Someone asked me if it was a 600 every day when I had my ninja 300. One of the best beginner/commuter sportbikes ever made I absolutely loved mine

I’ve been looking to get a bike as a way of commuting to work a couple times a week. Is this a good bike for that? And how much do they cost? I keep seeing super low prices for bikes like this.

@@michaelgilpin2334 great bike for that purpose. Gets like 60 mpg. It can easily do highway speeds though it is at higher rpm around 9k at 80mph but the engine seems ok with that. Surface streets up to 60mph it does really well with seems somewhat designed for that range. Price depends on year mileage and condition but somewhere between 2500 and 3500 ish. Expect to pay a bit more for ABS which I would recommend just makes it less dicey to use the brakes harder, and in the rain.

Ninja 300 is a lot of fun. I recommend getting one. Obviously it isn't balls out sports bike. I kept my 300 while selling other bikes, that speaks volumes about the 300. Every time I had a garage cull the 300 stayed. I still have it. Reluctant to sell it.

I just bought one yesterday with 0 miles on it. The anniversary edition with abs. I'm absolutely in love with it. It's perfect. So well balanced. Powerful but not too powerful. Nimble. Light. Good breaks. Good looks. So easy to ride. I honestly think it's perfect. Let's be honest, you don't need any more power than this. I could've bought a 600 or a super bike but I'd rather have the 300 because it's light and you can have a blast on it without going silly speeds. Can't wait to hop back on once I get rid of my hangover tomorrow ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Back when I raced bikes, they were mostly 650-750cc rockets. But they were for the track. Now that I'm riding on the street, I've got a 2016 ninja 300ABS and I am LOVING it! As this video says, super-bikes are wasted on the street. Bikes this size are definitely way more fun. You can actually use all the power, and all the gears. They handle much better than bigger bikes, and you don't have to constantly struggle with them in slower traffic.

I have clocked 350 miles on my 2017 ninja 300 ABS, in one week. New rider, first bike. I absolutely love it so far, can relate to everything you say in the review. I am having fun, yet it is powerful enough for me. Cruising at 65-70 in 6th gear at 8k, like it's nothing. All I need for my first bike and I'm excited to put more miles on it.

Greg Sabella I did 11k miles within 10 months of owning this bike and the summer time just started :) Also first bike, first time rider. This bike is really incredibly fun and very agile in curves. Only for the German highway it is too slow many times but well... That's fine, I rarely use the highway anyway. In country roads on the other hand... This bike gets so easily and smooth into footrests scratching the ground, it's super light weight and has a nice fuel range... With akrapovic slip-on (no dB muffler) it sounds so sexy and pops a lot.

The Only Raichuu Good deal! Yes it's been 6 weeks with mine, 2100 miles. I am loving the bike, and getting better at all aspect of riding with it, in the long run I'll look back and be glad I got the 300. I see where the power is lacking, depending on how you ride it. Taking 2nd and 3rd to redline can get you moving very quickly. I've had no issues on local highways at speeds up to 90 mph, with the bike still feeling stable IMO. I'd love to keep it stock this season, but the exhaust note is my main complaint, I cant stand it at rpms under...let's say 8k where it wakes up. I like the Leo Vince sound so that may be an option. Good to hear from ya man, be safe.

Greg Sabella I bought mine used back then, 6.000km on it, so barely anything. 2014 model that was first time on the road 2016. Luckily the previous owner already put in the akrapovic slip on, I didn't pay extra for it. Keep in mind they can be really expensive... Ranging from 400-600$ just for a different sound (You won't feel a power change). Personally I wouldn't buy it myself since I'd get a bigger bike in 1-2 years with new license (in EU, class A)..

