2015 Silverado with Kooks Headers and Bullet Performance Valved Exhaust

This is a video of my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado with Kooks headers and a Bullet Performance Valved Exhaust System. This consists of an inline valve just before the muffler that is always open to flow the exhaust through the muffler and resonator. Once you actuate the vacuum pump, the valve will close and route the exhaust around the muffler and into a small chamber to quiet the exhaust down a lot.
It is not recommended to drive with the valve closed or keep it closed for very long as it is very restrictive. It is meant to keep the truck quiet just at times when needed such as next to the police or cold starts to keep the neighbors happy.
This system has the large resonator which is recommended for use with long tube headers. The standard catback either has a small resonator or no resonator at all. You can view more on their website at:

I have been contemplating on getting electric cutouts since I put the headers on. I swapped over to the 24” magnaflow to help quiet it down but man I miss my Carven.

I don't recommend electric cutouts. I have been through a few sets over the years and they just don't hold up. Try to find vacuum actuated cutouts. They seem to hold up much better.

Matt Earle how much of a sound difference is it from closed to open? Only time I would have it closed is on start ups in the morning for work since I leave at 4 AM

I do like this one. Sounds good all around. Throaty and a little rasp up top. Seems like the camera doesn’t quite capture all the sounds you get with running long tubes.

It is a smartphone in these videos and a GoPro in the others. That's the best I could do and didn't want to invest in proper equipment or change after I already shot some.

My Chevy dealership tried to tell me my Volant CAI voids the warranty. And that it was causing the engine light. Turns out it was one of my cats going out. Looks like it’s time to get some long tube headers😂

I would recommend a tune with the Volant. The dealership has to prove the aftermarket parts caused the problem to deny a warranty. Definitely need to tune with headers.

I have a question about your wheels and tires. Those look like a set of snowflake reproductions. Do you remember what the size and offset was on them? Also, what was your tire size? I just bought the identical truck in white, and was wanting to do the same set up you have for the wheels. The fit of your wheels and tires look great. Thanks for any info.

Sounds good open. Has a hint of a 2 stroke dirt bike sound with it closed.

It's not meant to be used closed for very long. You don't want to drive it closed. It's very restrictive.

I have a Venom 250 on my 2015 5.3 and I’m getting ready to install TSP longtubes with catted y pipe. I may eventually put the Borla atak you were running but I thought the BW sounded pretty good too. I’d like to wait till my powertrain warranty is up next year to install the long tubes but I don’t know if I can look at them in the garage much longer. What’s your thoughts on losing warranty once you installed long tubes and tuned it?

Bullet performance makes the valves muffler setup. Kooks makes the headers. Bulletperf.com they are in Dubai but have some dealers in the US

Valve open is the only way you should run it. It's not designed to run with the valve closed for very long. It sounds great with the valve open. I really like it. I do believe this might be number 19 or 20. I've quit counting. Lol

Have you tried the spintech 9000 yet? I went from the carven r to the borla atak crate muffler. The carven was unbearably loud with kooks longtubes and catted y pipe. I have an 06 Silverado with a cammed 5.3. The borla sounds better than the carven but I have a spintech on the way to replace it

Don't like the ATAK? I don't plan to try the spintech. Don't like the sound plus I'm probably done trying mufflers out.

Hey man I was wondering if you can help me out ? What’s the loudest exhaust you have had ? And also which is loudest Carven R or super 10 ? Which ones is the deepest/agressive ?

Loudest would be ATAK or Corsa. I would say the Carven R would be louder than the Super 10 but the Super 10 would be deeper. I felt the ATAK was deepest.
