My notes have BMW Verse HSV Comb Fuel 9.9L/100km - 15L/100km BMW Adaptive LED headlights, HSV Halogen Bulbs and so so so much more with aids inside and out. Internal seating measurements and leg rooms in the M5 is massive to HSV and much bigger car inside. If comparing internals the Cheaper M3 is the same size inside with even more headroom in the rear. The outside package is tight, you cant hide a small child under the BMW bonnet. Then price closer and faster again 0-100km Then even closer the BMW 340i is $15 000 cheaper than the HSV and tested 0-100km 4.6 seconds, easy outhandles HSV with still all the goodies with LED adaptive headlights that turn and auto high beam etc, electric blinds to cover windows and side blinds, Internet and full connectivity. Surrond view cameras like a drone above you, need to see. DAB+ Radio. Comb Fuel is 6.8 L/100km You can easy add the M Performance Power Kit, and still have heaps of money left over the HSV and times 4.4 seconds 0-100km and less than half the fuel. 340i insurance is less than half the hsv Servicing is $1250 for 80 000km or 5 years....Cheap Tyres compared to HSV $500 each and brakes a fraction of the cost. remote controls via phone / adjustable seat width/emergency braking second impact/pedestrian monitor and pre brake function etc/concierge 24\7----/cruise control with brakes/25000km or 2 year service intervals Cant compete with the HSV note under full load and acceleration but I know what I would rather be racing about Mount Panarama if wanting to win or enjoy the corners.

tedhead redhead My last HSV Senator cost for Genuine Parts $2000 for the front OR THE rear replacement after 20000km $4000 for both. The GTS is even more expensive than Senator or Clubsport brakes as larger compared to BMW HSV +$2740 more and likely $5000 more if the BMW wear indicators are correct as will get double the kilometers per set. The rear BMW Pirelli P Zero Runflat tyre is heaps cheaper than HSV Conti P5 fronts. what does BS stand for? Genuine Parts. 2 x front rotors $200each $400 PAIR 2 x front pads $230 (1 set) 2 x rear rotors $200each $400 PAIR 2 x rear pads. $230 (1 set) $1260 full replacement cost. Estimated upto double the kilometers

+Sean Williams If you paid those prices, your going through a dealership and getting ripped off, I have been quoted $600 per disc rotor on my vf gts, had them inspected and don't need them or pads with 50k on car from new, and thats with track days, not sure what you mean by size in cabin, you got dimensions?, also holden in 2013(when I brought my gts), had capped price servicing, $220, also further down the track, and bmw are also reliable, but parts are cheaper for any lsa or commodore part, and I saved $15000 instead purchasing a bmw, although an m2 is on my shopping list, but I have to say, I think overall, holdens are just great fun to drive, and don't get better bang for buck
@Digga_108 жыл бұрын
tedhead redhead must have dropped in price even aftermarket only just came out less than twelve months ago were $1400 per end. Glad cheap alternatives are now out. if getting 50k wow many people don't even make it between service intervals with genuine pads and rotors. re dimensions got figures on brochures and carsales. rear seats in BMW 3 series has more shoulder room and more headroom in the front. So Pretty close when all evens out. HSV not good Value at all now. My VF looked like a omega from the side. unlike my VE that was with the great HSV side vents. bang for Buck has to be the SSV that leaves all the import cars for dead. but HSV are now a rip-off.

+Sean Williams Lsa is a brilliant engine, its designed to be raced all day, forged rods etc, rods being about the only internals that fail in pushrods, but as much as its not an engineering marvel, nobody could say that getting this close in a 0-100 with any m series, is an easy feat, the only thing that lets these cars down is 20inch rims, such a shame in that regards