Just like shifting up the gears should be shifting down through them as well and not being at a stop sign in 5th or 6th gear or putting down the road at 2000rpm doing 25km/hr in 6th. What would happen if you had to move fast to avoid an accident but you were in 6th gear doing maybe 5mph or even still at an intersection. Try to keep the bike where it has adequate power.

i have the 2017 winter edition that i bought for my wife and even i love to ride it, i have a 650 bike and a 1300cc bike and can say its good for experienced riders cus they can use it to its full potential and still have fun. ive taken it up to 107mph, 101 on an incline, 113 on a decline, these bikes really come to life after 8500rpm.. battlaxe tires. the only thing that i have to be mindful of is the amount of pull it has compared to my other bikes when it comes to passing cars and crossing traffic when at low speeds

With the Ninja 300 it's not about top speed it's the fun the handling gives you. Tight technical back roads suit it. I fitted a gear indicator above the instrument cluster. Important to know the gear you are in as ratios are quite close. 6 gears for a 100mph bike. I lowered the pegs and raised the bars an inch, feels more comfortable (even though I'm only 5'8"). This bike is tiny.

I just got my 2017 kawasaki ninja 300 and its amazing! I've gotten mine to 106 and it could've easily done a little more but it was a windy day. I would recommend this bike to anyone wanting to get into riding! Very safe and well controlled bike.

I've never ridden a bike on the street...just dirt bikes and quads off-road. From what I hear it's quite different. However I would still like to get a street bike...I'm more into cruisers than sport bikes though.

Dillon Damian When virus scare is over, sign up for motorcycle safety course at local community college... most states that means a two and a half day class (most of it outside in their motorcycles) that results in you taking NO tests at the DMV and you get your license....

skiggy007 if you’ve started off road it will actually help you ( well in my opinion) learning how to ride on loose path makes it so much easier to transition as you already know how to control a bike pretty decently the only major major difference is that you have to be a lot more aware of your surroundings once you transition.

skiggy007 I also started on a dirt bike, it’s totally different, using the clutch and throttle are the only things that transfer over so don’t come into your first corner too fast or you’ll crash in the first turn you make.

I have had mine for 3 years. I use it as my around town transportation. Still works great for that. Short trips on the highway were ok. I haven't really desired anything more since I don't usually need to go above 70 tops. Plus it was cheap and I don't have to pay on it any longer. Probably ride it till the wheels fall off.

Had that same impression of this bike after a few weeks of owning it - 'Ninja 300 is the Mazda Miata of motorcycles.' Revving to redline, banging thru gears, see the cops and laugh because you are still under the speed limit. Still, it will beat most vehicles off the line and yes, 100 mph is not hard to hit. Not much pull left after that, and you better be in a full tuck if you wanna see higher. Still; It's easily enough bike to do freeways.

I owned a 1996 Miata for 6 years. Gutted it, put in a rollcage, had it down to a hair over 2,000 lbs (came 2,295 lbs from the factory) and that car was a blast with header-back exhaust upgrades and coilover suspension. I sold it and bought a CBR 300R. I feel the single-cylinder Honda has more in common with the pure, simple, minimalism of the Miata, but both bikes are great.

The CBR 300R, and the 250 before it, appealed to me for that reason; brutal minimalism. Never rode one though. Used ninja's being much cheaper where I live. I'll take your word that it's closer. Cool bike.

That's a great comparison indeed. I tried the bike last summer at my local dealer, and it was really fun, even though my primary bike at the time had 142 bhp and a 1050cc engine (Ninja 1000). I actually found the 300 more fun.

I've had a CBR250R and a Miata. Driving (riding) a slow car (bike) fast is definitely fun. The 250 was super fun, but it was definitely challenged on the highway. Top speed was about 88 mph on a good day. I've also had a CBR600rr and it is a whole different animal. The ninja 400 should be a great beginner bike.

I lovvve my Ninja 300, I learned to ride on it & sure it's a great 'starter bike', but I could keep it forever! Crazy good gas mileage, plenty fast enough for anywhere, has ABS. Also at 360 lbs., it is easy to handle and corners awesomely. I might get something bigger someday, but I'm keeping it too.

