This truck war thing has gotten seriously ridiculous. Why can’t people just buy the truck they like and not give a damn about other people’s preferences on vehicles? I mean holy how, seriously! It’s childish. (I’m addressing the people in the comments, btw.) My grandpa bought a 2015 SR5 and it’s a great truck. It does exactly what he needs it to do. That being said.. buy the truck YOU like and shut the heck up!

Taylor Albaugh Well, in the real world the bashing is limited. And usually just in friendly jest. It's only fierce on the internet. We have all kinds of trucks at work (personal vehicles) and everybody who cares about trucks appreciates them all. Some for how new and shiny, some for how old and durable, and some for being a cheap deal found somewhere. The guy who parks beside me has a Tundra and I can appreciate it for how massive it is. It dwarfs my 1998 Navigator, which was considered an obnoxious behemoth in its day.

No matter how outdated tundra might be to some people. It's the only truck that went 1 million miles on same gas engine without ever being rebuild and same transmission. Only truck that towed space shuttle, Tundra. If it's not broken why fix it? Tundra, is reliable truck. Too many people don't appreciate Toyota engineering, until they try something else. There are rumors that an all new truck is coming in 2020 as a 2021 model year. Toyota keeps the same design forever which contributes to reliability. The 5.7 is thirsty for sure, but the 4.6 isn't that bad on gas and is just a wee bit slower. I like the "old" design. The Big 3 trucks are too fancy, complex, and expensive.

When the stock tires wear out, I will switch to my fave BFG AT TK KOs and call it perfect. Maybe go back to Engineer Pass/Anamas forks, pass by Anamas ghost town; from just outside Ouray, to just outside Silverton. Like that trail. The week of the fourth of July is a good time to go. See some Anasazi sites around CO/NM while I am at it, before going back to SoCal. New truck should be sweet.

Talk about an unfair challenge. First, most of the trucks they test would get stuck on that snowy trial and second, they chose a tundra with a sway bar on it which extremely hurts its off road capability. (Note that the sway is an option and doesn’t come stock on the trd off road packages. Because that doesn’t make sense obviously)

Once took a Subaru wagon up a steep winding snowpacked dirt road in CO. Had no trouble getting up but the fun started on the way down when I began sliding on all four wheels with a cliff on one side and a hairpin curve ahead. I ended up using a bucket to dig dirt from the bank and make a dirt track for one side of the wheels to follow to get down and around the turn to where the road was less steep and eventually got below snowline. Not a good place to crash halfway up a mountain in the middle of nowhere.

Have had several Toyota 4Runner's and Tacoma's and due to their reliability Toyota is all I will buy and own. Have a 2nd gen 4Runner with 3inch lift and 33's on it that gets compliments every where I go. Hard to beat Toyota quality and reliability period!

Well it looks pretty fair. Let’s try the power wagon, the raptor and the Colorado (which are highly equipped for off road) in dry conditions and throw the tundra in the snow driven by a men who is a great presenter but a really bad driver.

Maybe next time Toyota will pony up one when they do the test... I'm sure TFLT requested one. Still doubt it would have made it with those stock tires and low clearance.

What kind of tires would you have put on the truck if you were trying to get up that snowy hill? Dedicated snows like Blizaks or some other beefy off road like KO2's?

hi TFL gang. Thanks for the great videos. Do you guys get to take a look at trucks built outside of the Usa or do you just review trucks sold there? I would love to see a review of the Toyota hilux or Ford ranger built in South Africa for example. I mean did you guys see the new Ford Ranger Raptor "production looking" racing truck ford globally have come up with. I think that thing is going to be a beast and i hope fordusa let you review one.

Hades winterfell. I have seen them answer this question before. They only get cars supplied from manufacturers and every once in a while a local dealership. The problem is those international vehicles are many times not legal to drive in the US. The TFL team generally is only in the US to review cars from here. I know for a fact they would love to drive those international vehicles but logistics just does not offer a viable solution. Maybe if they become really large due to great viewership, and people not clicking “skip ad” they can grow and have teams in a few countries.

ok well that sux, cause both the South African built toyota hilux and ford ranger are pretty cool trucks..lets hope its not impossible though, but what i will say though is.. dude these guys don't need add revenues they need a proper sponsor.

Hopefully Toyota announces a 2019 Tundra Upgrade I've been wanting a full size truck for a while and the wife has approved a purchase for next year but just the lack of a powertrain and interior updates to name a few compared to the competitors is why i wont be choosing the current generation Tundra. I currently drive a 2011 Toyota Tacoma and love the Toyota brand name for their reliability and styling at least on the exterior. As of right now my Full sized Truck purchase will be the 2018 F-150 XLT or Lariat 5.0L V8 depending on what i can convince the wife is necessary and its for a few reasons: 1 the exterior front Grill and Tailgate refresh looks amazing compared to the competitors in my opinion. 2 the power plants for the F-150 have all been updated and mated to a 10 speed AT for better MPG and more HP and LB-FT Torque. 3 the body is made of aluminum i dont know about a lot of people but a body that will never rust is kinda eye catching to me even if you dent or scratch it you will never have rust on your body and to all those who want to say that the bed wont be able to withstand a whole lot i say get a spray in bed liner or something to protect your bed witch will make your bed more resistant anyways and you wont scratch your paint when your hauling equipment that your suppose to do with trucks unless you just buy it for the looks then i would say just go get a Honda Ridgeline. 4 interior on the F-150 is up to date and looks good and functions with big enough buttons to be used with gloves but not to big to be looking like its a kids toy from Toys'R'us which from alot of the interiors that ive seen in FCA, GM and Toyota at least in the Tundra look like. With some exceptions like what trim level you get you start filling in all the empty space that make most interiors look outdated. The new Nissan Titan has a decent interior but i just cant agree with the exterior design unless it was the warrior Concept they showed which was a beast or the Dodge Rebel TRX Concept was also a great looking truck only if Manufactures were to build trucks with that aggressive posture. and 5 the space on the interior i know alot of the full size competition out there all have about the same size space on the interior of the cab (give or take a few inches) at least for the Super Crew equivalent but just the available flat floor for hauling stuff inside the cab appeals to me

OnyxDrogon may not be the best performance but Toyota is know. For its reliability. Idk about the 5.7? The older Toyota 3vze v6 has been the most reliable indestructible engine ever made. As far as the appearance stuff idk why they haven’t updated it. The engine I think they are reluctant to change something that isn’t broken until they are absolutely sure it will be better and for their reputation last a long time

Joshua Webb I totally agree with the Reliability that's one of the main reasons i bought my Tacoma and love it its just the interior room that i need now and a few other features that i didn't mention above that after process of elimination really only came down to the F-150 and possibly the GMC Sierra but it came down to looks and in my opinion the F-150 was my choice. For the Reliability of the vehicle i was going back and fourth on a 3.5L ecoboost or the 5.0 V8 and not only the sound of the V8 but its longevity compared to having to replace a turbo later on down the line if i end up owning this vehicle for a while as i have with the tacoma. My brother is a Mechanic and works on just about everything and knows alot of tow truck drivers or just about all of them in my area cause he fixes their vehicles. the information that comes back from all of that is their are not alot of F-150s with the V8 that break down and are fairly reliable but there is another channel i watch which they went around and asked the mechanic's at their dealership what engine they would get in their F150 and most of them choose the 5.0L V8. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5-4dKtrfraNqNE

To make your tests fair, you have to put the same tires (and pressure) on each of the vehicles. Unless your plan to to show stock vs. stock and let complete OEM configuration determine the outcome. That said, how do you handle it if OEM's have more than one configuration (Bridgestone, Michellin, etc.)?
