Just bought a 2020 Big Horn 3.6L. Have had 2 5.7's Rams and have no regrets with the V6. The Hemi is great but I never used it to even half of its capability. The 16 spark plug change at 60k cost me $800. If heavy hauling and heavy towing is needed then ya Hemi is the way to go. But for long commuting, fewer gas stops and weekend Home Depot trips then the V6 makes more sense in my opinion. Good luck on another 100k.

My 2016 barely has close to 26,000 miles with the 3.6. I hope it doesn't ever give me any trouble. It's been very reliable although I don't drive it much. It's done very good traveling here in the Texas climates & areas with hills. I can say that I still love this truck as I did the first day I purchased it. I have the same exact color and trim as you have.

I also have a 2015 ram 3.6 w/ 8speed trans. I have zero complaints and it's been a wonderful truck. Just broke 106k miles on it, full synthetic all it's life via amsoil in all components, and has been hands down the best truck I've ever owned. I did have the ticking issue resolved around 85k (tappets and rocker arms) replaced, and all service is up to date. Despite chips in the paint, along with the dings, the powertrain is rock solid throughout. Couldn't be happier and eager to hit 200k miles

@@vancejensen6036 Thanks for the reply, I’m looking into getting a brand new single cab. I read that the 3.55 gear option would give you the power to tow around 7,700 pounds and that perfect for me since I got some jetskis and a rzr. I’m pretty good about maintenance and driving with care meaning I don’t drive like it’s the Indy 500 so I’m just hoping that ticking issue is taken care of now in 2021.

@@joeshmoe8952 I also have the tow pack with the 3.55 gears and it's plenty for what I use it for. I couldn't be happier with the purchase and after that ticking issue got resolved, it's been a fantastic truck with ZERO issues other than general upkeep. At 115k now and still running strong as it can be. A lot of a vehicles reliability falls back on how well it was maintained, so buying new gives that advantage. Aside from manufacturer defects that are backed with recall work, you should be in solid shape. 👍

I inherited one from my dad last year. Had just 24,000 miles. Was kinda bummed about the V6 and the limited tow options but after using it over a year now I’m thrilled with how it’s been with a few minor issues. Cruise control keeps going in and out. Gas filler keeps getting regular gas pumps stuck, going to the dealer next week for that. Good gas mileage considering it’s a truck. Still haven’t hit 30k on it yet but it’s close.

Have had two of these V6 Ram 1500 trucks and have no complaints. Have towed lots with my 2019 Classic Warlock with the 3.6L long distance (700+ km trips) and it does well. Only the thing is the squat on the coils but that will happen with any Ram 1500. I have towed between 4000-7000lbs in a utility trailer up to large enclosed trailer with lots of wind break. For the $7500 I saved getting the V6 at the time with incentives it was worth it. Thanks for documenting your long term review of this truck.

Had mine since 2019. For my use the pentastar works perfectly. Have an enclosed trailer that I haul motorbikes, garden tractors etc - that’s the hardest I get it to work. Other than that it’s a cottage runner, commuter, all around do everything. The Hemi for me would be overkill and wouldn’t wanna pay premium for what the v6 can do. Only issue I have is sometimes I’ll start it and it’ll quit right away- I wait 5 seconds and it will start again. Brought it in and they can’t figure it out but it’s a rare occurrence. Only have 63k on it. Hope to have it many years

I have the 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan, with the same engine at 122,875 Miles on it and my average fuel usage is about 19.1 up to 20.7 miles per gallon. My van has held up since then, the only problem that I corrected was the Power lock jam on one of the actuators on the driver side sliding door had to be replaced and then the Thermostat was also replaced, also every 60,000 miles I have the Transmission Fluid changed and every 5,700 miles I have the oil changed with full synthetic oil 5W30. I did replace my factory Stereo with a JVC KW-Z1000W and a 10-inch Kicker hideaway bass woofer. My Children like the van, I was going to get another Ford Vehicle, but Ford wanted too much for the Explorer, so I went with Dodge which was 6,700 cheaper than the Ford. I'm Glad I got the Dodge instead because the Fords had too many recalls on the Explorer I was looking at. Before the Dodge Grand Caravan, I had the 2017 Ford Fusion Titanium 2.0 L Turbo, which was a great car, I love that car a lot, but it had too many miles on it about 312,500 as we Go from Roseburg, Oregon to California a lot to the Bay Area and back home to Roseburg. All seven of us Fit well in the Minivan and it is clean as we do not eat in it, we stop and eat at places along the way. Me and my wife and five small children and babies. I never considered Dodge, but now I am, because I was a long time Ford Man, and my wife car is a 2023 Toyota Camery XLE. I hope that Dodge says around though, because ford is having issues with their Vehicles and higher prices.