I just dont have any way to get it him and with no experience and no motorcycle lived nad too poor to get a trailer, im waiting to get it finally home and ride it for my dads memory, he passed at the age of 22, he had me less than a year before he passed

It's crazy. I had a ninja 250 prior to my sv650 which I just sold and like an addict I have to have another bike and I thought of just getting a cheap pregen ninja 250 again. Loved the revvy sound of the bike and just how reliable it was. Off the line I beat most cars but it wasn't a priority to do so. Now you got me sold on this 300. Small bikes should be way more popular than they are. I honestly wish more people rode.

I do believe they are becoming far more popular than they were in the past... that is why we see so many manufacturers putting so much effort into the class of bike. The price point and the simplicty/fuel economy are bringing many of the people in (at least in the US). Another reason is the 300 class of bikes are a very desirable class of bikes in very large motorcycle markets overseas.. think india/asia as well as being desirable A2 bikes in countries like England.

Every time i show up to work on my bike most of the guys and a few gals want to badly but tell me they don't bc either they don't trust themselves or they're just afraid, both of those reasons I tell them that they should give it a try and start small. I have a cbr500r another great beginner bike..I grew up riding dirt bikes from like kindergarten to highschool. Then I didn't ride for 12 years. Never rode a street bike, so I decided the CBR would be a good start..it's a great bike, but after 2 months I could definitely use more power. I could have started out with a 600cc+ but I think I made the right decision starting with that lower displacement bike to get my confidence back up.

I have the 2016 ninja 300 with a full Yoshi system and pcv and LOVE IT. Would have a hard time to justify a larger bike when I just have way too much fun on this one. Not to mention tires, and insurance is a fraction of the price.

I do live in Rancho Cucamonga ca and having so many cc is only so fun. The insurance and tire cost wins me over every time though. I ride every day but it's mainly commuter (s)miles to work and back sometimes when I need the itch that scratch I'll use the freeway home. I'm grinning already just thinking about it.

Best placement for gear indicator is above the instrument dials. Very useful having gear indicator as gears are fairly close together on the 300.

Just bought the 2017 Plasma candy blue 300. Striking looks. Added a K&N airfilter and Akropovic performance graphite exhaust for a touch of tone and a bit more throttle response> plenty of power and zip. Lots of fun. Looks like a 600. Well balanced. Many compliments on bike. Love it.. Get one. No more blue Ninjas. Was told possibly a collectors item. @ 60 mpg & 42hp a perfect commuter weekend race fun.

@@xhizzous The 300 ninja has enough punch with a quick down shift and go. But you are exactly right, you have to be more aware of your surroundings and realize what is going on around you. I ride a Versys300x daily with a 40 mile 70mph interstate clip. It's not perfect, but it works. It's a great commuter.