lol resale. holdens are worth nothing a few years later. M5 will hold longer.
@uruterus78498 жыл бұрын
+craig preiss No resale. Let's just check the facts on that. Take for example the W427. let’s have a look at the resale values of it compared to other cars from 2009 that are a similar class of vehicle (ie GT sedans). These other vehicles were selling for a similar price to the W427 at the time or fetching a similar used car price in 2015. All values are taken from Redbook. In the calculations below the minimum loss is the loss made assuming you obtain the maximum private price for the vehicle, whereas the maximum loss is the loss made assuming you trade the vehicle in for bottom dollar. 2009 Holden Special Vehicles W427 Manual MY09 Release Date: January 2009 Price When New: $155,500 Average Km: 90,000 - 150,000 Private Price Guide: $70,300 - $77,900 Trade In Price Guide: $60,800 - $68,400 Minimum Loss: $77,600 (49.90% loss) Maximum Loss: $94,700 (60.90% loss) 2009 Audi RS6 Auto quattro MY09 Sedan (5 Litre twin turbo V10) Release Date: January 2009 Price When New: $263,500 Average Km: 60,000 - 110,000 Private Price Guide: $71,400 - $78,900 Trade In Price Guide: $63,300 - $70,800 Minimum Loss: $184,600 (70.06% loss) Maximum Loss: $200,200 (75.98% loss) 2009 Audi A8 Auto quattro (3.2 Litre, 6 cylinder) Release Date: January 2009 Price When New: $165,900 Average Km: 60,000 - 110,000 Private Price Guide: $33,200 - $37,200 Trade In Price Guide: $26,700 - $30,700 Minimum Loss: $128,700 (77.58% loss) Maximum Loss: $139,200 (83.91% loss) 2009 BMW 550i E60 Auto MY08 (4.8 Litre V8) Release Date: January 2009 Price When New: $170,210 Average Km: 60,000 - 110,000 Private Price Guide: $39,700 - $44,300 Trade In Price Guide: $33,500 - $38,100 Minimum Loss: $125,910 (73.97% loss) Maximum Loss: $136,710 (80.32% loss) 2009 BMW M3 E90 Manual Sedan (4 Litre V8) Release Date: January 2009 Price When New: $145,000 Average Km: 60,000 - 110,000 Private Price Guide: $46,300 - $51,500 Trade In Price Guide: $38,400 - $43,600 Minimum Loss: $93,500 (64.48% loss) Maximum Loss: $106,600 (73.51% loss) 2009 Jaguar XF Portfolio Auto MY10 (5 Litre V8) Release Date: June 2009 Price When New: $155,990 Average Km: 60,000 - 110,000 Private Price Guide: $41,600 - $46,400 Trade In Price Guide: $34,000 - $38,800 Minimum Loss: $109,590 (70.25% loss) Maximum Loss: $121,990 (78.20% loss) 2009 Lexus GS460 Sports Luxury Auto MY08 (4.6 Litre V8) Release Date: January 2009 Price When New: $143,000 Average Km: 60,000 - 110,000 Private Price Guide: $27,500 - $31,000 Trade In Price Guide: $21,800 - $25,300 Minimum Loss: $112,000 (78.32% loss) Maximum Loss: $121,200 (84.76% loss) 2009 Mercedes-Benz E500 Elegance Auto MY08 (5.5 Litre V8) Release Date: January 2009 Price When New: $167,668 Average Km: 60,000 - 110,000 Private Price Guide: $40,200 - $44,600 Trade In Price Guide: $32,800 - $37,200 Minimum Loss: $123,068 (73.40% loss) Maximum Loss: $134,868 (80.44% loss) 2009 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Auto (6.2 Litre V8) Release Date: January 2009 Price When New: $148,900 Average Km: 90,000 - 150,000 Private Price Guide: $56,400 - $62,700 Trade In Price Guide: $47,800 - $54,100 Minimum Loss: $86,200 (57.89% loss) Maximum Loss: $101,800 (67.90% loss) So out of that fairly awesome array of cars, the HSV has the lowest depreciation values (in absolute dollars and relative dollars (%)), with the AMG C63 second and the BMW M3 third. When it comes to running costs, I’m willing to bet the HSV is also the cheapest to service and has the cheapest parts as well. Yes the HSV uses the most petrol but the amount you save by having less depreciation more than makes up for the extra cost of fuel. Other interesting points are the assumed average kilometres for the vehicles. The HSV and the AMG C63 have a higher average kilometres listed than all the other vehicles. This means that if you could get an example of the HSV or the AMG with lower mileage than the listed average for those 2 cars you may expect their second prices to be higher than listed and therefore their depreciation may be even lower. Look at the Audi RS6. Its second hand price in 2015 is very close to the second hand price of the HSV W427 but to match the second hand price of the HSV you had to pay $263,500 for the Audi

As usual you so called 'Car Reviewers' have yet again gotten the price of the M5 wrong. This is consistent with just about every other European car you review, be honest and give the actual price of the car with tax! Also just because you couldn't get the M5 to do the claimed 0-100 time, doesn't mean it can't, you probably don't know how to drive it. I reckon the M4 could have beaten both too, considering its been timed below 4 seconds and its also much lighter. These cars have not and never will compete with each other.

+macdonaldjohnstonfan the 2016 M5 Pure is $185,000 AUD. Research it next time.
@macdonaldjohnstonfan8 жыл бұрын
+daniel collins Buddy, I already did my research, I can't believe you think I wouldn't have researched it. With tax added the M5 pure costs just over $200,000 which is the proper price. So when you look it up I believe you will find that I am right, why don't you actually research it yourself before replying and thinking you are being smart by correcting me.

spend the extra cash on the Commy with the difference in cost between the Commy and the Bimmer... and the the Commy would whip the Bimmer's ass all day long... and be cheaper to service in its lifetime...and have better re-sale value...

