Fun fact.. Putting more oil in the gas actually makes the bike run leaner! Opposite of what you'd think. So if you want to add a bit more oil during break in, make sure you adjust your air screw accordingly

Amsoil 100:1 oil mixed at 75:1 engine will last longer and no carbon or smoke. My 250 has been running it hard for 4 years without a single rebuild and no power loss.

When you start up you bike as a cold start especially since you running it so rich don't just let it idle to warm up because the oil will all gunk up (love the bike though :)

9oz flywheel weight is the best 100 bucks you can spend on that thing I have a 14 keeps it from reving out so fast pulls better down low.

buy a 4t mate you obviously can't handle the power lol that's why I won't buy the KTM 250f weak bike vs this sx 250cc model or go broke for a 300cc bore kit might have the same weight but with more poke to it

+jonathan oxlade you obviously know nothing about acually racing these bikes on dirt stick to drag racing on public streets. Flywheel weights have nothing to do with horsepower it's about getting it to the ground.

raciestps4gamer A 150 or 125 with a 144 kit would be a better match. Really depends on how much you weigh. I'm 5'11, 170 pounds, and have been riding 5 years; I'm just now deciding to upgrade to the 250... Since its a 2 stroke, you really don't need big displacement to get into advanced riding even. Your best bike is going to be the one you're most comfortable and confident on, not the one with the highest top speed. Test ride them both and find out, have fun and ride safe!

Hey RC headquarters, to reply to your question, you have to remember KTM has to comply with the American Emmisions so when they tell you were on the bike 50 or 60 to 1 that's mostly just because of the smoke coming out of the pipe, that motor is not much different in essence of a 2003 or five or eight two-stroke 250 and most of those manuals tell you to run it 30 to 1 or 32 to 1 when I broke my bike in I ran it 28 to 1 ratio ,when the bikes come from factory the crank and piston are relatively dry so you really want to overload them for the first couple gas tanks overload with oil I mean even if it cost you a couple plugs,

False, they tell you to run it at 50:1 to 60:1 with motorex oil. They say that because its their sponsor. Not because of EPA regulations. Grab a yamaha manual and it will tell you something different. It will probably say 32:1-40:1 with their yamalube oil.

Also from the very moment you kick the bike over, the crank, piston, and cylinder get coated in oil. If you really wanna lube it up for its first start up. Take it apart and put some premix oil on those parts.