I have 1. It's a very tame bike that looks like a big bike, offers enough that you may just decide thisis a bike to keep forever. (Don't get me wrong, you will want other bikes - you'll just like this one so much you want to keep it as well) Since you won't be scaring yourself, you will learn riding much quicker and then be a lot safer. ... And because the bike is so forgiving, it is so much fun to slowly creep up to those limits and have a lot of fun with it. (I take mine offroading in more open fiesta and trails) I daresay I've had way more fun than *any* of my friends with bigger bikes, have become a better rider than all but 1 of them, and don't have any tickets or self induced close moments. (I've had trucks cut in front of my and a car run a red light) Ps if your dad is scared to get a real bike, then he may be inclined towards a scooter. Share this with him: My dad way the same way. What he didn't realize it's - most scooters are very dangerous! Let me explain why: Imagine a small real motorcycle: *sound to get people's attention *tires that have manufacturers competing for grip ratings *real brakes *wheels large enough to go over bumps (and even curbs in an emergency) *The ability to lean way over and panic dodge *Enough power to pull out of someone's way *a frame that kinda locks you in for control and harder braking Now for most scooters, flip all that: -quiet and small enough for drivers to not register in their minds -cheap cheap cheap! Tires that are garbage -wheels that are small with next to no suspension, making them squirrelly and prone to catching in every bump or dip (flip and bind prone) imagine the safety and stability difference between a bicycle and a razer scooter in cracked pavement. you will be launched over your handle bars if you ever have to dodge into a curb -brakes that feel more like a bicycle than a road vehicle -physically can't lean over to do a sharp panic turn (and an attempt to push that will be a lot side crash and slide into the back of whatever you tried to dodge) -definitely can't accelerate out of the way of someone not seeing you and actively trying to run you over (i suppose you wouldn't really want to go any faster on those tiny wheels!) -to top all that off, instead of being locked into the bike, you are perched on top a stool style seat. It's a bit like the fine control of riding atop and elephant, but make that elephant more like a shopping cart rolling down a bumpy hill and people are trying to hit you. You may think I'm exaggerating, but I'm really not. I won't buy my children anything like that. If he is really afraid of a motorcycle, a trail bike is at least a more take halfway point (honda trail 90, trail 110), but again any street bike under 400cc will be safer than that in nearly every aspect, it's just a big step up from a scooter.

The 300s and 500s cbr and ninjas are awesome. I have a sprocket kit on my 300, I'm 6'0 at 245 lbs I can hit 97 and have fun. I dont care what people, if I like it I like it and it's not about what others say.

I ride around with some guys in 1000's on my 300.. I cant zip down the highway like they can in streight line.. but I can keep up relitively well in the twisties. Noone on the bigger bikes have ever said anything about me as a relitively new rider being on a small bike.. most are just happy to see another rider out enjoying being on 2 wheels.

I sold my r6 and got a z300, i almost never got to use r6 full potential in a safe way outside the circuit. Was speedin constantly couse r6 slow speed is regular high speed haha. And then city driving or daily driving just cant be done. This 300cc bikes are marked as beginner but i find it awesome daily bikes.

This sure looks like a nice bike. I've been contemplating getting a motorcycle again. I used to have a KLR 650, my first bike and the first motorcycle I've ever ridden, including dirt bikes, but I never really rode it but a few times in a field to practice and once on the road after I got my endorsement from the safety class. My buddy kind of talked me into getting it since he had a bike and he thought it would be fun to ride together, but that never really happened except the one time. Anyway fast forward a couple years and he ended up buying it from me since he needed transportation since he didn't have his other bike anymore and I never really rode it since, I'll be honest, I was afraid of getting hit and killed since there aren't a lot of good drivers where I'm from. But that kind of changed earlier this year when my brother got married and for his bachelor party, his best man brought a couple dirt bikes for us to ride in a field and I then remembered how much fun it was to ride on two wheels again. Needless to say riding a dirt bike in a field versus riding a motorcycle on the road is different, but still very fun all the same. I was contemplating getting a Honda Grom, because they look like fun but after seeing videos of how it can be difficult to pass traffic since they are a lower cc rating and seeing this video, I think I should first off get a 300 since it is more capable for passing traffic and probably would fit me better in the long run. I'll probably get a Grom later on to play around with but to get back to riding again I think this would be an excellent starting point. Sorry for the long comment.

someone offered to trade a working 2015 ninja 300 for my blaster 200, but I chose to sell it for $1800 and get my dream quad a yfz450, broken ofc to fix for myself. ill find one eventually, but almost all yfz's are over 2500. did i make the right choice to sell? the ninja looked good, but im not of legal driving age and you can't ride it on trails.

