2016 Ram 1500 Cabin Air Filter Door Defect?

This vehicle did not come with a cabin air filter you must cut out the access area with a box cutter or utility knife then you can install the air filter and the access door sometimes you can buy the filter access door together or separate

Correct. You have to cut that part out. After that, you can slide the air filter in.💯💯

So...... Reading all the comments. Is there, or isn't there a air filter there...? Should there be 1 like in every other vehicle or there or not. I bought one. They obviously sell one for the eco diesel....

My 2015 ecodiesel has the same thing. I used a small drill bit I didn’t care about and cut that window out ‘cause my boxcutter wasn’t doing the job 😂 amazon sells the door with clips to put over the filter for like $8

Yo we got the same issue you have to buy the air filter cover, cuz the clips are there but you have to cut it out and it’s not easy

It IS easy with the right tools. I used a dremel with a flexible cable attacment, not even 10 minutes. I did use a soldering iron with a flat attatchment to smooth out the cut though, not neccessary, you could use 40 grit paper, just use a vacum cleaner to get the debris if any.

My guess is that your particular model truck did not come with a cabin filter nor a way to install one.

Im in the same boat. Bought an 09 that has the same issue. Looking for help. Haven't done it yet but thinking just cut out the spot and work from there

Yes m in the same boat there is no space . I think it’s not come with cabin air filters the engine air filter might connected with cabin air filter. Coz I took some pictures from inside put my mobile in .

recall for what? The truck didn't come with one. Its an option.

⁠cabin filter an option.. what has the world come to. Car manufacturers know it is standard to put a cabin filter in a vehicle. And its what consumers expect.
