That pipe unblocking was impressive to say the least! 😂

Hi Baz. Really enjoying the channel and content. Don't envy anyone in the motor trade these days, cars are becoming more and more complicated and difficult to work on! When i started as a mechanic back in 1980 cars were so simple! Plugs, points, condenser etc, relatively easy to diagnose and fix any car back in the day. Glad I got out when I did, been retired 3 years now. Don't miss the trade one bit! Keep up the good work!!

I assume it's not just me that finds Baz's calm way of working, really relaxing to watch (certainly more relaxed then I'm working on my own cars) 🤣

I've done a lot of work on my wife's Mini over the years. She loves the car, it handles well and they are stylish. All I would say, is that I don't find the build quality that good - things often break when you're doing a job and cause delays and trips to the Mini parts department! 😄

Top tip, take the pcl connector out of your air blower and screw it into the pipe and put airline straight to it. Same thread and works a treat

Hats off to you mate.. I do this shit for a living, same quality of a job but when that banjo shears and the job is 5x more work I stress and swear, you seem so calm and just carry on. Bloody well done mate keep the content coming 👏

He swears off camera. We all swear. It's stress relief. As a home mechanic, no better feeling than when a bolt just frees itself. No worse than when you feel a bolt rounding off...

Baz, I have no idea how you do all that fiddly work with the engine in situ. That would drive me up the wall and down the other side….anyway, top work as always.

Amazing diagnostics & repairs...Only question I have: since you replaced so many gaskets, washers & bolts...Why not just replace the small pipe which was clogged...?
@bazmeredith5 ай бұрын
A gasket is a gasket and they need replacing when removed... The pipe is a pipe and is now clear if I had any doubt I would have replaced it, I agree what you're saying and it's a good point

great vid baz so what does block that pipe then? hardening oil?
@kieranunwin165 ай бұрын
Top work as always baz 👍 could i just get away with using a blow torch to unblock pipe? Or do you have to get it oxy acetalyne hot? Cheers 🤙

Hi Baz, I was just curious about seized broken bolts. in general do you charge the customer for extra time to sort them out?
@bazmeredith3 ай бұрын
It all depends on how long it takes and what sort of job it is buddy, it's give and take sometimes
@seangreenwood83315 ай бұрын
ive found putting a smear of hylomar blue on gaskets keeps them in place while fitting

Mates a main dealer mech on these - says that banjo bolt always carks - they now leave it on & use fire/pokey pokey to avoid the ballache of removing the manifold. Renaults do the exact same.,
@bazmeredith5 ай бұрын
Hate to think how many I've done and always come out but this once had other ideas 😂
@jamesward57215 ай бұрын
@@bazmeredith Personally I hit the banjo with a blowtorch before trying to remove it & have had great luck wiggling them back & forth gently before winding out. I have the time to do that tho - his place is always manic so they do the least risky/fastest fix every time. Plus they don't really care, lol, so once it's vaguely unblocked, they send it. :-)

Great video showing the complexities of working on a Mini. Certainly not for ramps on the drive methinks! The OBD Computer is certainly a must for working on modern cars. Main dealers are minting it on service for sure . 👍

Did you didn't put any type of paste on the oil return gasket, from the turbo? Only vaseline, to the gasket not fault
@mattplays19945 ай бұрын
I've just done the same pipe on a 1 series and them bolts always snap just have to work it and re tap and die the bolt and the thread in the manifold before pitting it back on

Hi mate do you have a part no for that banjo bolt can’t find one anywhere

Top stuff. Next time just fire and pokey. Don't remove manifold. 🤪

Can the engine leak be the reason why I'm getting a drive train problem? I had my mechanic change the spark plugs and yeah they were really warned out, but now after going to pick it up it's giving me the same issue on cylinder 1. Can anyone help me with my 2016 mini cooper problem?

Where are you based mate? You sound local? In North Wales? I need my Daughters 2016 Mini 1.6d sorting the same. 😊