Thank you for this review, im definitely going to be getting this as my first bike. Fuel injection and abs being the main reason vs the 250 as well as I've heard this one, for a smaller guy like me, won't grow out of it the first season. started on the Ninjette aswell, put 24k km on it before upgrading to the Versys650 last year - perfect entry level bike IMO, fully agree with all the comments about it. Especially in the twisties, it's glorious, it's sooooo nimble

True story I've been riding dirt bikes my whole life never even sat on a sport bike chassis my buddy had another buddy who owed him some money he ended up giving him a 2014 ninja 300 and a 2001 r1 I promise I tear this dude up in the twistys these 300s are light and nimble they handle amazing in the twisty I'm pretty sure I have more fun then him everytime we ride

Ya. l seen the 400 too, am thinking it will probably be a better move than the 300, maybe I wont grow out of the 400 so quick. Seems like a good middle ground, not the slowest/smallest but not the fastest/biggest. I have to say though, what bike to go with has to be one of the hardest decisions ive had to make. So many opinions and factors from everywhere.

I love these videos, but my only problem is u just go over how good the bike is. Every bike is amazing. I almost baught a hysong... because one of the videos on it. But luckily I did research and found out no one in my area is willing to work on them. I wish u would at least sprinkle in some of the negatives to be aware of. But as an entertainment and learning about new bikes, u are one of the most fun to watch and it is nice to gear a optimistic view on any bike 🏍

I'm 125lbs 5'8" got 6k mile on it and I just out. 1100 Mike trip on it. Sore butt after 380 miles. First day. Ride 700 miles 2nd day sore for 3 day after lol

The one you can afford and take care of. I bought the 300 b/c it was an improved 250. The 400 is an all new bike and Kawasaki was racing to compete against others and that is why the new 400s had way more problems than the 300 when it came out. Buy a used, well maintained 300 and you will have a blast learning to be an excellent rider. Any smaller bike will teach you how to understand that cars and trucks don't care about you! Develop the 6th sense of "Don't you pull out in front on me you rat bastard" or "don't you change lanes pig vomit!"

I think you might of got it mixed up. In the the 250's stopped production. When they brought them back they were still 250. It's possible they brought them back when they released the facelifted KLR650, which has been pretty much the same bike the whole time. Im sure the modern ninja 250 was similar to the older one but dont think parts were interchangeable.

I bought my first bike last year. Decided on a ninja 300 with abs, even though I desperately wanted a zx6r. Best decision ever. I was able to get my moto license and learn the basics of riding. I can now keep up with some of those 600’s because I can ride, not because of engine size. My only issue is I feel I’m winding out fist gear when going across lanes, in a turn from a dead stop. I’ve been needing to shift into second mid turn which is a big no-no because it sounds like I’m going to blow her up. What speed is too much for first gear, in this situation? Thanks!! Safe riding

Shift thorugh first into 2nd before you enter the turn.. or just hold it at steady throttle at 20 to 23mph in the turn then shift to 2nd as soon as you streighten up... Ideally you wont be shifting while you are in a turn. That is a bad habbit.

ABS is a big deal. The two times I crashed my CBR 600 F2 were under heavy braking. It would be so nice to have abs to keep you from going into a skid.

This is great to hear! Shopping for first bike, and the great deals on NON abs bikes is so tempting. But I made the decision my first bike will have ABS. Rather shell out the extra coin for this feature.

If there is something to complain about on the 2016 ninja 300 it's not that it won't do highway speeds bc it will go 110+ mph without issue it's just the fact that it's at 9k rpm at 80mph. So it's a bit buzzy and maybe not ideal for comfort on long trips though it does get superb gasmileage.

The road glide is for long single lane highway rides with my side on the back and extra clothes for the ride home. My ninja 250 is for hitting the exact line I was focusing on and reaching the absolute extreme of my tires capabilities without touching the brakes and carrying my speed until the exact second I can pin my right hand down again! But never Not fun!!!

Horse power increases with revs, you mean torque. Low-mid range torque is what I prefer.

I noticed when you were at a light or stop sign you didn't go down to first gear until you were ready to go. I thought you have to shift before coming to a stop 🤔 when riding a motorcycle.
