I would never have figured out how to compress the brake caliper without this video! It's not 1974 any more -- electronics are everywhere.

You can put the electric parking brake (PB) in service mode following those steps: Engine has to be shut off during the whole procedure. 1. Turn on ignition 2. Fully press the accelerator and keep pressed 3. Pull the PB-switch (release) and keep pulled 4. Push the Start/Stop button three times -> PB actuators will fully retract into service mode and a yellow parking brake light will turn on in the dashboard To exit service mode afterwards simply repeat the steps, but instead of pulling the PB-switch - press it. This procedure worked fine on my 2017 M6 with 2.0 petrol & manual transmission Regards

Is this the alternative to removing the whole component as shown in the video?

@@brewcrew5854 I’m unfamiliar with the way Mischa has commented so I can’t really clarify on that if that’s what you’re following but in the beginning of this video, I show you how to disengage it around 1:22 mark. Thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

Hi about to undergo this job n was wondering if I could use a c-clamp to compress the rear calipers?or do u recommend that caliper tool u used?

I believe that’ll work, anything to push it back in. I would’ve said water pump pliers but C clamps work too! Thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

Why did you have to bottom out the caliper by turning the screw on top of the caliper? What is this step doing? Thanks.

I believe you’re talking about the bleeder screw that’s at the top of the caliper(?). As I’m compressing the pistons back in, I open the bleeder screw to let out the old brake fluid so it doesn’t go back into the system and up to the master. Towards the end of the video, I show how I flush the brakes and put in new brake fluid. I hope that answered your question. Thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

I think he was asking about the 40 torx screw you turned after removing the electronic actuator. I'm guessing that was to reset the plunger for the new pads?@@RoysGarage808

Stainless steel hardware clips aren't required for the rear brake pads?
@RoysGarage808

Great question! For this car, there is no stainless steel shims on the caliper mount, they are part of the brake pads. Usually it's on the caliper mount but for this particular car it is on the brake pads.

Great job but get some ratchet wrenches and a ratchet for the bracket...much faster that way!!!

There is NO _"electronic emergency brake system"_ in this car. It is called the ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE. At 2:33 ... No need to loosen the bleeder screw accordingly to manual from Mazda. At 3:07 sliding pins are rotating because someone did wrong job with them before. If job is done correctly they will not rotate. Was it you who worked with them before? At 6:02 ... So wrong. Theres is no need to remove the electric brake motor accordingly to manual from Mazda. At 7:31 ... It seems that caliper piston grooves are in wrong position. Nothing mentioned about correct position either. So many wrong things. Stopped watching from this point. Please delete this video from KZbin as many people could make wrong things.