Love the review! I have a 2017 Ram 1500 with the Gas V6. So far love the truck! BUT! You mention the radio/electronics... I'm giving that a less than good review... no maps, no android auto, no upgrades beyond the 2017 model. Mine, when I have a phone plugged into the USB port occasionally changes settings from Bluetooth to USB and from BT Audio to radio or worse satellite (who has that anymore!?) so I'm forced to use the USB power only port to avoid this - could be the cable, but I've tried multiple and it still occurs randomly (maybe it's the phone - but...). Plus when playing audio through BT it's delayed about half a second (when watching a video - parked of course ;) ) so, not so good. My Avalon doesn't have this issue. Still, love the truck. Thanks for the video!

I love my 2014 RAM 2WD QuadCab V6. It's about to hit 280K miles. I'm the 2nd owner and have only replaced tires, 1 battery, an ABS pump and ABS wheel sensor as well as fluids, front brake pads and filters. I stick to 5-6K mile oil intervals and did the last transmission fluid change 10K miles ago. If I could only change a thing about the truck it would've been going with 4WD or at least antispin. The later is still achievable, though. It may be something to add in the near future

Not that I'm some big macho guy, I'm not, I'm just a practical school teacher. I got the v8 version of this truck as a leftover Ram Classic and it's identical save for the motor and some of the updated electronics. I like that they put a few different colors of plastic in it and don't mind at all that it's a bit tupperware-like inside. It makes it durable and if my kids trash it a bit... oh well. I'll wipe it off. One of the great aspects of Ram is that they put out a mid-speck 50k truck but throw in a few really desirable amenities. Mine has carplay, a heated wheel, heated seats and a sliding window. Nothing earth shattering but all options that I find very desirable. The only thing I'd change is I wish I got 2-3 more mpg. I'm not unrealistic but a stop-start feature and maybe an eco-mode would have been enough to get me there. Otherwise it's my favorite vehicle I've ever had, and I've had some pretty fantastic cars. Best wishes that it sees 200k.

Also, just responding to your comment about how you kind of wished you got the Hemi... I have a 2017 Ram 1500 Bighorn 4x4 with the 8spd and the Hemi. Looks very similar to yours, package wise with the full center console, nice screen with the digital speedometer and driver info, fog lights, chrome appearance packages, halogen lights, 8in U connect screen, etc, mine just has the max tow package so it has the 3.92 gears, tow mirrors, and trailer brake controller. I get 14-17mpg average so really not that different from what you are getting. I think the Hemi is def worth it, more power, more capable. One thing to keep in mind though is the owners manual actually recommends 89 octane fuel in the Hemi, which I abide by. So that adds some cost. I generally do 93 fuel at Sams club since its actually cheaper than 89 anywhere else, or ill do a full tank of 93 and then when its half empty top it back off with 87 so it levels out to 89.

@@SpokenReviews I don't think you'll have any issues getting 200k miles out of. The penastar is pretty reliable more reliable then the hemi actually. That's something you might want to take into consideration when you upgrade. The hemi has ticking issues that are due to stripped bolts on the exhaust manifold around 80-100k miles. Also I believe cam shafts are problematic on the hemi as well.

Manufacturer says 100k miles and it's more expensive because manufacturers are using composite trans pans now that you have to replace each time. I'd say it depends on use. If you're hard on it do it more often, if it's a commuter that hauls light loads occasionally I'd go with manufacturers recommended intervals.

Synthetic oil change now is $90!!!!! I can do it myself with full syn Amazon basics for $35(filter included). That being said $100 is a great deal even before the new administration destroyed everything

The Walmart super tech full synthetic is supposedly the exact same oil as the Amazon Basics. It's about $5 less per 5qts.
