2016 Kia Forte Review - Showing The Toyota Corolla Who's Boss

There's a lot more to the Kia Forte than simply an affordable price tag and Kia's trademark ten-year powertrain warranty. As with any new Kia, the interior is a nice place to be, while clever design has given the compact sedan more space that you'd expect. This particular model comes with a 2.0-liter gasoline four-cylinder engine rated at 173 hp and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Premium Package ups the ante on interior luxury and gadgets, and there's plenty more to like about this Silky Silver Forte besides.

3 years later how is your Kia working now? I have the 2016 Kia Forte and the transmission went bad on it completely didn't get any help because the dealership I purchased from canceled my warranty back in 2018 without my permission and won't show any proof that I'm the one who did it so now I have no car and a child with health problems who needs to go to his neurologist urologist Orthopedics all the way an hour away from my house

@@reginapalermo8678 I actually ended up returning that Forte because the bank backed out of the deal. Instead, I got a optima which has been amazing and very reliable. Not 1 issue and I drive a lot. Those Forte's have that IVT which suck. The optima has a traditional 6 speed automatic. I'm sorry that your going through that, that can't be fun.

I can honestly say that I test drove both and I ended up deciding for the Forte. The Corolla is a great car and has owned the title of being reliable but the interior and the overall driving experience did not convince me. The Forte on the other end has a better styling in the interior and exterior and the driving experience was better in terms of acceleration and handling. It felt more premium overall. I have owned the car for 6 months now and I already put in 10,000 miles and I have had no major problems. I don't regret buying this car!

I like the steering wheel of my 2011 Forte EX, over my wife's 2016 Forte5 EX. Other than that, her 2016 Forte5 EX rocks! Just remember to leave the "eco mode" off 24/7.

What is the difference between the Kia Forte and the Kia Forte Koup? Besides the fact that one is a two door and that the other is a four door. And out of the two which one do you recommend?

You already said the difference, coupe vs. sedan. I would take the sedan for the extra interior space and easier rear seat access. Just my two cents.

Two more points about the Forte 5: 1) It looks better 2) More rear headroom Actually those apply to all compact car segment, i.e. Mazda 3, Chevy Cruze, Ford Focus, Honda Civic...you name it. That's why I always prefer 5-dr hatch over 4-dr sedan.

Design is subjective but you bring up a good point about a five-door hatch vs. a four-door sedan.

The best deal on a LX hatch is 16 grand in my area (needed to buy a automatic and other features) and the cheapest sedan is $12,000, you can get a manual AND it gets better MPG. The rear seats still fold, so that is good.

Best deal on a base Soul is $13,300 in my area, best deal on a Forte (which comes standard with the 2 liter, not the 1.6 of the base Soul) is $11,500. Cannot beat the value for either, but the Forte is better value. The Forte manages better MPG regardless of HP as well.
