A new jacked-up, beefed-up Tundra has entered the fold. It's the Tundra TRD Pro. But is it worth the $57,000 price tag? And aside from gobbling-up offroad tracks, how is it for day to day family life? Take a look.

Being a tall person driving a Tundra is very relaxing because as a driver you get a footrest for your left foot which together with the comfortable seats makes it a vehicle that does not make you tired. As a tall passenger you will really appreciate the room the Tundra provides for your legs and feet which makes it so any person can sit in a ergonomically correct manor. Try the Ram for a few hours and you know what i mean.

I just complained about Toyota didn't bring their TRD Pro to Canada, here you are to prove me wrong. LOL... However I felt pretty good about my mistake. Great review, it's always good to see an youtuber from Canada reviewing something we have locally. Good work, keep it up!

I got the SR5 level trim package just for the reason you mentioned. I wanted a certain look and customization of my Tundra and to save some cash also. Toyota is great about offering the TRD equipment to purchase from the dealer, if you wish, but they are pricey. So you can purchase just the TRD equipment that you want and go to aftermarket items for the rest to complete your build.

I have the 2015 TRD PRO Blacked out, minus the leather seats and the heated seats, mine are black cloth...with a wicked cool red pattern....and I have everything else down to the dual exhaust. I had a new 2015 SR5 TRD....but I wanted the PRO...price difference SR5 was 42k , PRO was 48k... The 2016 model is the one with the brake assistance and the larger fuel tank at 38.5 gals., with all that and the leather, maybe that's way he said it was in the 50's..? I have to say, I been a Tech all my life, and previously I owned a Tacoma for 12 years, I love these trucks!

Hi Eric. Glad you're liking your truck. The price differential may be because I'm talking in Canadian dollars. Thanks for watching.

agree about the off roading... might cost more money if you custom, but at least you get to pick and choose what you want/need. getting factory, as good as it might be, never will there be truly great one size fit all shoes. customization is the way to go imo if you have the time and money for it.

great video! I'm one of those guys who likes to customize my own truck. that's why I bought the SR5 crew max trd. I figured I'll spend 99% of the time on the street so why spend the extra money for the pro. My sr5 has the same drive train tires and 5.7 engine as the pro!

I own an sr5 and added the TRD exhaust. I don't find the exhaust tiring personally. It is fairly quiet unless you have a heavy foot or are going up hill. My gas mileage after 22000 kms is very dependent on how driving. I just returned from a 1300 km road trip and averaged 18.7 us mpg or 12.6 l/per 100 kms. If you drive it like a sports car though it likes the gas.

Imho ... comparing Ford's 3.0L Ecomax engine v. Toyota's 5.7L IForce engine .. is comparing Apples to Stainless Steel. You then continued about "others" complaining about switch locations, lack of dual climate controls & heated seats. With the utmost respect to your review, as I watch your vlog/show every time it comes out .... The Toyota Tundra TRDPRO is meant to be purchased & enter the Baja 1000 "Stock Class" and win. Which is exactly what the Tundra TRDPRO has done & will continue to do. Drive off the showroom floor, no options & win the most grueling race in the America's. Beating every Ford model they've entered, every Dodge Ram model, every Chevrolet model, Peugeot, Vauxhall, Citroen & all the others I've forgotten. This is an astonishing feat for a stock truck that will do the same for anyone who buys it. (Have your Baja license) Enter & compete & perhaps win. You can't put a price on pedigree & pure performance these days. Not since the days of racing Daytona on sand could you buy a vehicle so powerful & strong. Lastly, to be so great, the TRDPRO is limited to its options, perhaps. Yet you can buy a 1794 or a Platinum & fully option them out in TRDpro specs. You just won't get the rear quarter panels; rather a chinsy sticker and an engine tuned to luxury. Plus expect to pay $20k to $25k more. The Tundra TRDpro isn't a package, it's a pure racing machine. It has no options other than color (3 of them) & no package options; it has a few performance options (oil filter, air filter, cold air intake, etc). The Tundra TRDpro is the same (a same example, not literal same) as a 1971 Dodge GTO Judge, everything delete, 3" to 4" exhaust straight from the manifold (no Cat) ... literally nothing but a tachometer & Limited paint with a turtle. If Ford drivers want to win dirt races, Ram drivers want to win mountain races and Chevy's want to finish top 20 (I've driven Chevy 2500HD LTZ with every option since 2002); they should buy a Toyota Tundra TRDpro. I even had a non binding $5,000 deposit for a Laramie Longhorn MegaCab 4x4, then switched it to the Laramie 2500 PowerWagon ... and now ... Have a $5000 deposit on Cement Double Cab TRDpro with all dealership options + a 3" lift, the FJ roof rack with 50" rigid light bars on all 4 sides. 2 Fox stage 2 steering stabilizers, bullybar with 4 KC HD Xenon 400w bulbs + 2 1,500w inverters, 2 upgraded 400w alternators, 3 780 deep cycle batteries. With AuxBeam lighting in/on all bulbs. This is all dealer installed, covered under my full Toyota warranty. How? I paid cash. Cash makes things happen. In cash I forgot, it's Cement, 100% murdered, 0 chrome, 20x 10's up front & 20x 12 rears on Mickey Thompson mudpuppy a/s Windows double 100% tinted, including top dot strip & lower dot strip. Toyota doesn't just want your business; they work with you to make everything happen. Even paying my airfare to San Antonio to pick up the truck & arraigning every pit stop for appropriate mileage to check for preventive maintenance, even paying for my Motel6 rooms, lol. 3,000 miles, 5 stops then they get the last $10k The TRDpro is worth every $ ... stock or even if you choose to get retarded, like I am. You can't put a price on a smile knowing that any Ford guy can chew yer schmegma crisps. Since every time Ford lines up to the TRDpro, Toyota wins. The TRDpro is a racer, a hotrod, made to go fast or off, then fast again. Purely fast until we win. God bless Texas. God bless Toyota.

