and valves.
@kennetholiva6412 жыл бұрын
Replaced w crate motor. Didnt open the core because my boss always sends it back super quick. Gonna do another one here soon.
@ross11162 жыл бұрын
Could also be bad valve seats letting oil drip into the cylinders.

How many miles were on the motor and why did you replace it?

100.000 miles ain't that much .should of lasted much longer.but then again work vans live a hard life .tooling around town traffic jams scalding hot days typically overloaded. I have 135.000 on my pentastar no smoke yet thank god.i use conventional oil and filter every 3000 miles .stp 5w 20.