Well, well, so much for them two, my favourite V8 car is the sadly missed TVR Griffith 500, though the A.C. Cobra 427 is a close call. Yes they are 2 seat sports cars but who wants 5 seats & space for shopping & golf clubs when you are buying muscle with your cash. The Griff will do 0-100kph in 4.1 with no driver aids, therefore before HSV & M5 owners have finished twiddling buttons the Griff has gone and done it. As for buying muscle, who in their right mind would pay double the price of the HSV for a M5. If someone says style then look again, the HSV looks like a hooners project car but the M5 is pure Dame Edna Everage, i.e. sad old transvestite.

How'd u go with rust on tvr?, the model u speak of was notorious for it, and its lack of comforts, and how did u go for parts?, not sure what your point is by your comment given relevance to vid

HSV is over $100k compare with the BMW 340i that is $90k and the same 0-100km and internal size the same. 340i 0-100km 4.6 seconds. 6.8L/100km Combined. Cheaper to service and spare parts a fraction of the cost of the HSV. WIth bucket loads more tech inside and out.
@uruterus78498 жыл бұрын
340i doesn't touch the gts, get in the real world, or go to a track day, better yet supersprints.com.au then check what they think of the gts overseas against m series, i mean really??, get off it mate, if u want massive computer interference cos u can't drive, go for it!
The AAAA, which represents 1300 independent repairs, claims the lack of a mandatory information portal is forcing car owners to go to official dealers for repairs rather than shopping around, stifling competition. "If you want to choose who repairs your car - the dealer or a local repairer - you should buy a Holden, because every other brand finds a way to force you to go back to the dealer and this costs on average 25 per cent more than an independent repairer," said its executive director Stuart Charity.
@Digga_108 жыл бұрын
Funny as with my Holden's I had to stop using local repairer. Even back when I had a VT Commodore with the first 5.7L the front brakes had hairline fracture in the rotors. The mechanic replaced these and couldn't get any warranty on them, when I took into Holden they said Holden could tell if the rotors were from my car and the car needed to be brought to them with them on for repairs and replacement of any parts. From then on had to go to Holden. With BMW I have free servicing for 80 000km and 5 years, so the cheapest car to service that I have ever owned. Also 30 000km between oil changes and the engine does so little damage to the oil. Pretty impressive. This locking to the brand all manufactures are doing the local mechanics are saying, they can buy tech computers that are expensive but don't give all the functions. If buying a old car maybe this is correct, but this HSV is new :-) and expensive for parts I know.
@uruterus78498 жыл бұрын
+Sean Williams But a bmw 300, won't keep up with a gts on a circuit, its still almost in league with m series, yet nowhere near the cost, and at $220 per service at 15000klm, thats much more competitive, and more importantly, reliability.

+Tim Miles (Airplanejunkie) Ok. Iv'e had enough of you bagging on the Gen-F Commodore. It is the best car to roll of the line in Australia. Beats Mazda, ford, Hyundai and some BMW's in the quality. Cheap, reliable cars with great quality is what Ford and Holden are all about. Look its all personal preference. But quality inst a personal preference thing. Its a real thing that you have just put your "fanboy" goggles over and decided that its shit. Of course its not THE BEST! But I would actually have to say its the best in the world for the price. Close cars for the price would be something like the CTS-V or the Mustang. Or even the Mazda 6 which is still a very nice curvy car.
@TheSslover8 жыл бұрын
It's idiots like yourself which are responsible for any bad name Holden/ HSV have and why the company has lost sales. This is an amazing car, the Commodore is an amazing car. This HSV rivals and betters many cars like this from BMW, Audi or Mercedes, and for half the price of those, you can't go wrong. You want 100% premium built quality, pay that $200,000+ price tag for those other cars!

+Lochlan McDermott People don't give these cars justice. Fair enough to bag on the old Holdens. But they don't remember. For the time even the VT Commodore had a great interior for the price. And so on with the old Falcons and Commodores. But yes of course its not as good in today times. Anyway they seem to have gained some stigma to the name which is really sad. They are one of the least deserving companies to have a stigma around them.
@uruterus78498 жыл бұрын
Thats your choice, and u say that its a meat head car shows that your a HATER So go buy your entry level 90k "prestige", have fun with resale and servicing fees because given your comments your not very smart leading me to believe you probably can't afford it There was an article about why euros mark up price in australia by SMH, as one of the dealers said "australians think they are prestige", in other words, they are just an ordinary car

"Aussie crap" not only are you clearly stupid but undereducated as well and no I am not Australian. I just finished watching a comparison video of the VF GTSR W1($170k) and M6 Gran coupe($300k) neither were capable of matching their alleged 0-100 times and the race driver clearly noted the Aussie car was better in utilizing the power, brakes and suspension. Question - do we listen to a simpleton like you or do we listen to the expert? You clearly made the dumbest comment under this Y/Tube video, congratulations for being notable at something. Hahahaha
