Hi all, I have been driving ford ranger for three years which is the Ute version of the Everest and it is a great car, two days ago a got a new everest titanium for 76k and it is a great SUV, fair enough the disco might be more expensive with a bigger reputation but my personal preference I would go for the Everest.

+evo emperor its the top spec Everest here (Australia) that is close in price to the base spec Discovery. The base spec Everest is only about 60% of the Discovery. I believe that Australia our spec level for the Everest is a bit different (we only get the 3.2 engine, 4x4 only etc.)

InThailand the price of the Disco4 is about three times more than the new Everest. The cost of the Disco 4 is about 171,xxx USD and the New Everest is 50,000 USD. Take me by surprise ,in Australia the price of The Disco 4 is a little lower than the new Everest.

Ok first up in Australia where this is filmed, go check your pricing and see what you get out of the $85k disco 4. Cloth interior, no sat nav, no parking sensors, no reverse camera, no lane assist etc.. Oh also no custom orders either as they stopped making them and the disco 5 comes out November next year.. The model they tested looks like the hse version which is 105k off memory, so is it 20k more car than the Everest?

Not correct. I've got a base model Discovery 4 which has leather seats and parking sensors (but no sat-nav or cameras) and it cost me $75K new. It is easily a match for the Ford. Having spent many hours driving all three vehicles in this comparison (I am on my third Discovery and have had about 7 Prados as work vehicles, plus a couple of hired Everests so far) - I can honestly say that the Discovery is the best of these three without question.

u can get around a dozen of safari stormes for the price of a LR4, and suspiciously the safari has the same landrover sitting position, weight, heavy steering, the floaty bouncy ride, even the same three knobs on the dash...It just felt like a heavily stripped down landrover, with cheaper quality interiors...but then a bargain for the price...

I'm quite surprised with the amount of Everests I have seen on the road, but what is strange is, the Toyota Fortuner which I thought would be more of a competitor (design wise) rather than price wise, I am yet to see one.

Like most Japanese designs nowadays, the new Fortuner looks rubbish. They have fallen behind their Korean rivals. In terms of designs, the Koreans (especially Kia) make better looking cars. Impressive set of reviews guys, well done and thanks. Both this and the comparison with the Prado were great and very informative. Also here in Thailand the Everest is much cheaper than Australia, there is also a 2.2L diesel you can select which saves another $4-5000.

Second video I have now watched, and it is still too early to call, but you lads might just be the most unbiased reviewers out there. Great job. Btw, i looked at the Everest on my last trip back to South Africa, and was very impressed, but looking at the car from the rear, it seemed soooooo narrow. Did you observe the same? As a Landy owner (Defender SVX) I thought I would always prefer a Disco, but a mate in Dubai has a Disco 4, and it just feels like a tank..... And not in a good way. So if I had to ever shop in this category, I would really be a bit undecided.

Biggest difference between the Ford and the LR4,. Reliability. I am actually in the market for a nice,clean used LR4, but I know full well, it's going to be a lot more $$ to maintain and repairs will be a lot more often then my Ford. That being said, I STILL want the LR4....it's the only Capable luxury 4WD available in the States for a decent amount of $$. ( No, don't want to spend north of 70k for Grand Cherokee).

Ford have priced a $55k car at near $80k. The materials, quality of build, and the most important aspect of any vehicle, how it makes you feel, will be won by the Land Rover day in, day out. On road, off road, the Ford won't touch the Disco........and the DIsco is ooooold - based on LR's 2004 base.

Really a great video - finally a comparo of the the two where it counts, off road on a decent trail, would have loved to see how you compared the Disco on the same off-road test track though - that's missing especially where the air suspension comes in!. Great reviews. I looked at all three of these vehicles and ended up with a well specced base model Discovery 4 TD which ended up being lower in terms of driveway pricing that the Everest top spec model. From test drives and all the reading I did, the key reason I went with the Discovery was its off-road ability and the flexibility that they air suspension gives. Having used it off-road in many situations including pretty challenging tracks with modified only vehicles around - I think that if you had included an off-road section in the D4 comparison the victory would be very comprehensive. Great effort from Ford but I do believe that the Discovery is a better vehicle (overall road and off-road) and given there was no price advantage to the Ford the decision was easy in the end. The Prado was solid and whilst I could only test drive it inroad it felt like a boat compared to the D4 especially the steering accuracy and feel.

I have a feeling in 20years time there will be no more sedans. Suv/cuv are taking over hard. I was one of them people who hated suv/cuv. After i got a cx5 2015, its hard to go back in a sedan. Its just to fun to drive and comfortable in a cuv/suv than a sedan. If i had thr actual money if id get a bmw x6

ok look at it this way... the Everest took on the prado and knocks on the Discovery's doors.. Oh yeah! great, prado tried and tested and of course all time great Discovery no question about it. But do you honestly think that the developers in Ford thought that in one great sweep,that this unit will errase the entire competition??..No! for god sake think again.. this whole exercise was the "poke in the back", the testing of the waters...the first wave of bombardment,...This Suv just took the fight to one of the worlds well respected units in its class the prado and stolen the show and moved up a notch on the disco level and held its own.. now that ladies and gentlemen is impressive, two giants in one day hehe.. scary part is that its just starting to flex its muscle and just on its fledgling development stages....sorry to rain on your parade but this Suv is going to evolve to one hell of a unit, and if competion thinks that the keys to kingdom is safe and secure in thd suv segment..they better think twice coz the storms cumin.. and blue oval is leading the charge.

why? if your comparing cars you need to do it dollar for dollar..the landrover starts at $10000 more and the titanium is a top spec model. the landrover should be better in the cabin.

The best on road off road car made so far LR4. No car can do off road and on road as well as the LR4 especially with the V6 diesel power and towing capacity. Better hardcore off road yes a LR 76 drives like crap on the road uncomfortable, slow , heavy on fuel but when you reach the 2% of the driving that is hardcore off road its perfect the other 98% huge compromise. Better on road something like a Volvo XC 90 or BMW X 5 much more car like can't go off road. Love them or hate them LR4 best compromise car there is and before the Toyota brigade start their reliability nonsense the LR 4 is very reliable and good for 500k Km just don't neglect to do the services. My 5 cents worth 3 years too late