Thanks for the so carefully considered comments. Great to have you watching. I hear you on the amazing capability of this truck and it's great to have it on offer. But I bet if you broke down the numbers of buyers who are actually taking this truck into those hardcore offroading scenarios, it would be a tiny fraction. It's those buyers I'm mainly talking to in this review. As I mentioned off the top... I'm not an offroad expert and it's not the niche audience I'm focusing on for these reviews. FYI: I'm going to be in the new TRD Pro Tacoma some in the new year so keep your eye out for that one, too. Great comments. Please keep them coming!

that sounded like a nut job rant. My one friend & the 4 others I pay will agree I'm a twunt short of a twee. Yet, everything I said about the Toyota TRDpro is true (ask Spandau Ballet); as is my taking back my non binding deposit with my local Ram dealer & using it as a binding deposit on my Tundra TRDpro. I was "sad" to see that the 4Runner no longer comes in the ""real" TRDpro package. Not sure if it's a 1 year blip or a permanent blipitaure; it will be greatly missed. As my Misterness was excited & expecting her "Cement" murdered 2" lift AuxBeamed Bullybar Warnereding 12k winch with a teensy 8k in the bed; to help with the trailer. No jokes. My daughter can't fit in that 2.5' bed. Lol. I'm glad the A-Pillar doesn't have an OSB because we're also able to spec: we changed the dash color display to simulate the OSB colors & used several of the colors of the needles for the gauges. I.e. the tachometer & speedometer got the same needle color etc. rear diff temp, front diff temp, axle temp display shows trans connection & rear diff U joint, L&R piston temps (ifs), L&R disk temps, air temp indicators for F/L F/R R/L R/R

I've never seen or have known of any trd pros with a sunroof ! I noticed that one had one every dealer has told me that's not an option . Do you have any idea ? Thanks and awesome vid the moonroof was one draw back for me getting a pro

That was a good review, after test driving two of these trucks, I agree with everything you said. Also, I did not see the heated seat button under there, I'll have to check that next time. The other thing that pissed me off beside the lack of heated seats and climate control and short bed was the windows switches. Only the drivers window switch was lighted and auto., I'm mean really what did that save them in cost!?

hey whats the deal? no headed seats on the TRD Pro down here in the states. Even if the button is somewhat hidden, I'd like some. Anyone know where I can find that stock switch? Dealer tells me There is no stock heated seat button and I don't want cheap aftermarket switches.

@MyAlexVideos

and why is that....?
@DavidStanleymusic
@DavidStanleymusic 8 жыл бұрын
Because it is not the best especially because the back bone of the Tundra is weak and has had many rust out problems. no locker for the rear diff not even close to being best 1/2 ton I would say it is the worst 1/2 ton. everything from the Titan to the F150 is a better proposition. GM Sierra is better Tundra is the worse now.
@MyAlexVideos
@MyAlexVideos 8 жыл бұрын
+David Stanley Toyotas are known for bead steel and rust problems and you do get a locker in this truck.....this truck is better then the nidsan titan and the gmc/ chevy amd the ford is a pretty good truck right now but i have to dissagree this truck is probably the better truck on the market! been working on trucks and cars as a mechanic for a while and this is probably the better truck
@DavidStanleymusic
@DavidStanleymusic 8 жыл бұрын
James Franco Wrong Toyotra has had a very bad run lately with completely rusted out frames among many other issues and recalls. The Titan XD is a much better truck so is the Sierra and F150. You can fan fair all you want for Toyota it won't change the facts on the ground.
@MyAlexVideos
@MyAlexVideos 8 жыл бұрын
+David Stanley how can you say the titan xd is a good truck? it was just release not to long ago....yes its got the cummins but thats not gonna change the truck itself the older generations were decemt but not excelent and i did say the f150 is a pretty decent truck! i did say the toyota has shitty quality steel and rust problems and sierras reliabilty is as good as the tundra and the newer f150s im not fanning on the toyota im just giving my opinion om the truck since ive worked on many of them including the f150, titan and sierra/silverado
