Thank you for taking your time showing each step. It is very helpful for those of us who have never done this before. I was able to change my spark plugs on my own because of this video. Thank you!!

Your suppose to take some compressed air and blow it within the sparkplug compartment prior to removing the sparkplug, it helps remove any type of small dust particles that might be within the compartment and it prevents it from falling into the engine interior compartment.

How did it go? I just did mine because of a misfire. Replaced the coil first and that got rid of the code. Decided to do sparkplugs too and the one that had the code was a bit loose so that was probably the problem

Your video came up. It sure bring confidence on doing the job. My car is about 84,000 bought it with 45,000. Don't know if it has ever been changed but ordered both ngk plugs and coils. Thinking of doing it rather than wait on the computer codes.

Thanks for the video, I need to do my Accent, but I always coat the inside of the coil with electrical grease to waterproof it, as well as all electrical contacts. In my experience of Korean, Japanese cars, I always use NGK. They seem to work better.

Greetings from the Low Country, SC. Thanks for the video. I have a 2014 Elantra Limited with 81k miles and I just replaced the plugs today. I bought the plugs and coil boots from Rock Auto as well. I am having problems removing the boots off of the coil. Tried twisting and pulling but the boot stays put. Any suggestions on how to remove the stubborn boots without damaging the thin rubber wrap?
@CrawdaddyCustoms Жыл бұрын
I’ve not dealt with this issue, but you might try spraying some WD-40 or silicone spray into the boots and see if that will loosen them. Good luck!

Thanks for the video brother it was really helpful let me ask you this question my brother took his is the 15 He took is AutoZone in the scanner read coils spark plugs an wires or bad what do you think the chance would be there all bad at the same time I just told you change the coils out first
@CrawdaddyCustoms3 жыл бұрын
Well, I’d start with the cheapest thing first- the spark plugs. My kid’s car didn’t have spark plug wires- the coils went directly onto the plug. They are called COP- coil on plug. If the plugs don’t fix the way it’s running, then move on to the coils. I’m just guessing here, but I’d think the coils would last somewhere around 150K miles before they gave you trouble.
@yolandagomez92554 жыл бұрын
can you do a video on changing the wires that's attached to the coils? I would really like to see that. I have a 2012 elantra but my car is not much different from yours. thanks

NGK plugs come with an anti-seize metal on the threads.
@CrawdaddyCustoms4 жыл бұрын
I was unaware of this, so I looked up NGK’s own info. Yup, first statement was about how their plugs are manufactured with a special coating. Thanks for the heads up!

Aren't we supposed to disconnect the negative battery?
@CrawdaddyCustoms Жыл бұрын
I suppose your factory service manual tells you to, but since the key is OFF, there is no voltage going to the coils. Safest bet is to remove Negative cable… but remember- you’ll have to reset your radio stations, click time, etc.

The plug that attaches to the coil won't hold tight and nothing broke off. I push that little plastic clip down and it does nothing
@CrawdaddyCustoms3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, she sold the car, so I can’t look at it. I’d suggest looking at both the coil and the connector- one of them has to have something broken on it. If you have room, you could always use a small zip tie to hold the connector to the coil.

I have a 2017 Elantra and it’s reading cylinder 2 misfire would this be the fix ?
@CrawdaddyCustoms4 жыл бұрын
Jace Houston Without actually seeing it, all I can say is maybe. Spark plugs are a good place to start- pull it out and look at it. If it’s gummed up, oily, wet, etc. it’s either the plug is bad or the coil is not firing.
@mikeh33344 жыл бұрын
@@CrawdaddyCustoms totally agree. i did a full spark plug change on my 2013 elantra about 6 months ago and the cyl. misfire code crept up on cyl. 4. it has almost 90k miles on it so im about sure the coil is gone. ordered 4 new coils from amazon and im just going to replace all 4 as the plugs are fairly new. I also had to replace the cam shaft position sensor as well. things go out eventually. good video.

Shouldn't dielectric grease be applied to the coil when reinstalling? (provides a moisture barrier)

She sold the car, so I have no clue on it. I imagine I would’ve put some on if I had found any on the coil when removed.

Hi do youu go with engine washing ? Can we do it at home ?
@CrawdaddyCustoms4 жыл бұрын
I would wipe off the engine with a dust cloth, then spray some detailing spray on a rag and wipe it down. It’ll make the engine look nice, but not get liquid all over the place.

Hey just a tip. My son mentioned to me years ago that anti-seize is really cancerous to your body organs when absorbed through your skin. I know.....I know......we get all kinds of shit on our skin. Hell, I even clean my hands off with ether, but for some reason, since he told me that, I try to avoid getting anti-seize on my skin, or I wipe it off good right away. Sometimes I clean it off with the ether. Haha

Thank you- I appreciate the info. Lord knows I’ve been careless with my health over the years. Gotta do better- like wearing gloves to start! Lol
@anotherbrickonthewall3 жыл бұрын
You and me both. I'm glad he's doing things right. He always wears gloves to change oil. I keep a box of gloves in the garage. Sometimes I use them, sometimes I don't. I'm learning slowly to take better car. I know that cancer ain't no joke no matter how hard core we think we are now. We'll probably be regretting our past mistakes one day for the shit we might be going thru because we didn't want to take a simple precaution. But who knows....maybe we'll cheat it too. Haha. Take care.....think about it though. Peace

My 2013 sometimes will not start while it's cranking, but then it will start once I try it again right after the 1st try. Is this my ignition coil, spark plugs, or it is the fuel pump or filter?
@CrawdaddyCustoms3 жыл бұрын
Hard to say, but I'd guess fuel. Has the filter ever been changed? Are you getting the correct fuel pressure when you key on? If your pump is having issues, it won't start. I'd check your fuel pressure first.
@Mr99RICH993 жыл бұрын
Yea try it on a GDI engine ....plug #4
@toddzino582 жыл бұрын
Just a fuel line. Pop it off, replace the plug and coil, put it back together. Just put a rag under it as it will have a little residual fuel pressure.
