Simone is really a once-in-a-generation gymnast. What an honor to be watching history being made. In 40 years young girls are going to be saying "I was watching when Simone Biles got her Olympic gold," just like I now talk about gymnasts from 40 years ago. It's a great feeling.

Wow what a friendly competition. These girls talk to each other between events, giving contradictory hugs, smiling and laughing... I remember watching an American competition from the 90s: during Shannon, Kim, Kerri's time... The gymnasts wouldn't even look at each other. Nice to see the change.

Yep! It's because they spend so much time at camp that they're basically forced to get to know each other. Also, back then, USAG (or USGF as it was) was an abusive shitshow and they weren't allowed to talk to each other.
@jojox97915 жыл бұрын
@doedelzak The abuse was not the bonding. Do you realise MOST of these girls who were abused DID NOT KNOW they were being abused??? Abuse is abuse and I am in NO way defending that monster, but he did not rape these girls with his man parts... he used his fingers and told them it was a "pelvic, hip, back" manipulation for REHAB. Of course some realized how uncomfortable it was. And maroney has a very different experience with being drugged..... but even Aly raisman didnt know until they came out to interview her... and she said a lightbulb went off and it was like "THAT WASNT A MEDICAL PROCEDURE"??? SO SORRY.....but what bonded these girls was camp and social media.

That's why I LOVE my sport... I ride horses and compete in 3 day Eventing/Jumping & Dressage- there's such incredible camraderie between riders- everyone wishes eachother good luck and congratulations- complete strangers will give you advice like "hey the approach to fence 12 is getting HAMMERED- try angling it left to right so you don't slip!" Even if you're in 1st place- people behind you still cheer you on and will help you. I've even loaned my $5,500 jump saddle to a complete stranger who was parked next to me at a show barely 90mins before my own ride because something on hers had broke & she saw me cleaning mine& thought it looked like it'd fit her& her horse... We will literally give eachother the shirts off our backs& more and will give actual WINNING advice or tips to other riders or RECEIVE free helpful advice from actual Olympic riders just because everyone is so genuinely kind and happy for eachother when they do well... Not many sports are like that- not many EQUESTRIAN sports are EITHER- but 3 Day Eventing is very unique that way! It's great to see that kind of sportsmanship in any kind of sport! 🥰

Essentially I think that a strong Olympic team would be 1. Simone Biles- that's a no brainer 2. Aly Raisman- She contributes everywhere but bars 3. Gabby Douglas- consistent all arounder and if she gets her amanar back then she will be very useful. 4. Laurie Hernandez/Ragan Smith- to me there almost the exact same gymnast. They're both great on the same events and tbh I don't see both on the same team 5. Madison Kocian- I'd take her overAshton if she competes all around at p&g's. There's no room for a specialist on this Olympic team in my opinion I didn't include Maggie Nichols because I don't know what shape she's in right now. We'll have to wait for P&G's
Maggie looked pretty strong at podium training yesterday. I'm really hoping she does well this weekend.

I dont understand why NBC always forgets to properly identify the skill that Aly Raisman failed to successfully perform in the beginning of her Uneven Bars. For those who you who don't know, that skill is called a "Shaposhnikova" which was named after Natasha Shaposhnikova, of the former Soviet Union, successfully perfomed that skill for the first in gymnastics history. I believe that gymnast deserves the respect of having her skill indentified by its proper name in the code of points.
@MultiChantal225 жыл бұрын
Anderson, Adolfo Alcantar-Carrillo Yes of course gymnast deseves having her epynomous skill to be properly identified, but you didn't identify the skill properly either. It's a Maloney not a Shap because it starts with a pike circle/toe on not a clear circle. Beside, not all skill are identified by its first performer's name. Like when is the last time you've heard someone call a full twisting double back a Mukhina? Yurchenko double twist a Baitova? Tsukahara double twist a Zamolodchikova?

there are lots of gymnasts who do vaults and one of them can score higher in execution than Maroney. u r truly a 4 yr fan who luvs what u see at first sight. I ike Maroney vault 2 but kerri strug vault scramento vaulted and many came before them. The best Vaulter is still in the game that will give usa their first gold in Rio.
@leapunk78678 жыл бұрын
+michelle gravesande Sorry, I should have been more clear with what I had to say. I haven't been impressed by any vaulter that competes right now, since McKayla Maroney. For example, I love Henrietta Onodi and Nastia Liukin's vaults. And of course I know about Kerri Strug, who's amazing as well. If you're talking about Simone Biles as "the best vaulter", then you're sorely mistaken, because Simone may get the gold on vault in Rio, her technique and execution is nowhere near Maroney's or Onodi's. Biles is not even close to being the best vaulter.

