At least the American commentators tell it like it is. Whether bad or good, they talk about it all, no matter what country the gymnast is from. They usually have background info and make it a lot more interesting. They also know their terms.

(Mrs. S. here) What is most gratifying, and especially appreciated, is that the Japanese girls were first in line to congratulate our girls! It was very obvious to see that they were genuinely pleased for them. Japan's athletes have always shown their support, their friendliness, and their appreciation for ours. On a couple of occasions in the past, where they participated in the competitions, and the camera panned in their direction, they visibly showed their support, their smiles, and their cheers for our girls' performances. I hope that our fans can show the same joy and support for them as well.

Exactly! I loved watching our girls give a dominant performance in team finals in Rio, of course knowing Simone would likely take AA gold but not knowing who the other medalists would be- hats off to Aliya for a second AA bronze after all her challenges. I was most thrilled though when Sanne won beam- such a glorious and historic achievement. The joy on Simone’s face during the medal ceremony as Sanne beheld her medal was sweet.

I appreciate that with this broadcast, they show all the girls from all the countries competing. They don’t highlight the star athletes only and ignore the other girls. I like to see all the girls from all the countries and not just a highlight reel of the best moments from the best athletes like NBC does. Some people may get bored watching all the athletes but I don’t. These athletes have worked hard and they deserve our attention, whether they be reigning world champions and from the reigning Olympic gold medalist team or they come in last place!

Obviously the British are well known for their stellar bar work; i was blown away by Becky Downie here. Her legs were glued together! They didnt come apart at all on elements that usually cause the gymnast to separate just slightly; i.e--the shaps, thr pak. What made that even more impressive was stalders preceded those moves that usually cause the minor leg separations. Not Becky. That routine was impressive. Hoping she is able to continue gymnastics w/all these injuries that have plagued her recently. :(

shang chunsong's floor routine (it's at 1:33:48 and it got a 14.366) could've scored in the 15's if she cleans up her final pass. she definitely lost at least -0.6 for the landing errors (low chest, steps back, out of bound). i wish they would focus on building her strength and conditioning in training - it seems she's consistently struggling during the last pass to get her double pike fully rotated and up-and-around. that's what gives USA the advantage on floor/vault and unfortunately the jokes/accusations about steroid usage - these athletes, from a young age, are trained to do very intense of strength exercises (like rope climbs)

They actually have good difficulty on floor. Their execution is just low
@jojox97915 жыл бұрын
Their execution is so low because many of their combos on floor are to hide landing deductions. It's clear when the gymnast supposedly completes a 2.5 to immediate punch front and still ends up way off to the side they never landed it all the easy around. The judges see it. I think they could up their E scores by cleaning up those landings and much heavier strength training than whatever they are doing now!

Great competition, surprised to not see the Romanians, they've always been a power house in the gymnastics world. I guess the days of the Romanians and the Russians ruling woman's !!! So happy for all of the teams. Very talented athletes!!
@lunabelletheinsane2 жыл бұрын
On the American broadcast, they showed some clips of the Romanians qualifying and they had too many errors to overcome to qualify for the final. He said it was so uncharacteristic of the Romanians that he was shocked. (I know this comment is 6 years old - but this is for anyone who doesn't know NOW)

Yes, GB totally deserved that medal, beam was excellent. Russia was kinda a disappointment, I missed Mustafina a lot. I think it's the first time I see Komova smile... and what about Netherland's beam?????? I needed to see that 😕 USA it's amazing, they weren't even surprised when they won. Maggie competed so well, I'm impressed. Aly's floor??? God, I love that woman, her comeback is great. And Simone it's Simone, nothing to compare to, espectacular.
@eracoacosta34259 жыл бұрын
Some of the scoring seems inconsistent. How are you going to give Komova a 15.100 vs Gabby's 15.233 on vault when Komova had crossed legs and a 3 tenth hop back. That's why I don't trust some of these judges scoring.... SMH!
@bluepanther10134 жыл бұрын
Gabby: 11:48 Leg separation on the entry -.1, Lack of amplitude -.3, small hop -.1, and 11:53 insufficient distance -.1. Komova: 25:40 Lack of amplitude -.3, big hop -.3, crossed ankles -.1, and insufficient distance -.1. Final Scores: Gabby: 15.2 Komova: 15.0

China had a great competition and was only 5 points away from USA, which is pretty darn good! Did they have any falls at all? I don't remember seeing any, but I don't think they showed all their routines.

@jojox97915 жыл бұрын
@@miguelpacheco5359 I agree. I also think it's a sign or spot to the gymnast. Notice EVERY competition, not just here, they put their hands up in the same spot at the same point in the gymnasts routines. Sure, release moves...but come on! That hand placement is showing the gymnast where EXACTLY release. I swear they time train that way. (Seriously watch other comps...same exact pattern)
@MeriPT5 жыл бұрын
It was almost like he was coaching them! At times I thought I heard him talking and I thought coaching during competitions wasn’t allowed. I’m frankly surprised that either the gymnasts didn’t have points taken off or he wasn’t made to leave the floor. Maybe I’m wrong about it being allowed though?
@lizrice52309 жыл бұрын
This woman is the absolute worse commentator I have ever heard. I would think for something as important as a world championships British Gymnastics would find someone who didn't botch 80% of the gymnasts names. It is just plain lazy and disrespectful that they never bothered to learn their names or anything about them.
@tackssherbo71049 жыл бұрын
+Liz Rice I find your comment pretty funny, because I've been ranting about that for quite some time. Only my rant was leveled at Christine Stills, who absolutely butchers so many names that it is painful to hear.
@baidushuren5559 жыл бұрын
+Liz Rice So from my understanding this is just the version that was showing live. The tidy version will be shown by NBC this weekend (in the US). Personally I'm grateful to have all this uncut footage with less than perfect commentary than the more professionally one that will be shown later that will only show a fraction of what happened at this event (and with tons of commercials too).

Komova has been a train wreck since 2012. I don’t understand why people are so passionate about her. She had a good run in her early years but her time has long passed, and it’s not coming back...

I hate to say it but I think we are seeing aly start to struggle, her beam scores have been low, vault has been consistent. And it was hard to get over a 15 on floor, when a couple of weeks ago she was getting mid 15's. I hope this was just a crummy worlds for her, team USA could really benefit from her in rio if she cleans up.
@heatherwicker99909 жыл бұрын
+Kayla McKee She does need to clean up her form on a lot of things. But, she was like this right before London too and look at what she managed there! I do agree though that she struggled and had issues. I know she wants to do the AA to make up for London but her bars will never make it. Too sloppy.