@michellewashington13558 жыл бұрын
have you seen Biles execution on Vault u need to double check the stats. not only watch the game but go and look up scoring sheets online. Biles execution outscores Maroney. Simone has one of the best execution and technique on Vault, The judges seems to think so who knows what they r doing. There are lots of comparison Vault videos on youtube there is a particular one that was made by a vault expert looking for the Vaulter who has the best potential of getting the tty tripple twist vault done and the only one he could hve come up with is Biles. she block right, she twist at the right time and she knows her landing before she lands. Maroney was good in her days. I had like her vault 2 looking at it realistically and mathematically Biles out score her on Execution. Do u know Marta didn't want to take her to the Olympics. The The US gymnastic association pressured her to take Maroney, lots of ppl were pissed since she was going just for vault gold and the us had 5 amanars at the time for the team finals that scored between 15.9 and 16.1.the other 4 weren't for vault finals since they did one vault.

Wonderful to see so many gymnasts, even those who were not the big stars of the Olympic year. Glad to see Ramler's floor routine-- appreciate how she did some different turn and leap combinations

My predictions for the olympic team: As Tim said, I think that Simone is a lock and that if Gabby and Aly do what they are capable of, they will be on the olympic team. I think that Ashton and Madison are competing for one spot, but I think that Ashton has a slight edge. I think that the final spot will be between Maggie, Laurie, and Ragan. However, I also really like Alyssa Baumann. I love her beam. In addition, I think that Mckayla Skinner is really good.

The gymnasts that I'm a huge fan of at this competition are: Madison Kocian, Aly Raisman. Seeing Nastia Liukin as a sports caster is making me miss viewing her compete in gymnastics or doing. I'm glad to see that Aly won, though she did have an error on the uneven bars.
@nathaliexlr88 жыл бұрын
56:11 I was waiting for them to comment that she was under-rotated - she's a bit shy of two full spins - but as picky as they can be, they missed something so obvious even in full speed.
@lily9194 жыл бұрын
idk why they rarely point out mykayla’s flaws when she has so many. she’s talented, but she goes for difficulty rather than form. her landings are so sloppy and her tumbling/skills on floor and beam are so inconsistent because of her form. 3 years later and it really hasn’t gotten much better

1:02:05 Not sure if that's a Maaranen or a Grigoras because it seemed she did the half-turn as she left the beam instead of right before she landed, which should be a tenth less in difficulty, yet Nastia's saying it's a front-flip with half-turn. I'd say that's a jump forward with half-twist to back-tuck.

Felt so bad for Aly when she fell off the UB. She came back strong which was terrific and a terrific leader. McKayla will always be the best vaulter to me. Love watching the past events. I've rewatched the london olympics. Fierce Five will always be my favorite olympic women's gymnastics team.

I have a serious question and I'm not being mean to any of you thinking I am.. But I was wondering what exactly would Douglas contribute to the Olympic team if she were to make it? We already know Simone and a couple others have their own little spark to them. Any suggestions/opinions? I just can't think of something she's wonderful at anymore like the others.

👉🏾⚠️ HERE'S THE RIO TEAM ⚠️👈🏾 1.) Simone Biles - Competing Vault, BB, FX 2.) Aly Raisman - Competing Vault, BB, FX 3.) Gabby Douglas - Competing Vault, UB 4.) Laurie Hernandez - Competing BB, UB (proved herself in this comp.) 5.) Ashton Locklear - Competing UB Not really sure of the 3rd person to compete on FX Team Final 😭 ...Thoughts? P.s. I know I left Maggie out.
@dejuanmitchell76878 жыл бұрын
Ehh Ashton won't be going. They need AA gymnasts. 1. Simone (lock) 2. Gabby (semi lock she's proved herself 2nd at worlds, plus two wins) 3. Aly (she needs consistency & no falls but she's Aly she's going) 4. Laurie Hernandez (she's solid & great proved it the) 5. ?? Should be Maggie but her knee. Ashton isn't an all around girl. This team won't have specialists. 3 up 3 count means they need great girls on 4 events. Kocian is a much better bars worker than Ashton & a good all around gymnast. She'd be picked over Ashton easily. Ashton was over scored here.
@itskatie91858 жыл бұрын
+DeJuan Mitchell I was kind of hoping Madison would be going over Ashton but that doesn't seem to be the case. And as for bar specialists, we definitely will have one. We always have a specialist. If not the fifth spot would probably be going to Maggie if she's healthy. But they're not choosing ALL all-arounders. They already have big scores on each event (except bars) with 4 gymnasts, without the specialist. But I agree Ashton WAS over scored.

They go on about simones dismount as if it's so awesome. Elena Shushunova did it at 12 years old way back in 1982 and there have been numerous more gymnasts throughout the years who have done it to. Elena Gurova (12 yrs ) to name another. It's a super hard dismount but Biles is being singled out as the only gymnast to do certain moves which is wrong.
